We were happy you made it back to Beijing since your last trip was cut short. Everyone should see the Great Wall at least once. We went to Badaling about 18 years ago. We went to the Mutianyu section 3 months ago. We went on a week day and very few people were there. So many places you went to this time were the exact same places we went to 3 months ago. We went to the food street you went to in the beginning of your video and walked down many of the same sidewalks. And just like you, we noticed how conservative and strict they are in Beijing. We had to show passports and ID's several times. Beijing duck is so good!
I am so grateful that I made this decision to revisit Beijing once again. As I mentioned in the video, it was one of the most unforgettable trip inside China and I'm pretty sure that you were having an epic time at the Great Wall of China too! Thank you so much for watching and dropping such a wonderful and fun to read comment here!
Being the capital, security in Beijing, as one would expect, is tighter than that in Shanghai. FYI, in most capital cities in Europe, bag search is routine before entering any tourist attraction, and that extends to sporting events.
You would have needed more than two days in Beijing, I suppose, considering the fact that you went from Shanghai.
I do hope that you will make another video in Beijing in the future; I have never been there but I understand that it has a lot more to offer for visitors.

Two tips for BaDaLing : go on a weekday, when reach the top on the east route, continue as both quieter and more varied (the exit there is a very short walk to the original starting point, like a loop).

Security in Beijing is heavy because the central government is there. They don’t want any potential threats in any shape or form.
