This one is now only relevant for old gen.
The key to both the Achilles and Widowmaker are the perks in the tech tree. With those perks it hits like a tank and the charge time is largely negated, also as both are tech weapons, they penetrate entire buildings in some cases.
The other important perks to help seperate Widowmaker from the Achilles come from the Ninjitsu tree, as Widowmaker does poison damage.
Achilles can also poison, depends on the roll at the weapon shop or drop
@@jasonm23 Widowmaker always does poison, so you can build around it without worrying about RNG, and secondly, Widowmaker fires 2 rounds with each shot as its special effect, so it is in every way better than the Achilles.
@@O-D-X I know I'm being "that guy" but it's even better than that. It fires one extra projectile, the Achilles shoots 5 and Widowmaker shoots 6. It's pretty sweet.
Used widowmaker in a sandevistan build as a shotgun. Headshot multipliers with a tight spread make uncharged shots good enough and most importantly the firing delay was short enough to spam even with time slowed.
if you do the weapon store reload or get a loot box with a legendary Achilles, you can get these additional perks. If you like the idea of basically instant charge time, you can get that. I have an Achilles with a 0.04 sec charge time. Obviously you can get these things through the PC console, I'm talking about PS5 though.
I could be wrong but I believe Gorilla arms completely negate the body requirement for weapons, so for example you can use the SOR with only the starting 3 body to its full abilities, (it will still have the warning text but it won't actually have any negative impact) but I haven't used GA's in a while.
The legendary arms grant +8 to strength for purpose of body requirements, while each lower quality grants 2 less than the higher rank. So the starting GA, only grant +2 to meeting body requirements and wouldn't help meet the 10 body requirement unless you had 8 body already.
@@O-D-X that's for speech/door checks I'm referring to the body requirements on weapons GA outright nullifies it regardless of your body stat. You can try it yourself in game.
You're correct. I was using the O'Five, without any penalties, with like 6 body.
@@O-D-X Not quite. The legendaries grant +6 (not +8) to checks, not requirements. They completely void any weapon requirements. And it does go down by two per rarity. You can test this out easily enough. Grab a pair of blue gorilla arms on a low-body build, go deck that fuck Buck and take his gun, which has a 20 Body requirement. You'll notice you can use it without penalties.
I confirm to you that this is false. I had 7 body and the legendary gorilla arm. And still needed 10 body to use the power precision rifle
I LOVE the hypercritical. Ever since I found it, it became my primary weapon of choice. I love its aesthetic and sound design. It feels chunky. Hell it's basically a Carnage shotgun that fires slugs.
You can actually also acquire Widow Maker at the end of the mission where you test out the Bassilisk and blow the Raffens to kingdom come, provided you didn't go for Nash in your first mission with Panam.

