The most on-point, accurate and honest review of ISOM #2 And there's no way to unscramble it. Which means you've left me no choice. I'm calling the police.
You know nobody really cares if you guys give this book bad reviews right? I've seen people who are bigger and smaller comic fans than this guy, give better reviews for both of them. Do you honestly think that this guy's review is the absolute truth? Reviews are just opinions bro, no one's going to lose sleep over it at least of all the guy who made the book. Hell I read both of them, I didn't mind them, I actually enjoyed them, and I've seen plenty of other people basically say the same thing, I've heard these talking points about how you say the writer can't take criticism (which at this point I'm noticing is more of a projection than anything else) but clearly there are a lot of people that are buying them even this day and actually enjoying them, so....obviously people don't agree with you or him. 🤷
The biggest thing both comics lack is emotional impact. What's worse is that big emotional impact pay offs are set up but then the writing fumbles on the 1 yard line. Why Isom quit should have been a flashback that can parallel to that reason. Like he's about to lose a fight and someone will get hurt so he remembers the past and says "no, never again." Then find the strength to win. Instead it's just his old tailor buddy nonchalantly asking "so why you quit before? Oh that sucks well here's your suit."
This has all inspired me to work on my own writing again. I'm currently drafting out a story, but I'm creating my own world as a backdrop for said story. So it's tough
After watching EVS review ISOM I had to rewrite and redraw my comic. These honest critiques are a necessity for improving your books. Kudos to the reviewer.
Glad I listened to the little voice that kept screaming "NO" when the thought of supporting ISOM crossed my mind. The art alone wouldve drove me nuts, then theres the not so great colors, and from every real review i've seen a poorly handled writing job.
The naming conventions Eric uses is just awful. Im just now seeing this art for the first time and I nearly died of laughter when i saw the flashback villain!
Story editor, ISOM head writer - July should focus on RV overall and be the front man. His direct involvement in ISOM 1+2 writing isn't comparable to the old Marvel/DC stories and many other indy comics. Other indy comics have delays of month or years but have compelling stories, ISOM getting 2-4 releases a year but at best AVERAGE story/writing is diminishing returns
It's not new that superheroes have quit being superheroes when overcame by trials and tribulations, but just not in the second issue of the release even in a flashback ...
Nothing to really say besides i like this video. You present your opinions and reasoning well. It's a very entertaining video. Thanks I'm just amazed that Eric didn't hire a story editor. Creative writing is insanely hard and our brains can easily read over our own obvious mistakes.
Taking some time away from your work can help you realize those mistakes too; he has no plausible excuse to explain this blunder. He was simply too negligent because of his egomania.
Eric had always annoyed me but when this started I tried to be on his side. It felt like this started with people attacking the story to cover for other issues they had, whether that’s dick being a dick or Vito being jealous of his success. However the response immediately soured me to that stance. I still believe that but I just can’t support a child. This review seems fair but I wonder if Eric being Eric doesn’t bias anyone reviewing it. If he had chick Dixon ghost write the third book, would people still have the same problems with the writing. I guess chuck could make those mistakes but I doubt it. I think that would be an excellent experiment for Eric but I don’t think his ego would allow the possibility. This whole to thing seems so silly to any normal person. Had Eric just said hey I’ve never written a comic before so I’ll listen and try to improve, I think most people would turn grant him the learning curve. But his ego ultimately won out. He just slightly annoyed me before, but I actively dislike him now. It’s not the ego that made me dislike him, tons have that flaw. It’s the whole treatment of Nick and evs. Then recently on twitter some of his nutcase fans came out calling evs and Nick racist. Which it’s just a dipshit fan whatever. But then I saw Eric jump in the thread and argue with critics of this tactic. He was arguing about something unrelated but the fact that he was there tells me he saw the stuff and the fact that he didn’t try to correct it tells me he’s okay with sjw tactics of calling his critics racist. Any tiny support for him left in me ran out then
This is a great review! Hopefully Eric watches this (and doesn’t freak out and takes in the criticism). I don’t know why he doesn’t just hire a writer with all the money he raised. Just tell the writer what you key moments are, the story and the things you need. Keep a tight oversight on it so it still feels like your story but written properly. Anyways great vid you got a sub 👏👏
Sadly that won't happen especially considering the disgraceful act of how Eric's grandfather's grave was discredited. also, Isom is his grandfather's name, meaning the comic book Isom means a lot to him, hence why I sensed his disagreements on the criticisms of Isom aren't going so well.
