I love the GTR and probably am a fanboy of it . . But that Ferrari 458 is beautiful.. and to be honest I'd take both if I could. Why be on the side of just ONE car when you can love your favorite (GTR in my case) but still admire and like amazing cars like the Ferrari 458..
Considering those variables the 2012 GT-R is faster than the ZR1 on the nurburgring. Now for the tech part. The nissan is a 530HP 1750kg luxury sportscoupe and the ZR1 is a 640HP 1520kg supercar. And they are lapping the same times. Who do you think got better tech if you see those numbers?
All you people who are saying "its an unfair test the nissan has 4 wheel drive" or any other form of advantage. answer this, how much do the two cost? How many people can each carry? how much boot space does each have? The GTR is not only an amazing quick car in both straight lines and corning, it also will be a brilliant car for every and any day. NOT just a weekend car.
A car is not obly better because it is faster. Speed is not the only factor when judging a car, or when thinking if it is overprized or not. All premium brands seem overprized. The Porsche PDK is waaay smoother and useably in city than the GTR gearbox. You can use the Launch control as many times as desired without worries about gearbox, and some other things. Even in Best Motoring, the presenters were always heavily impressed with Porshe build quaility every time they tested and examined one.
More like really good technology vs even better technology.. There might be some skilled required in launching a 458 (albeit very little), but there is practically so skill involved in launching and racing a gt-r.. its easy to win when you have an expensive supercomputer in the car calculating miles of arithmetic in a split second to give you a flawless launch and the smoothest gear changes imaginable.
yes the point is that the GTR is not only fast but also equipped to better handle all kinds of situations which plays into the quality of the car all the while being cheaper, if u like ferrari's then that's fine but don't try to downplay the GTR because of it.

lol 6 months really? and if you think hand stitched is like 1 thread at a time you are wrong they use a sewing machine? a 458 sits at a single station for 20 minutes and runs through around 50-60 stations which equals anywhere from 18-24 hours per car, not including the time for the paint to dry. That is not my point though, and just because you have a big engine in a car does not mean it is going to get up and go fast, you need suspension, traction, gearing, it isnt a piece of cake.
I don't get it, I thought this was a mile race, not a quarter mile. I've also never heard of a race not starting from 0, a winner in a race is determined by how fast it starts and get to the finish line...

American cars dont use the most technologically advanced stuff AT ALL, thats the biggest bullshit ive ever heard. The 2012 ZR1 lapped a 7:20 with special super-slick racing tires and the 2011 GT-R lapped a 7:23 on stock tires and semi-wet track condition. So over that HUGE track the difference is 3 seconds while the ZR1 used racing tires and the GT-R raced on stock + the ZR1 had perfect track conditions and the GT-R raced on semi wet conditions + its 2011 model of GT-R.
Then the same could be said of many many cars. The Audi S3 is overprized againts the faster Megane RS (at least around corners), or the BMW 118d is overprized against a similarly powered KIA Ceed... what have the Audi and BMW that does no have the Renault and the KIA? The same that Porsche has and GTR not, maybe. But in ethe Porsche it seems that it is even more clear: engineering and quality control. Porsche are generally speaking mechanically extremely tough and interior trim is top notch.
its faster to 60 but its not faster on anything else, the ring time that it supposedly ran a '7:19.2' or w/e was not even video'd so if you want to consider that its time well then fair enough, and it has already been changed to oh it ran a '7:18' so IF you consider it a legit time that's fine BUT it was not video'd and it took nissan 5 years of changing things in the car to make it faster than the ZR1, the ZR1 has remained unchanged since 09 and its still the king on most tracks to the GT-R.

Well, I'm back, and after looking at the video again the 458 nose def drops after a few metres out then picks up again, showing that the torque had been lost through some of the acceleration. Having said that, I like both the cars and if someone would like to donate me either of these two great cars, and make my own heap disappear I would be very grateful ! Hey guys I got this great idea for a race. Lets take an AWD Nissan Monster and put it up against a RWD Ferrari on a WET, dusty, miserable road, and see who wins!!
Its not fair to do this from a dig, it needs to be roll on. Of course the GTR will have the edge starting from a dead stop its got AWD, but that 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is all its got on that Ferrari. Everything else is Ferrari territory. But even further than that is ZR1 territory. Redo the race from a roll on with the ZR1 and Ferrari and then see what happens.
And that official time set by Nissan on the semi wet nurburgring with stock tires was the the 2011 model, the 2012 model is much faster. Not to mention that the ZR1 has a supercharger, talking about forced induction. The ZR1 got a much bigger engine, is much lighter, has less luxury, is a 2seater supercar, got a much bigger engine and for that reason more HP, and still the GT-R has better 0-100kmh, the same quarter mile and trackwise it just depends on the track. its not designed for drag racing, anybody can put a big engine in a car and go fast, the challenge is building one that wins races by handling.

Hey guys I got this great idea for a race. Lets take an AWD Nissan Monster and put it up against a RWD Ferrari on a WET, dusty, miserable road, and see who wins!!

Its not fair to do this from a dig, it needs to be roll on. Of course the GTR will have the edge starting from a dead stop its got AWD, but that 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is all its got on that Ferrari. Everything else is Ferrari territory. But even further than that is ZR1 territory. Redo the race from a roll on with the ZR1 and Ferrari and then see what happens.

And that official time set by Nissan on the semi wet nurburgring with stock tires was the the 2011 model, the 2012 model is much faster. Not to mention that the ZR1 has a supercharger, talking about forced induction. The ZR1 got a much bigger engine, is much lighter, has less luxury, is a 2seater supercar, got a much bigger engine and for that reason more HP, and still the GT-R has better 0-100kmh, the same quarter mile and trackwise it just depends on the track. So your piece of plastic sucks

it's a Ferrari against a Nissan it shouldn't have lost any way i would say two car lengths is pretty damn far.
GTR does 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and 458 in about 3.5
458 is supposed to have A BETTER 0-60 TIME THEN A GTR? are you fucking kidding me?
talking about reliabilty, do you know what ALL indycars have as engine? A Honda engine because the amercan counterparts were to unstable.

gtr is a beast ok but here u can t really compare them cause of wet conditions and gtr is 4wd
