Loved this vlog Flora. You are a very happy soul even when running/walking through deep water and mud. Thank you for showing a typical training run after lots of heavy rain.
I'm itching to get out running again. I've been watching all your videos while isolating with COVID and they're just reminding me how nice a big run can be (mostly when they're done). Thanks.
Really enjoyed watching this. I know this route you took and was almost shouting/pointing at the video when you were trying to find the stairs up to bridge. You were so close, and then you found it. You brought the reality of running to life. Taking the ups with the downs whether crowds, pavement pains, waterlogged paths....another inspiring and motivational vlog. Thanks so much Flora. P.s. now gonna look up that mushroom risotto brand.
Your bubbly attitude when running is lovely to see. I did my first ever over 20km run two days ago and found myself smiling like a madman. Not quite to the"stick your tongue out" happy level, but I think I've well and truly caught the bug.
I really love how honest you are about just not wanting to know the distance. I feel like I am having a distance mental block. I am marathon training again and its like I have done the training and distance before but some reason the last few weeks the long runs are just like what is happening? you want me to how far?! So I've started to lie to myself on the distance and break it up otherwise I can't get out!
Yeah I think this is pretty common tbh! 🙈 you're not alone. I always give myself 'permission' to make up the miles in another run if I feel it's too much, but actually usually by the time I'm out for 2h, it might as well be 2.5 or 3 😅 you've got this!
Great video Flora, this has been the perfect motivation for my 10 mile run this morning! It's interesting to hear you mention the psychological effects of injury - I'm training for a 50 mile race on April 7th and am at that point where judging my body has become a challenge. Please remember to take a headtorch next time, that didn't look ideal for your safety!
happy to hear it motivated you to get out! :) Oooh amazing, good luck with that. Yes it's difficult to know how you body should feel when you're training very hard!
I'm always amazed by your videos. Not just by how far you run, but by how the heck you manage to hold a camera out at arms length for so long and manage to capture your face pretty centrally in all of the footage. You're like a selfie-queen 😀
Flora! That was the most stressful video of yours ever, though I did wonder if you were going to have to call Fiann to come pick you up somewhere in Wales…or if you’d accidentally run into the river in the darkness….or that you were going to strangle a football person out of sheer hanger…this vlog truly had it all! 😂
Good to see that your run in the dark had a happy ending and a terrific pace. It often feels faster when night running, which could just be fear or in your particular case a race to the fridge. Well deserved! Thanks for the tour Flora.
So pleased you are enjoying the book! Agree that Anna’s happy vibe shines through just like yours does! Well done on your run. My sons live in Bristol so it’s great to see some familiar places. I only got into running a year ago (you are young enough to be my daughter - Hahaa) but I just find your channel so inspiring and have my first half marathon coming up soon. All of your vlogs are brilliant. Well done and keep going! 👍🏼👍🏼😀😀
What a run!! I'm so glad you found that little conservation path... loud busy graffiti covered roads are my idea of running hell! 😆 I always have a mini first aid kit, wind breaker, and TP crammed into the bottom of my vest, and add whatever I'll need for that run, but I think I'll add a lightweight headlamp too. I often run at dusk, and am so grateful to live in a part of the world where I'm more worried about a twisted ankle than violence. I'll check out that book! And you're closing in on 50k subscribers... I'm going to literally squeal and dance around my house when you hit it!! 😆
Haha yeah I'm always upset to be on the road, but at least it was flat snd easy running 😅 oh yeah not too far off, but the march of progress is slow! Hopefully will be there in the summer maybe 🤗
I try my best to take advantage of any sunshine during the winter and go out for a run, (as long as it’s 20F or higher). Trudging through mud and a wet mess under gray clouds is definitely not fun!
