With its TUF features like Thermal Armor and FIVE YEAR warranty, the Sabertooth is going to really turn heads. If you're a gamer who doesn't have the money to shell out for the premium Republic of Gamers series board, this one should be on your short list. Наука
Its funny 6 years later and im just getting this board now
Diego Armando Abdullah nearly have the same specs built this pc when thid board came out, still never had a reason to upgrade today. Mind you, i am a casual gamer so it hasnt been important to me
Cody Nichiporik How much is it? U see them for 200-300$ on ebay which is ridiculous... i might just get a ryzen 5 2600 and a nicr mobo for that pricr rofl
Villain N. Whattttt but how? Although I got a r7 2700 and aorus gaming 7 now... xD
Villain N. Pretty cool, what do you d get as a cpu
Villain N. Ow I see cool
Its 2019 and I'm still using this board.
🤘🏼
Same here, what year did you buy yours? Mines been in use since 2012
Hi Ford, please can tell me what processor you recommend me for this motherboard? Thanks
An i7 3770K is a good match with this board.
@@melsgamingvault managed to hit 4.7ghz with mine on water, would of been 4.8 but prime95 wasn't stable unless I pushed the voltage higher than I was comfy with
My Asus Z77 still going strong since 2012. Still got the "certificate of reliability" on display in the room. This thing might honestly be my favorite piece of hardware I've ever bought. I hear they dont make the TUF boards the same anymore
I just bought this, waiting on my parts until I start my first build! I am excited, thank you linus for all of your great videos, they have helped me immensely in my decisions what hardware to get.
0:52 "Thermal Radar, this is really...
*puts on sunglasses*
"...COOL"
Linus should revisit the z77 chipset and show us what is the best board to use today. Lulz
I am still rocking this motherboard for 7 years now and it's solid and strong today. I really wanna do more to it!
I know this is a noob question but if adding a new harddrive, Can you plug it straight into the white Sata sockets?
Yes you can, but those are meant for SSDs. It's fine though.
Kabir Sawal how much difference do they make? For ssd!
Linus, whenever I'm confused about something computer related, I just watch your videos! -I also enjoy to just watch these videos for the hell of it; love every single video! Thanks :)
Excellent unboxing....full spec guidance is real handy.
ordered one of these yesterday super excited about it
damn linus thank you so much for this. i am going to buy this and there were no videos about it before yours. thank you so much!!
I have the H60. I had the same thoughts as you but it fit perfect. Cools way better than I expected to.
Just heard Linus' voice on a commercial.
dope.
i clicked the hell out of that link.
got cho back dawg.
Sounds great, good luck man, make a vid when you're done!
I just ordered one today. I hope it fits in my case without problems.
great video thanks for uploading
Right, I'm definitely getting this motherboard for my next build!
both are great. I like the sabertooth though, extra fans and thermal armor/dust covers.
I agree. I just got mine in today, it's for my g'friends birthday. Heavy as hell, really solid, looks really nice in her white 600T with white LED's all around it.
Thank you for the input Edward.. :) i decided to go for sabertooth after ur comment and several other comments :D
thanks !!! hehehe
Depends on what you already have, I have this board myself and I love it.
I bought this mobo in 2012 and it is still going strong.
Thanks for the info Fox.
Still using this board and it and the 2500k i5 I installed in it have been rock solid for the last 6 years.
its 2022 and im still using this board and it was preordered
Z77, got it, love it.
Hopefully buying this in the next few days for a gaming build, terribly exciting stuff :)
i will take your advise!! Thanks mate!!
Been running one since June and have had zero issues, zero overheating, and nearly zero noise. I've only manage to get the fans to speed up to an audible level one time.
I have this board and I must say its glorious!
2021 and mine is running strong with heavy use since 2013
I still use this motherboard to play current video games and I have it for 8 years, 👍😎👍
Mindblown at the end :D
Can't wait to start using my own, just waiting for the CPU to arrive!