3:08 Is no one gonna mention the absolute Chad that's shooting a machine gun one handed?
Fun fact: precision rifle is cousin of sniper rifle, so it make negative sense you can't put long range scopes on it or that it loses damage long range. SOR-22 is such a cool weapon, advertised as a "hand-held artillery", but in gameplay it's clunky and weak. You can just use Moron Labe instead, and you will have more damage, more precision, more recoil control, and it's full auto. Not to mention that cost of entry is lower, since you don't need body to use Ajax.
Widowmaker FTW!! I absolutely loved that gun; it's a real beast once you get a few perks going and best of all; it's completely free! That weapon carried me all the way to the end. Just meet up with Panam, get to the point where you have to clear out the enemies in that cave, and you're good to go. 🙂
Honestly, you missed one if not THE absolute winning point regarding the Hypercritical
Thing does not only look like a shoulder mounted bullpop anti tank cannon, it also sounds like one, like it so much that I'm even using it alongside a silenced Death & Taxes as my 'Oh Shit!' weapon for my netrunner-handgun build. Thing even cleans the table without speccing a single bit into it *g*
I'm both shocked and not surprised to see the SOR-22 at the bottom of the list. It's easily my favorite because its basically a sniper rifle that isn't a sniper rifle. It's hyper accurate and can still equip a scope. If you've got a good shot its extremely rewarding and helps to add a bit of range for a mostly shotgun/SMG build.
Mid to long range work horse, iron sights for street corners imo
Like with any of the weapons you can find Achilles with a special weapon trait and the ones for tech weapons are very good. For example if you get one with "50% less charge time" and have the engineering perk that affects the same thing you fire a charged shot with every quick pull of the trigger and it is extremely OP.
THIS ONE. The only great tech weapon are the ones that requires no charge time (Achilles, Nekomata, Satara and Comrade's Hammer), the former 3 weapons need to be acquired by spending time in weapon vendor (for unknown reason crafted weapons don't come with unique random perks like the "Reduces weapon charge time by 50%" we needed).
Go to the vendor that sell the legendary variant of the weapon. Wait (skip 24 hours if not match) until the legendary variant with damage of your favorite spwan, exit the vendor menu (which then auto-save performed), F9 (quick-load) to check out the random perks got on that weapon, if that is "Reduces weapon charge time by 50%", jackpot, if not skip 24 hours and repeat the steps (the only major drawback of these weapons), but other than that they are the real T0 weapons in the current game.
Another key is the weapon could not have a internal level of 50 (if you acquire it below 48, you couldnt upgrade it beyond 49 or it will lose the instant charge capability), then go to the engineering tech tree, get 1 level on Lickety Split for tech lv19 or 20, 2 level for 18 or below and you now got a zero charge time cheat tier tech weapon :D
I was going to say that you missed the Kyubi, and then looked it up and realized that the Kyubi is for some reason an assault rifle. I've been using that as a suppressed precision rifle for dozens of hours on my sneakyboi and had no idea it was in the assault rifle category all this time. That's wild.

Kyubi is excellent but you need to watch your perks, the Precision/Sniper only perks don't help it and are a waste. Best option for a silenced and decent damage one shot outside of Overwatch though!
There is not a single precision rifle in the game that can take a silencer. Kyubi is nice but your are limited in rarity to an rare or epic. There is no legendary one without using a console commands. If you want to continue down the sneaky one shot kill, look into the Moron Labe, if you have the tech ability high enough to craft it.
I almost did something similar in his assault rifles video. Was wondering where the DS-1 Pulsar was. I always thought of it as a compact assault rifle (because it's modeled with an AK magazine).
Then realized, oops nope, it's actually considered an SMG.

Alternatively, with the standard Achilles. I believe that shop sells the Spec for the legendary version. Good for the 20 crafting perk (damage buff) and the 10% damage buff crafting perk (10 or 11, I think) Also I’ve found a epic variant, with a purple coat and flames decal(was thermal, have to assume it always is), not entirely sure where, but a great option if you dress Kitsch or Neo-Kitsch. Have to assume it was Cyberpsycho related, but might’ve been rolled off of Sasquatch (if my memory isn’t failing me)
Still Widow and cranking into the poison perks in cool my definite go to!

Nice vid, though I never really did precision rifles too much. Curious about maybe doing a video on damage types? Considering some damage types get actual perks to improve them, and others don't, I was wondering if you had thought about a "status effect" build, like a lightning god build, or chemical damage or similar, and seeing how effective it is to build around maximizing %chance to proc those damage types, and then let them do the damage.

@@SamBram Yeah considering that one tech perk that makes you immune to your own grenades, I was thinking that could be a REALLY OP way to just run through massive groups of enemies, tossing 'nades at your feet like some lunatic, and watching them all just melt 🤣

sandevistan is so much fun with a silenced pistol / stealth approach, its so nice to take out 2-3 enemies at a time without ever entering combat. never used this before, so i miss ping and taking out cameras with hacks but if you take your time it just as OP. this game just needs a silenced precision rifle.