I think Eric wanted to be the writer that launched the Rippaverse, or maybe he just couldn't afford to do otherwise until after Isom 1, but I would be surprised if he kept writing after Isom #3. He's been steadily adding veteran writers and artists to the payroll and my hunch is that he will focus on the marketing/business side moving forward.
@@lordcorporal4247 Yeah it would be good to have a better editor on staff but as I've seen someone else note: Those are the types of mistakes which people ignore if they like a book and which stick out if they don't.
@@ethanhandel1001 Have you SEEN the losers getting a job in the establishment media? They can't write to save their lives EITHER! At least if Eric keeps the writing, he keeps it IN HOUSE AND he keeps quality under control. It's up to HIM now where he wants to take the story.
13:11 THIS. Forced worldbuilding and story subplot overload perhaps the biggest problem. Moreso than world building, a lot new character introductions to serve as launch pads for other books. So they're not there to serve the story, they are advertisements. Pick a main plot, maybe a B plot and stick with it, keep it simple. Even then the actions of the characters dont make sense. Why did aavery go back to the ranch after getting his suit? The ranch being attacked by demon monkeys should have been the cliffhanger for the next arc. It would make more sense for Avery to have stayed in the city to protect his family. He didnt even have a sense of urgency to find Sam. Its implied Avery can heal fast as Goodying points out how his shoulder wound healed fast thinking it was the ointment. If he can heal fast why would he need to rest? What is the extent of his healing abilities? Here's the big rearranging you would do, if you HAVE to have Avery falling asleep, rhats when you continue the flashback to the Chadran attack. But no, we need Larry Shungite. Alphacore, these 3 goofballs are in charge of law enforcement in post seperation Texas? They just dont have that sense of powerful authority figures. Goodying, just lame. Lame design, lame robots designs. A lab that looks about the same as the room Alphacore was in. Btw, if Avery is paying Goodying for services, why didnt Goodying offer to let Avery use a flying robot to get to Blood Ruth's castle faster? Oh wait no we needed the Ford F 150 commercial. Art is dull, flat, doesnt have that wow factor. A lot of repetive head angles which contributes to an overall sense of boringness, proof: twitter. com/thomasroiloup/status/1711232614881697793?t=aOtocqPD4ZQgYlvB3xKkdA&s=19 The best thing about Isom is all the reviews like this one that remind creators of the basics.
Great review! Hard to find as well! None of his buddies would dare to talk about the story. They will promote it though based on...something! Will be hard for any of them to come for you as you articulate everything very well and seem like a reasonable unbiased reviewer. Cheers!
One of Eric’s shills defended saying they aren’t really comic readers in that level so reviewing it would be redundant I’m sorry but BS.if the characters were good, story kept you interested, writing was good, and art was excellent, you ain’t gotta be a “expert” to say all that 😂
They decidedly do not talk about it or say anything related to it being good or bad. They wear the shirts and tell you they preordered it with their own money, but hey never say "Isom #2 came in the mail today and I read it cover to cover and couldn't put it down because it was so darn good". All you hear from them is Isom is great. Nothing else. 4 diehard comics lovers that can tell you issue, year, writer, penciler, inker, and colorist on every issue for years, but won't give an opinion on Isom. I think that tells you what they really think of it.
Basically, in any movie (good or bad) or even any comic book, a flashback that happens after a scene is directly related to that scene. It's pretty basic storytelling. Isom SHOULD be flashing back after some conversation regarding why he retired. It creates a narrative continuity that the reader's brain naturally follows. Looks like eric didn't respect the continuity though.
Exactly! Flashbacks to the past don't really bother me when its later in the story (See my reference to The Goon). When it's early on, it always feels to me like it should have just been how the story started. I read Berserk recently and one of my problems was how Guts's back story is revealed after three volumes and then takes up about 1/3 of the series. I know with how manga is serialized it was a couple years before it was revealed but with how it takes up a great deal of the story, I feel that series should have began with a baby born from a corpse.
