Hey mate! We were actually extremely fortunate with the BAL rating. We were not even required to get an assessment due to the fact that the front half of our block (where we’re building) was not in a “risky area” (pink zone). We originally wanted to build up the back, but that half of the block was in the pink zone and we do have quite a few trees up the back, we decided to avoid the headache and just build up the front. Sorry, I feel like that wasn’t helpful at all! Another video in the works right now 😊
I love your videos!!!! I was wondering if you’d consider making a video with a cost and time breakdown, I was looking into doing this with my family but when I search I can’t find much information on it
Thanks so much Kylara! Yep! I’m definitely keen to do this at the end (we’re nearly there 😅). I’ve also considered making a video about the beginning of the process (paperwork for owner building/insurance etc.) I feel like it’s super boring but there wasn’t a lot of info out there when we started.

Looks fantastic, we are moving off grid in a month and going to live in an old shed on-site.