I really like the look of this thing and having everything at the edges is fricken awesome. Was going to get the gd65 from MSI but this looks like a way nicer board for the extra 50 bucks. No fan cords hanging all over the board sells it for me. Also the armor is awesome, makes it look very clean. 5 year warrenty is solid even if I won't have it for nearly that long lol haven't even had my z68 for a year and I'm probably going to buy this tomorrow.
Gran an NZXT White Phantom. Thing is massive. ATX boards look like ITX boards inside (and it's one of the most gorgeous looking cases i have ever seen)
Thanks. I'll probably go with the Formula board now.
I just finished fitting one of these to a Thermaltake Chaser - 2 case... a perfect fit an a nice combo.. I love the features on this board, basically everthing you need (no bluetooth 'though).
Easy to fit and set up. Some really good included software to help you tweek it.
Mine is using a I5 3579k CPU combined with 16gb of RipYaw Ram. I had a Geforce GTX260 2gb graphics card lying around so I slotted that in as well.... I like the whole deal, it runs like as clock. Nice one ASUS!
..I think I have a new favourite source for unboxing videos
Thanks! :D I'm going with the Asrock.
I've had one of these forever, but does the CMOS Jumper work sufficiently???
Still using it ever since its release. :D
I love this frikkin board! Can't wait to be gettin it!
THX MAN!
BTW, loved your channel!
upload some more unboxing vids!
what would you recommend more? the p8Z77-v PRO or the SABERTOOTH z77? and shortly why (only if you want to XD)
yes it a socket 1155 and works with sandybridge and Ivy Bridge
Love it, look to get one in a future build, or Z79,
Everything is layed out nice, just a shame they dont do PCI-e 16x 16x when running with SLI graphics cards.
Nice reveiw Linus.. i am also a fan of Asus products :)
h100i! I used this with my build on the thermaltake armor revo chassis. LOOKS AMAZING.
The Thermal Armour works so well, my laptop came with it on the bottom and the only warm part of it is where the heatsink is dissipating the warm air out.
The direction of the air flow will determine if it's an exhaust or an intake. Most fans nowadays have an arrow indicating the direction of airflow. If you wanted an exhaust, you would install the fan with the arrow pointing at the back of the case. When I a handling a fan without an indicator arrow, I usually just inspect the fan blades. Another easy way would be to get the fan spinning (spin with your finger, blow on it, etc.) and feel which way the air is flowing.
Thermal armor cover is in two sections both fans should blow inward for cooling properly.
can't belive no other review mentioned the right angle usb 3 header. I was already pretty set on this board, but now I'm sold. My current z68 board has the usb 3 header in a stupid location...
my p8z68 just gave in - ordering this now
Thank you for telling me, I didn't know that!
I built a new rig recently with this board and a 680 and i7 3770 , it looks great and is defenatly a good choice. Freindly for overclocking and overall is a good board.
Already decided that I'm upgrading to this and an i5-3570K next summer. This mobo just looks amazing and the features are fantastic. I'll probably get a cpu water cooler too.
Thanks for your help. :)
i cant wait to get this motherboard
Both the fans should be intake for make positive air pressure so the hot air goes out the ventilation holes under the mobo
Have it, and i LOVE it!!
This, looks fantastic, great for overclocking.
Well I have OC'd mine from a 3.6 to a 4.4 and it stays around 47c on load. That's at 1.29v on it. I don't try to get all crazy with the overclocking. I'm sure in the next few weeks when I get more time I will push it to its limit and it will probably max out at about 5.0 at probably 1.35v. I'm guessing (only guessing) it will be about 65-70c on load. We will just have to see. But the awesome thing about this board is you can close off any unused slots which makes it look so neat and tidy.
Best board i ever see! I must buy that
You are awesome Linus!!!
It has a relation to browser games (Mochi), possible to find it only if you know what you are looking for but it is not a keyword. Environment is somewhere near university faculty as a software developer always think about how to set up an environment you work with, might be handy later.
Just got this board to go with an i5 3570k and to go in a Thor v2 case, looks so sweet and i cant wait to build it! The texture on the thermal armor isnt raised its actually indents, i wasnt sure which it was till i got my hands on it so just in case anyone was wondering.