@@OhNoJeszilla I've watched both of your isom videos And they're both really good. As someone who wants to make his own story somedays these are very informed then help me a lot to understand what I need to do for my characters and stories to make sense. So thank you for this informed video and keep up the good work
Excellent Review! I've just finished watching your review of both ISOM #1 and #2. What really elevates your review is that you give plenty examples of other comic books to compare ISOM to and show how hard it fails at accomplishing the simplest things.
it's weird looking too. The one part where isom punches the big scary monster, his shoulder is in front of his chin. That is such a weird way to punch 😂
This is an example of learning how to draw vs WHY. The guy has talent as an artist. He can draw faces, costumes, monsters, etc. But nothing is dynamic, no expression, no emotion. All the stuff that makes a comic what it is.
@@Lastlineshow He should make Isom a coward in the next issue, maybe he had some flashback to his dad walking out and he just gives up and hides. Then working up the courage to get back let alone save the day, would be a great arch.
Some small hint in the first issue about hell monkies. Of all the setup they did in the first issue. They didn't feel the need to set up that demons, magic and the supernatural are a thing in this world. That seems like an issue number one type of thing. If the second issue is gonna involve it. The only setup for the second one was the Ranch hand.
Imagine if W.I.T.C.H. mashed up The Twelve Portals, Nerissa's Revenge, and A Crisis on Both Worlds all in not just one arc, but one issue. It would be laughably stupid and would be extremely unfocused, feeling like a bad episode of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. This is basically Isom #2 in a nutshell. A bloated mess that looks like someone threw up all over the already mediocre artwork from the previous issue.
@@jamesaction138 @aleccampbell7707 I'll take the part about volume under advisement but I'll probably keep the music. I'm still fiddling with what the right level is for a backing track. It just bothers me having nothing in the background when I have to hear myself speak when editing the audio/test viewing.
@@badnewsjp I really appreciate the feedback you guys. I'll keep fiddling with the volume levels to get something that is a better mix. Is there anything else I might be overlooking that I can approve on? Well, outside of working on annunciating more clearly, sounding less like I'm reading a script, and being more dynamic with my editing. Every little bit helps me try to learn to be better!
Isom 2 should've been about a pissed-off Darren framing Avery and siccing Alphacore on him. Avery is more than a little rusty but wouldn't be able to take on all of them at once anyway. So he's laying low and trying to clear his name with the help of his man in the chair who just so happens to come across vital information pertaining to Yaira whom Alphacore are gunning for. Avery offers up said information in return for being let off the hook, Alphacore agree and get to showcase their ethics by returning the handsome paycheck they received to Darren. Isom 3 can strengthen the connective tissue with an Alphacore/Isom team-up. They're hard at work tracking down Yaira who's been cutting a swath of destruction across America and must be contained. Whenever they interrogate witnesses or encounter her directly she seems confused as though she weren't quite herself. Tie it back to Darren who discovered her - either unearthing her ancient tomb or bagging and tagging her once she crash-landed on Earth with a fuzzy memory of both her home planet and her identity - and has been manipulating and gaslighting her in pursuit of an artefact that could bring a relative of his back from the dead. But wielding said artefact could pierce the veil to the Great Beyond and attract uninvited guests into our realm - a natural entry point for Bloodruth and those literal Metal Gods, which could and should be explored in depth in Yaira, Goodyng and Bloodruth solo comics.
Hate to be that guy, but there's no way this book succeeds without ideological loyalty. Its exactly what C-Gate people complain about in mainstream comics.
The reason why he waited a day to rescue Sam was so that his arm would heal properly and him not immediately going after Darren? Well he knows Lincoln is keeping an eye on his sister and niece so he doesn't need to worry about them as much. In ISOM #3 he'll have to face the consequences of his actions in ISOM #1, maybe we'll see a team up with him and Lincoln in the finale. Plotlines that need resolving - Avery Vs Darren - Jasmine We will find out what Yaira is up to in her comic coming early next year and I'm sure someone is going to die in the third issue but who? Altona or Jasmine?