Achilles/Widow Maker is my favorite rifle. I use it like an assault rifle honestly. I imagine it would eventually supersede the Ajax for the Militech/US Army standard soldiers, because it’s sort of every gun rolled into one. It’s like the perfect weapon.
You can only get the standard Kolac with Console commands, and that only spawns as common rarity. You need to use even more console commands to bring it up to legendary. Legendary tier variants of some weapons are locked behind console commands.
Achilles is amazing with the 50% charge time reduction property it can roll with. You can force the vendor version to reroll the property it has by quicksaving and quickloading. Make sure you hard save before you go to the area of the vendor, as when you go there it generates a seed and any quick load will always remain the same for those items, if it happens to be a property you dont like, just load the hard save and go back, quick save and quick load again. with the talents to reduce charge time you can REMOVE the charge time for the Achilles, and it becomes one of the most busted guns in the game!
The non iconic variant of Hypercritical was never added to the game by most accounts, so no drops exist
Just some additional notes on Achilles/Widow Maker....
Time skip at the Downtown weapon shop, to get the damage effect modifier you want bleed,poison, burn, shock. The re-roll will also affect charge time sometimes.
The shop also had an epic variant (and lower) with a pink/orange flame job skin, which looks way better (subjective) than the widow maker's blue spirals.
There's another option for acquiring the Achilles, as legendary and with the flame job... The gig "Occupational Hazard" has you fighting a cyber psycho called Anna Nox, a Mox. When she is defeated she drops a legendary weapon.
What's great about this is that (1) you can feasibly get any gun that is possible to spawn (I've seen legendary Tamayura, Shigure, Nowaki, Pozhar etc.) and (2) the same gun will spawn in the same position. So you can grab her walk her to a given spot, take her down and you'll get the same gun (or another gun that spawns at the same spot, often this is a 1 or 2 item list)
The quality and slots will be randomized (epic or legendary after lvl 40)
The only problem is picking that one gun you will take forward... (I got a legendary Kyubi).
If you want a legendary Achilles look for the two palettes placed against the back wall, near the door of the closed space at the back left of the garage.
Grab Anna and get her positioned in the corner formed by the two palettes and snap her neck, an Achilles should drop, try it until you get the variety you want. If an Achilles isn't dropped either the position is wrong (or all positions are randomized at the start of play through)
Wait you can do a sneak grab and takedown on cyberspychos? I had no idea. They always take a while to kill compared to normal enemies so I just assumed that wouldn't work.
@@Dan-zi4 depends on your level / esp Body/Athletics. If they don't show the red indicator you can usually grab them as long as you're stealthy.
I was disappointed to go back in the 2.0 update and find out that the Widowmaker is a 2 shot burst now, it was my favorite gun in the game. Time to roll for a good Achilles!

All I got from this and the sniper video is that I need to do a Reflex/Body hybrid Demolitionist build with all the explosive guns.
The hyper-critical isn't a gun to base a build around, but it's great for getting some mid-long range weaponry with a Body build. When they get closer pull out a machine gun or shotgun.

In one full walkthrough of CP77 i never knew that gorilla arms actually gives you adittional 6 strength, so you can wield a heavy weapons while having a 4 strength stats with you, thats incredible, thanx for the info

