One important point to note, is that the car always controls the speed of charging, most are capped to some level., which may be below or above the charger's output.
So plugging in on a "fast" AC 22kw post, most cars will limit to 11.5kw. ( The Zoe is a common exception), but 7kwh will be drawn on a 7kwh post.
Plugging in on chademo or CCS on a DC "rapid" charger, sometimes the cars maximum input will be less than the chargers output, sometimes its the charger that has a limit, due to grid supply, even if car would like more.
Another point to note is that DC "rapid charging slows as the battery fills, so often its better not to stop to early, and get going BEFORE the battery is full, 20% to 80% is ideal, and most time efficient.

I was going to make that point about the car controlling the speed of charge. If for instance I rock up to a 350Kw/h charger in my Renault Zoe ZE50 with CCS charging (optional extra for circa £1000) It will still only draw 50k/Wh. This seems to confuse people most.

the pay issue is the worst factor that non-ev drivers always bring up . If Like petrol or even Teslas you could saunter up to any charging point that you new always worked and you could get " power" quickly in under 10 mins .. then that would be the tuning point of EV's . We are close ... but not cloes enough .

Next time you stop at motor way services, see how much time it adds to your arrival time on your sat nav, to go to the loo, buy and consume your coffee/snack... I bet its more like 30mins rather than 10mins!

It is important to remember that the car sets the maximum charge rate not the charging equipment. A car with a 7kw charger cannot charge faster than that whatever the supply AC supply is (11, 22 etc). Rapid charging - over 50 kw (CCS) is DC and will always be quicker but again the car will decide what is wants. A warm empty battery is greedier than a cold full one.

At the moment the beginners guide to remote charging is not to buy an electric car, they are not fit for purpose at the minute, you shouldn't have to plan your journey looking for charging stations. Government is just not committed to dealing with this but are more than happy to force people into them. All vehicles should be standard fittings

I wonder just how much this propaganda is costing the battery car lobby no mentions of tyre life and catastrophic tyre failure no mention of battery degradation no mention of the fact that there is no limit on the actual cost of charging , no mention of the huge depreciation rates , no mention of so many of the drawbacks .
But my experience just of selling an S class under two years old and finding that Tesla did not want it even at one third of it original price .