@@badnewsjpI commented on his vid about how i was hoping he would listen to good faith criticism since there are many out there and he commented saying he only listens to Chuck lol your comment summed it up perfectly
The thing I really don't get is what is pointing dude's level. He's blackmailed Jasmine (somehow) to (maybe) be a prostitute. And has a nightclub. So he's basically a just a pimp. And then he can infiltrate not-Tony Stark's building to threaten people and bribe his bodyguard to kill him. So he's closer to being the Kingpin? But then why does he give a damn about a single prostitute? It's like if the Kingpin started a feud with a superhero because they arrested the sketchy guy who sells weed to teens. It's way below him, except we don't know if he's actually high level. And same goes for Isom, who effs up completely a simple wellness check so badly his family is now in danger, abandons mission mid way, and then suddenly gets into a fight with interdimenaional invaders and does well. Comic is a mess.
I dont... What is going on here? Theres like 50 random plots jammed in together. Of course July needs too much exposition, he has 5 different things happening at the same time and literally none of them are tied together at all. Does the mobster guy order around the demon monkeys? Does alpha cor[p] know about darren? Does yairah(?) have anything to do with the witch spells? Why is the International School of Ministry doing anything that he does?
The Hellions might be for Bloodruth when her comic comes out either next year or the year after. The various character scenes are to sell you on the different characters and their stories which will branch out from the Ill-advised arc
@@CreativeWM_Personal I mean, seems kinda wild to spend what is it, $45 on an advertisement for a bunch of comics that don't exist yet? Bloodruth seems like she could be an interesting character, but from what I'm seeing in this, she just isn't. I didn't even make that connection because she seems so detached from them. So does Isom just stumble in and out of other character's plots never actually accomplishing things in his own arc?
@@ericm1839 with Yaira and AlphaCore, their events just happened to be happening alongside his and he gets tangled up with them briefly. Lincoln seems to be important to ISOM's story going forward and he did come prepared for the ambush (metal detector scene), so I wouldn't count him out but he does hold an interest in the wrestling promotion. Bloodruth will deal with the Hellions since Avery has secured Sam's safety thus tying up that plotline. Goodyng serves the people of shadow valley who don't get much in the way of reliable public services, I reckon his stories will be standalone plots. Darren firing Santwan could be his undoing since both he and Avery are prideful individuals, Avery will swallow his pride and accept help whereas Darren won't. Which will lead to his downfall as Mick Davies closes in on him wanting to make a meaningful difference. Remember that ISOM is not just the first issue of a new Superhero, but also a launching pad for a whole universe. Eric has to balance out world building with storytelling which isn't easy to do, one thing writers need to avoid is exposition dumping and making their comics wordy. So far Eric has done a good job in my opinion, but I can see room for improvement. I hope that ISOM #3 can tie up the main story of the arc and gives us a new perspective on the last 2 issues when we reread them.
@@CreativeWM_Personal I get why people are excited for these outside characters written by actual, experienced comic writers. I don't understand why anyone is excited for Isom. It seems like a meandering non-story with zero clear motivations of any characters. I think the benefit of Eric July's bland and uninteresting writing style is that it lets the experienced comic writers start with a more-or-less blank slate for their characters' motives and development, I just don't know how anyone could be excited about more Isom because I don't think the story is going anywhere for any reason
@@ericm1839 I think people have become a bit jaded with Superhero stories, ISOM is a street level character like Dare Devil but he quit because he failed to stopped Chadrun from killing the cosplay girl. His pride made him quit because he thought himself as a failure and now the situation with Darren (also because of his pride) has forced him to put the costume on again to settle a score with his old homie, with Sam being kidnapped ISOM has to abandon his fear and become the hero he should've been. One who fights to save people no matter what, one who doesn't quit no matter how bad things get. I think things will get deadly serious in part 3 and Eric is taking advice from Chuck Dixon with how to write certain things. As Chuck puts it, Eric has talent as a writer so let's see how he grows with each project under his belt. After ISOM #3 I think he will be writing Norfica as they seem to be important going forward with a bigger plot brewing, one that'll probably involve Dokumaan and this selection thing he talks about in the original trailer for ISOM #1.