The sor 22 really needs a buff
Personally, the Widowmaker, the Hypercritical and Panam's Overwatch are three of my favorite Iconics, Overwatch is awsome for long range stealth, and i had a blast pairing Hypercritical and Widowmaker for regular combat, one as the slow heavy hitter for skulls and the rapidfire slug thrower for everything else, back it up with a melee weapon and you are set for a big ass massacre
Oh! I have a use case for the Pozhar from the shotgun video: it's actually one of the best shotguns on a Legendary Short Circuit build. It has a higher fire rate and faster full reload than the others, which means more crits per second, which means more legendary short circuit procs per second!
Good for Cold Bloods "Cold and Calculating" also. If you're dumping 60 crits out then you easily fully charge your Cold Blood stacks.
I prefer the Headsman for the Short Circuit build. While it has a slower fire rate, it fire 16 pellets versus the 6 from Pozhar. More than make up for the slower firing rate and you get far more damage from just the gun even without the SC proc.
@@O-D-X I actually can't find a ROF for the pozhar listed *anywhere* online, but if the pozhar fires over 2.02 attacks per second, then it actually puts more pellets downrange than the headsman. Now, since the rarity on the Pozhar never lets it get that last juicy weapon slot, it loses out on 3% crit from a Legendary "Penetrator" mod, so that could sway the calculations as well.
So yeah, *if* the pozhar shoots over 2.02 rounds per second it should pump out just as many crits as the headsman :D
I've never used any precision rifles as my main weapon, but ngl it looks fun. Gonna give it a try.
Achilles/Widow Maker are awesome in that they can be used like a standard issue rifle. Sort of like the US Army’s M14 before they replaced it with the M16. It’s a slower firing weapon but it makes up for it with a really great spread, and it can be used effectively close up and also at range. Definitely give it a shot.
Any chance you plan to update this list now that 2.0 is out?
I gotta say I prefer the Achilles. The lower charging time is really great, especially in combination with sandevistan and when it comes to elemental damage I just never was a big fan of chemical/poison damages.
It's Burn damage now after 2.0.
I wish there was a repeater style precision rifle as that’s my all time favorite type of rifle like the Winchester Model 1866 or even a precision rifle that resembles the M1 Garand
Hypercritical IMO is super satysfying. I'm running with legendary and i just love how it sweep enemies in corridors sometimes even performing double kill or even tripple on weaker enemies. And love how it makes you feel like having automatic shotgun filled with slug shells.
Love the Hypercritical & the Achilles, though I hardly ever use widowmaker though I probably should, I do enjoy using the many different weapons to shoot the gangs just to see how well I fare

I used to love Widow Maker but I've since retired it on both of my characters. Each one had... issues. The game would constantly reroll the stats on them, sometimes I could simply just go in & back out of the inventory screen and it would be a totally different set of stats. They even corrupted weapon mods I had equipped. I remember one time it turned my mods into _null% legendaries when we didn't even have that tier available yet (introduced in subsequent updates).
idk how but i found a legendary Achilles that had this weird perk "fires two shots at once but significantly reduces rate of fire". though it only had one mod slot.
I used the hypercrit on my last run mostly cause i just like the feel of it.
I done that quest with panam along while ago, but never saw any gold square or gun after beating nash, rip, looks like it would have been really fun to use

Sometimes Nash doesn't appear in that fight. Apparently [per a comment above] he will show up and drop Widowmaker in the Basilisk fight.

Is there a Achilles variant that a scope can be mounter on? I have not yet found one that lets me use scope. Any help would be great...
Nope, tech weapons are notorious for not accepting attachments. No silencers and very few can take scopes either.
Hey I ran into a problem with the WidowMaker cause just last night I was playing the Ghost Town mission & for some reason Nash was not holding the WindowMaker & I couldn’t find it anywhere near him at all can somebody get back to me on what might be the problem?? I was playing at level 10 & do u have to be at a certain level to play the ghost town mission??
Been Trying out the SQR 14 as a main rifle. It is not a good CQB rifle. More like a designated marksman rifle. It is ok in the medium to long range use.
The rifle in the game needs more punch per round Tho, often taking 2-3 round to down a target.
Best way I can explain it as the difference between and AR16(intermediate caliber) and an AR10(full size 7.62 caliber.)
The Hypercritical rifle I found annoying for common use. For me it's too long to reload, fire and has a small magazine. If you're not at least far mid-range you get whacked quick. To me it seems more like an antimaterial weapon.
I got widowmaker early and it absolutely carried me through the game.
Widow Maker for me. I always use a Cyberdeck so pairing it with Sandivistan isn't an option for me. Plus I usually go for the Iconic versions as they feel more special.
With the Widowmaker or Achilles, why anyone would use a Sandy is beyond me. Just stand behind walls and kill kill and kill safe from harm at the same time. I mean with the deck, just sit outside the building, hack a camera, mark each enemy then exit camera and start shooting them through the building, finally walk in and collect the loot.
I just realized that widowmaker has significantly less damage per shot than regular Achilles, so the only unique benefit is more chance to apply poison which is not the main selling point of a tech weapon to begin with. I'm now seeing it as a poor man's Achilles since it takes significantly longer time to charge to full while not providing that much of a benefit.

