For some reason this game ran worse than mirror's edge on my laptop, couldn't get 60fps even without recording so had to go with 30. Still the video is perfectly watchable.
I included the developer commentary when it wasn't going over the talking of the game and skipped the ones it would interupt which wasnt many. I also added in the monkey dance intro from the amiga version with the updated music since it was left out of the game and I like the dancing -

Lechuck appearing in the rooms at the end was terrifying for me as a child...looking back I have no idea why...guess I was just young and struggling to think what to do...

The original version of this game is one of my favourites of all time. I wish Ron Gilbert could get the rights back to this franchise...I feel it's now lost to the world. Ron has barely even mentioned Monkey Island since his fantasy of his own MI3 last April, and there's no news about anything recent I can find online. I just want to know how it should have ended!
Disney doesn't seem interested into selling the rights to Ron Gilbert... Sadly, because the 2 first games are indeed masterpieces, and the ending of Monkey Island 2 apparently takes a huge part in the story ! Ron should make a Kickstarter, we'll beat Double Find 2 million dollars easily for Monkey Island 3a !

I remember playing this when I was little, my grand father gave me a cd with all the games that were good in those times, I had duke 3D, etc. Shame I lost that CD, good memories. THis was probably my favorite game even though I never finished it.

Thanks for doing all these longplays! They're perfect in the sense that you can enjoy classic games that you normally wouldn't enjoy as it's not your kind of game, you know what I mean? Keep up the good work!
I seem to remember when you got the potion for Wally, the music would disappear on the Scabb Island map as if were setting the scene for what was to happen next. I don't know if that was deliberate, but it worked very well.
This has to be the best editing I've seen in a longplay. Good job, enjoyed it.

One of my favourite games ever
Played the original as a kid. I love the all new voice acting and art. The commentary doesn't fit on this playthrough though. The used-coffins salesman made me laugh with his morbid puns. :D
I've loved this game all my life but it's gone now, I couldn't find it anymore..

if you look closely at 44:05, after Guybrush used the doll a couple of times, it sort of wears of... you see Guybrush wiggle/shake the doll shortly (in a way we wiggle/shake something if we want it to work (again) like a flashlight or remote control), before putting it back into his pocket...so he couldnt have stopped Largo if he wanted to (Guybrush is not the 'getting physical' kinda guy ;-))
Man, the voodoo lady is one of the coolest characters in the series!

The new edition is really well meant and I don't complain.
Unfortunately, the White Album cannot be recorded a second time.
While this was my favorite game because on average it had far superior and less annoying puzzles, the insult swordfight (and its series in subsequent games) is still what really elevated this game series above other puzzle games of their time.

So according to this game the book Big Whoop: Unclaimed Bonanza or Myth that Rapp was killed in a flash fire since Guybrush has ash-2-life potion from the house of mojo he uses that to resurrect Rapp from his fiery death. That is when Lechuck killed him during his 35th birthday that he was cooking in his restaurant. The candles on his cake was lit an explosion happened.
Those pirates didn’t hide their treasure very well.

The better music and the audio commentary is freaking awesome! Being able to switch between VGA and new-school graphics is also fantastic, relive the original and see their later interpretation. The voice acting is nasty though... Not that it's that badly done, though I thing much of it is (especially Wally in the beginning is ridiculous -should have been a comedy geek accent, not a cross between Richard Dawkins and a Wild-West gold digger, big missed chance- didn't like Neil Ross in The Curse either) but it breaks my immersion because I remember so vividly what I imagined and it sounds sooo nothing like that :)

Does anyone know what song is being whistled while the credits roll at 3:32:30 ? Old sea chanty of some kind I guess. I always remembered this song since I was a kid when I played the original but I've never known what it was.

I remeber when I first played this game that scene where guybrush hits his head and has that skeleton dream, I thought I died and that fucking freaked me out.
In my opinion this is the best of the series.
2 > 3 > 1 > 5 > 4
But they're all excellent.

I enjoyed the commentary while playing through it. I've played through the game tons of times, I don't need to know what happens. I'd rather hear what the developers were thinking when they designed it.

Does anyone know what the song that is whistled starting at 3:21:29 is? I heard someone whistling that once in the Navy and after a minute remembered it from Monkey Island. It must be a sea chanty of some kind.
While I do like the Guybrush voice-actor and think he does a great job.... I also entertain the idea of George Stobbart's voice-actor playing Guybrush.

How to make this longplays? I mean, you sit down, setup an old hardware, with an old software system, and try to start the game, and if run, you sit almost four ours and play during recording? Or How? Thx! (sorry for my bad english)
I like this game, but I never quite knew what to think of the ending. It always felt like somewhat of a copout to me.

What??? The Special Edition removes the KEY part of the ending where Elaine is shown at Dinky Island wondering if LeChuck cast a SPELL on Guybrush! This is outrageous!
Some people think that all of Monkey Island games have happened in the mind of a young boy, while this is not the case! Removing this piece from the ending gives further credibility to this interpretation! I'm so pissed!
I'm fairly certain it is in this edition. Not sure why it's missing from this video but I swear I've seen the scene with voice acting before.

I love commentary with Tim and the developers. I hope in 2018 that they will have a walkthrough commentary on Psychonauts 2.
Also I thought it felt like only the first part of the game when he was getting the first piece of the map 2 hours in as if that's only the beginning. To bad the game wasn't that long, would had been amazing with a point and click game that lasted for hours even when you knew what you were doing.
2:49:50 Why does the game allow you to go to Woodtick if the cut scene is on Captain Dread ship n the map, to show Lechuck has already kidnapped Wally.
Its the wrong way round... we already know wally's been kidnapped, yet the cut scene is only when you go to Dead's ship, instead it should be when you go to Woodtick,(e.g when returning from the swamp). Perhaps this is been changed on Special Edition?

@Mrster Yeah that's some good stuff in the remake : the voices, the music... But the classic doesn't include these (there's an unofficial talkie version of the game on the web if you search a little). I don't agree with you : a game is not the same in essance because we have the same gameplay, characters, or whatever. I think a good remake is a meticulous adaptation of the original work : for example, Curse of Monkey Island in HD resolution ? Improving, that's the key.
