Amazing talk! Thank you... truth feels so uplifting and beautiful to hear... it almost seems obvious, yet it actually takes life times to live by and really understand completely...

I found a Matthew Dasti Nyaya Sutra academic book in the basement of the Bhakti Center. I am reading through it right now.

Srila Prabhupada gave us Bhakti Yoga, working for Krsna’s pleasure
There is no limit to our motivations for success when it comes to working for Krsna’s pleasure. Regardless if the results are positive or not. Our purpose is to do our outmost best.

Perhaps, just perhaps, we'll be able to figure out this yoga business one day. And what a wonderful world it will be 💚

It explains tatvam asi. The meaning of tat is explained in the first 6 chapters, tvam meaning in the next 6 chapters and asi meaning in the last six chapters.

I appreciate the professor's standpoint as a very thoughtful person who is conscientious and thorough in working out his position. But doesn't the Srimad Bhagavatam and Chaitanya Charitamrita go beyond the Bhagavad Gita? Nowhere in this conversation was the chanting of the Holy Name mentioned, which is the Yuga Dharma and the prescribed way forward for everyone in this Age. There is an issue about what constitutes 'work'. Is 'work' entirely action, or can 'work' also be understood as a constant inner engagement of loving reciprocity with God that is based on many facets? If you look at Caitanya Mahaprabhu's lila, it includes many examples of Mercy - for example, the salvation ofJaggai Madhai, the reformation of the prostitute by Srila Haridas Thakur, the chanting of the Holy Name by the animals in the Jarikhanda forest - that go far beyond the idea of using karma-yoga or a well-developed analytical mind to construct the spiritually 'self-made man'. Karma yoga as described in the Bhagavad Gita is a very useful tool for people in modern life. But it may be important not to lose sight of the immensely bigger picture supported by Caitanya Mahaprabhu and the literary and philosophical tradition that followed him.

The Greek philosophers may have been logical, stream-lined and smart. But neither Socrates, Aristotle, Pythagoras or any of the other Greek philosophers were able to offer their followers anything like the ecstatic love of the Gopis of Vrindavan, which Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu bestowed merely by the practice of chanting the Holy Names.

Being a professor does not make one an authority of the absolute knowledge or teachings of the Bhāgavata Gita

You can see how restless his mind is by his constant restless physical movements. It’s nice to see he is honest an doesn’t believe everything he hears.a misunderstanding of the advaita Vedanta teaching that you should transcend the world, by not being responsible both vivekananda and ramana Maharishi both gave great attention to clearing up this misleading belief that kept India backward and in poverty for centuries ,it actually means “established in the Self perform action”.

Bhakti is one path to God, there are as many teachers and teachings as there are people. Just as you are attracted to the path of devotion others are attracted to the path of jnana . Both lead to the same end, only immature aspirants see better or worse or my path is the only way or best way, fundamentalism is separating. Love is unifying .

@@radhikaschwartz3499 Yes, you are right Radhika. The fundamentalism of Shankaracharya's philosophy completely dominated India for centuries. It was challenged by the four sampradaya's led by Ramanuja, Vishnu Swami, Nibark etc All these samraydayas taught that love is superior to fundamentalism. Bhakti is not the only path. But it is the path that touches not only the mind, but the heart. I am only pointing out that the Greek philosophers had a completely different perspective. As you say, love is always the most attractive option.