anyone notice why does the Midnight arms Sor-22 and Hypercritical uses sniper ammo instead of rifle ammo like it's supposed to ? i dunno if it's a bug or what but it annoys me that it uses sniper ammo. Too low on reserve compare to Widow Maker

The hypercritical is a deafeningly powerful rifle from a visual/audio design standpoint. I'd be terrified to fire it in real life.
One thing I don't understand is: precision rifle is obviously the perfect candidate for mid-range sniping but you can't use silencer on precision rifle ... I really don't understand this
I like the looking of SOR-22 but Widow Maker does more damage with perks from Tech. I wish I could use SOR-22 with a silencer. This would be really nice combination for me.
Yeah, I understand the tech weapons not being able to use a silencer as none of them from any category can, but the other precision rifles should be able to.

Yes, another RUclipsr also rated Moron Labe the best assault rifle and he recommend using it as sniper rifle as well. I had been using it with silencer. But the problem I found is assault rifle single shot damage is not large enough as its DPS is partially from firing rate. It's not ideal for sniper shot. Another good assault rifle is Prejudice but you to have get it via special approach.
I found the precision rifle is more suitable candidate for snipe rifle but unfortunately you can't use silencer on it.
The Achilles is arguably better than the Widowmaker, but it is especially cool as it was featured in the trailers. You might be able to find a faster charging variant also.
Anyone wanting an Achilles early, should be rare lootable around the Cyberpsycho Valentino kid in Northside, and then theres a Epic copy in the Judy mission where you go looking for a certain someone!

After experiencing some real Semi-auto Rifle shenanigans in Enlisted, I just couldn't not love the SOR-22.
Hypercritical is over the top with explosive damage, and stuff, and the Achilles with it's charge mechanic just isn't that particularly fun to use when you're looking for a similar satisfaction.
The SOR-22 is just perfect.

They removed the ability to mount scopes so it wouldn't be too similar to the Nekomata. The sights on the Achilles are really good anyways so I didn't mind.
Just wish we got Kolacs outside of the Hypercritical. The fact that it looks like an old AT rifle sells it for me.

Main advantage of SOR 22 is quite low recoil, so its good if you havent invested points in asassault .

The problem with Widowmaker is that it's too good too early. Half way through the game, you get the best gun, and bye-bye to the looter aspect of this game. It kills every playthrough where I use it.
There are a few other weapons that give me this impression too, like Satori. In my Katana playthrough I swear I only switched that one because I wanted some variety, but if I just kept upgrading that weapon and leveling Crit stats I wouldn't need anything else in the game.
Widowmaker is somehow even stronger than that.
archilles is better than widowmaker since it has 50% faster charge time, even if dmg isnt as good u can fire more high charge shots in less time than widowmaker.
I cannot figure out why they removed the ability to attach scopes to tech precision rifles. 0% sense, and it really ruins their utility.

Are you going run and gun or trying to use the Assault Rifle like a sniper rifle. If the latter, then Moron Labe, as it has a slower rate of fire and therefore higher damage per bullet, otherwise I would say go with the Psalm, as its additional fire damage nearly procs every time.
Don't discount Fenris.

The MoronLabe works better for me. I literally hate the Copperhead and its variants...inaccurate trash, IMO. It can be made merely okay with the proper mods and muzzle brake.