Loved the "mission mindset" hunting the streets to that bridge ramp, real adventure running, not knowing the exact way but persisting until you find it, kudos! 👏 have you considered the nike pegasus shield versions, maybe an idea for clean runs where some soggy patches might emerge! Great video! 👍
Flora I have only come across you recently. I mainly train by myself during the week and with friends at the weekend in the mountains. I love your vlogs keep up the good work x
As an ex Bristol resident I whole heartedly concur about the football crowd and I wasn’t even a runner back then! Hope the rest of the block goes well 😊
Nice to see all the sights of my favourite Bristol routes! I'm training for Manchester Marathon, and looking for a good half marathon loop in Bristol if you have any recommendations.
Good evening for all the runners from Spain. Helpful video. Like for Flora. You are a stronger runner.....!!!!100 km..Wowwww!!!! A nice week for everyone. 🌦️🏃🌤️
Great run Flora very much impressed, I used to run when younger & these blogs bring the feeling of running back. Although I must say that last trail in the dark I don't think you should be doing that for your saftey. I have grandaughters a little younger than you (they play hockey) & would not like to see them on that trail in the dark.
You're right, but actually there is no way home (other than through the woods) at that point, and it was only 1km or so of seriously dark. But lesson learned to bring a head torch! 😅
Interesting , I am prepping (aged 58) for my first ultra this year but doing it on a very low to keto diet. I take cheese with me!! I can complete 2 to 2.5 hours fasted with no dips in energy and it works for me. Anyway, cracking video and inspiring, thanks. (subbed)
I'm also eating low carb diet, running fasted and usually don't eat or drink during a run, but I do take plain water and cheese for if I feel thirsty/hungry on my longer runs 👍 works great for me too.
Great effort flora,i was willing you to get back before dark but didnt hsve much faith when you was looking for the bridge steps😂i got out this weekend did a 10k saterday and 7.5 mile sunday🙌🙌💪🏃keep up the hard work😊😊
Trail runs here on the edge of the Peaks have been a case of fine, fine, fine, shin-deep. Given up worrying about keeping shoes clean, just staying on the feet is a win!
Am over in Gritstone territory and a lot of the paths over fields are pretty waterlogged and some of the bridal ways are a little muddy, the higher bits are mostly ok... Enjoy your weekend sploosh!
Preworkout changed me from non runner to runner, I think it's the beta alanine and hydration stuff in mine:). I make sure any stuff I take is 3rd party tested and list all ingredients:). Love your channel and your strava. I swear some people never run/show a slower than 6 or 7 minute mile no mater where they run or how long they run... smh lol.
Best timing!🤩🤩 I don't know if you remember me but I just got the best mark on my thesis! (Sustainability in sports) Your part just really made it a whole!☺️
Hi Flora, you have inspired me to do my first Ultra trail event, a 50km with 10 hour limit to complete, in all honesty, looking forward to post run eats: Pulled Pork BBQ, Craft-Beer Kegs(three types), River swimming(hopefully naked), and playing corn hole and horseshoes(An American thing I guess), unless if you "Bloody-Blokes" (don't know if I'm using this noun in the proper context) from over the pond play the same games? Wanting to know which training shoes you recommend for a newbie want to be Ultra person? And what kind of vest are you wearing, is it a water backpack of sorts? My goal is to have fun, enjoy the wilderness I'll be running/walking through and average between 10-11:45min/km, I guess given that pace I should be, hopefully make the 10 hour limit. Any recommendations Flora? I adore your amazing attitude! All the best in 2023!!
Amazing, huge good luck with it!! My vest is a 7L Columbia pac. Salomon also does great ones. It comes with 2x 500ml soft flasks which are necessary as a minimum for a 50k. Shoes everyone is so unique I wouldn't want to give any suggestions. Happy training!

Hey! Another Bristol runner here - I did an out and back along Portway a few days ago and got a new HM PB - a day after having set a new 10mi PB 😂 it's a good route for going fast but boring as hellllllllll. I'm new to Bristol so will try the other side of the river soon!

3hr long run is excellent and I did 2hr run yesterday evening for extreme slow speed for 6:30 to 7:00 pacing for only 16km run