So many questions that have no answers Why in the hell Avery need a gun when he clearly has superpowers? What illegal work does Darren do? Is Jasmine important to the story? Is this a prelude to Primal Rage? Why is Avery's ego is so fragile? Why does Larry entering the ring like Angela Love? Who's Bloodruth? I expect Avery will have a new name due to the lawsuit but the character will likely be dropped. The next story will be Crackdo... Uh Alpha"core"
All things we will probably never know. A viewer was nice enough to buy me Alphacorps, so I'll be covering that for January instead of TBD like I previously thought.
I love how at 26:49 Bloodruth asks Avery what he can do and he just ignores the question. Even Avery doesn't know what his own powers are! This comic is such a joke. A really, really bad joke.
Listen, don't you know that you're supposed to pay for services like firefighters and police because they should be private businesses and not public services? Its similar to this comic. You'll be paying extra for services and content that isn't needed and wasn't requested.
It made me thing of that part in the Harry Canyon segment of Heavy Metal where the MC walks into a police station to report a murder and the desk sergeant starts rattling off how much an investigation cost up front, per day after, and additional fees if the suspect is prosecuted.
@@OhNoJeszilla except in ISOM it isn't a parody, this is what July wants in real life. But again, this is why we compare good writing to bad writing. One clearly shows depth and subtext while the other is just text.
I noticed this too. This is where some of July's personal philosophy started to leak into the comic, which I thought was the very thing he started his own imprint to get away from. The idea of paying fair market value for everything and only providing exactly what was contracted for ahead of time, it's very Randian. It's also pretty much the exact opposite of how traditional superheroes operate. There was also that offhand reference to the Great War or Separation, which I get the feeling is some sort of Texas secession thing, which could, in turn, explain some of the odd details of the setting.
@@DoktorRockszo I think that I've seen some of the reviews point this out. The Texas that this "story" takes place on has seceded from the union. Funny how mainstream pop culture is too political yet these two issues are rife with political nonsense.
I bought/pre-ordered Isom #1 being really excited about it. Upon reading it, however, I found myself quite bored before I finished it. Maybe I just expected too much (I did) but the way Eric July constantly bashes new comics, I expected it to be something truly exciting to read. Instead, I found myself wondering when it was going to end. Just felt very bland, from story, to art, to dialogue. I didn't order Isom 2, and I guess I'm glad I didn't. I can't justify spending $30-50 on a comic I find just mediocre. Good luck to you Mr. July. I know he has his supporters, but I just can't be one.
I Like IT even though IT has its Problems WE have also to consider that He IS new in the Comic creating space its very easy to critize Something but creating IS way Harder. What IS also annoying its very hard to find Reviews of isom that have a Bit rose glasses Like me or Just haters Not of the Comic but Eric July AS a Person directly seriously i watched at least 20 Videos about rippaverse isom sucks and NONE of them Talk about the Comic they Just whine about Eric July, they are the usual suspects of leftists WHO dont Like him but also many Comicsgate Guys WHO are Jealous of His success and cope that He uses some wizardy . What Eric July Lacks in Comic writing skills He makes Up in Marketing and Business skills a Thing Comic creators especially the Comicsgate guys that complain should adapt to their own work
the tweet here at 10:59 shows that Eric clearly didnt learn that lesson properly because hes using it in the wrong way. Abandoning trying to be perfect refers to performances because music itself is only alive during the moment it is played and when you improv or jam some times mistakes will be made, cues will get missed, notes will be sour. The lyrics on the record, studio recording in general and the written word are all things that require refinement because of their pursuit for the ideal. There are bands who gave up on trying to "be perfect" in the studio simply because they weremt able to capture the same magic that happened during live shows. The Grateful Dead are a perfect example of this.
I've gotten a lot of compliments with how it was mixed for this one. I'm still trying to learn how to do that properly with the crappy editing software i'm currently using. I've learned from the release of this one that when I'm editing, the music sounds much softer than what it does in the final product. I was in a rush to get this one released so I didn't watch the final mp4 before uploading it thinking everything was fine based off my watch of it in the editing software. I've been told the mixing is better in the two vids i've done after this, just let me know what you think.