H100i is what im using and it looks amazing together
Yep. Same socket and both ivy bridge.
I would go for any of the Superclocked 660ti's by EVGA. Both my 680s are made by them and I have had zero issues.
Bought this board last week for my i7 2600k gaming build and it is freaking awesome! It takes a little playing with to get use to the BIOS and the AI Suite but its freak sexy! Runs cool as well. Do not use the inclosed fan as an exhaust though. Use it as a cooler. the air has plenty of places to exhaust and the manual suggest not to use it that way. Awesome board!
Thanks so much, Im ordering it now! Which CPU cooler should I get for this board? (Inside a Cosmos II)
thanks for the info.. very much appreciated. =]
this is my mobo and its the best ever had!!really cool OC system and really easy
To be honest, I have not thought of the dual gpu sli on this board. But I don't see anything wrong with that option, but the first question that pops in my head is whether the thickness of the dual gpu will give enough space for the second dual gpu. That's something you might want to calculate first, unless you are going with aftermarket cooling solution for the video card. The reason I've mentioned the X79 board is, because I recently saw a build using quad sli on it. Insane build it was...
Works for me. i7 3770k and 2 gtx 680s in SLI. Haven't had any issues with it.
Using this board for my linux server 3TBx12 RAID6. Great quality.
I am still using this motherboard with i7 3770,16gb ram and RX 570 8gb,PSU is Raidmax Thunder RX 735W.Works like charm
yes it is
Yes, it does. The thermal armor is probably inhibiting your view, along with the fact that dust covers are provided to put in the unused PCI slots with this motherboard.
Very handy feature..
The point: it looks badass!
I still use this board with an I7 3770K. And it still runs wonderful.
I don't know why, but i'm actually excited that i've found a motherboard with no negative reviews of it breaking on delivery :D
This board is perfect for enthusiasts builds. I took the covers off and added custom artwork on them my board looks amazing.
thinking of buying this card
Z77. X79 you need only if you want gob loads of memory and bandwidth, as well as the Hex-cores.
it is where you configure you bios and if it stuffs up and you cant boot all you have to do is hit the bios flashback with a usb in it and it changes it back without booting
part 2
then you can check those numbers and make sure there are no temp spikes also it alerts you when your temps get to high there is so much more about this board that makes it amazing its worth the money if you overclock and if you like to look at numbers (me lol)
it works with ivy bridge or older sandy bridge. this is a lga 1155 socket
@Adam Watts its on there, its just at a 90 degree angle.
I would really like to see the power button and dual bios that you see on boards like the RIIIE I have on something like this. Otherwise amazing. I was really upset my 990FX Sabertooth did not have the thermal armor. Also would like to be able to program the button on the back with all the I/O to be able to just power on the computer maybe make it push and hold for bios because I have a pc that has the back facing out and that would be a perfect power button for me.
I'm gonna get either this or the ASrock Fatal1ty Professional Z77. The choices are endless!
I have used it, it works if you aren't gaming with current games like bf3. I had a sandy bridge i7 2600k though. The 3770k might be able to game a bit.
just what i was looking for
it looks good
use the onboard graphics via hdmi if the following doesn't work. Also try re-seating your graphics card. I had the same issues, my 660ti wasn't being recognised. I booted with onboard graphics, installed all of the drivers from the disk (and downloaded/flashed to the most recent bios.)
thanks for the info I was deciding what case was better storm stryker or HAF X
Its an ATX board so check on your tower configuration and see if it will fit a ATX board. I bought a Thermaltake HAF 932 Advanced full tower and put my 850w Corsair Gold PSU on the bottom tray and it fit perfectly in the full size tower. Mid towers you would probably have to the PSU on the top.
Yes. It will.
selection on the h80 can get rather loud on the h80 when doing heavy gaming BUT its nothing like say....a really loud SLI configuration haha. I love the board, by far the best Ive ever owned out of all the years Ive built PCs. My thing has always been though that Im not much of an overclocker and Im trying to learn how to OC the CPU on this board particular board with the 2700k. Just learned how to OC my EVGA GTX 680 through EVGA Precision for my particular model card and now I just need the