@@lancemartin6782 Oh, you're good! I knew you weren't and I do appreciate the feedback. I'm still trying to figure this a out and want to know what I can do to improve.
Very big problem with Isom From the first book it is implied that Isom has superspeed This means that any action scene afterwards should have Avery attempt to use it His injury caused by the demons could me mitigated if he was fighting them at superspeed

This was never going to be an actually good comic. The entire pretense was political it was never about the comic itself. It was Rippa capitalizing in people not happy with current comic stories. It was more about making $ from the sucker that hate "woke" comics. Rippa had no other reason to make these comics. Sad because with competent writers and an Artist that actually cared could have berm a sharp stick in the rye to modern hack writers. Just look at the names of these characters to see how no one cared about the story or stories. Jeez a five year old could thunk of better names.
191 pages and only 2/3 done with only 1/3 the story, that 15 more then Rick Veitchs The Maximortal, that also made me think of Two Fisted Zombies which he did in the 70s when he was half of Erics age and both (separately) the art and story are many times better then anything Eric could put his name to

It’s from the channel, World Class Bullshitters. The premise is great but it’s hard to trust those people who claimed they defend pop culture. If you’re into novels, can you read Shadow of the Conqueror by Shad M. Brooks. Yes it’s one of those guys again. I’m not their hater or anything but every channel I come across are singing praises over their so-called masterpiece.
Howdy! I appreciate the sentiment but I don't feel anywhere near ready to create a Patreon yet or met the requirements to monetize on RUclips. I'm still learning how to do this and at the current rat of a single video a month makes me very hesitant to start asking folks for their money. I have no plans to cover novels, unless it's a comic adaptation that's fairly close, but I'm always open to suggestions to movies or comics. I've looked up Stealing Solo and added it to my list. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
I am surprised the art is is boring as it is. The marketing material made it clear this was supposed to be hand drawn but they definitely use 3D assets. I personally believe that Eric July is too ignorant to judge art, and that the artist ran away with the money.
45:18 OH, that's just mean, putting ISOM next to The Crow is like putting it next to some Richard Corben, R. Crumb or Jack karz's First Kingdom, it putting play pretend art next to actual art,..... Well, call me Mike Stoklasa because how embarrassing
Hahaha! That was kinda a carry over from my Isom 1 review. I bought myself a new copy of The Crow and used it in the same way of just a price to page comparison and getting a comprehensive story out of one. There was one fella who made a similar comment somewhere here about me using Rosemary's Baby as an example of a slow burn. 🤣
Wow, and here I thought Isom 1 was already a convoluted mess with too much stuff thrown in to give some illusion of grandeur. (Superhero cops! A superhero tailor! A blonde chick who flies! That farm! And nobody seems to know what Isom's powers actually are, not even Eric July himself.) July wants to build a right wing media empire so badly that the core franchise of that alleged empire already suffers from it. Way to go, champ, keep on grifting, make more shitty comics "to own the libs", that's the only way to sell this crap.
Unfortunately, I have no plans to cover novels... However, if Shad puts all of those long hard hours of having a computer make artwork for him and does a comic adaptation of it, I'll give it a read.

The novel was trash and so was the second issue cool side characters but the main character trash to me and personally thinking Eric act like his shit don't stuck but the first two issues was pure dog shit
ISOM is a good comic. It's an inspiring message to the LGBTQIA2S+ community on what to do when someone disrespects them. The Rainbow community should 'pull-up' to the warehouse of Eric July and the gravesite of his ancestors to twerk their support for the Rippaverse.
Dude, with the price of printing books being what they are. ISOM is priced fairly for the page count and paper quality you're getting, Eric doesn't like the cheap baking paper Marvel and DC use. Also digital sales aren't as high you think they are for comics and they lead to increased piracy as well, something that Eric isn't too keen on.
regardless of the cost of printing theres some ugly shit happening on these pages and i dont mean the poses or the designs. The print quality looks speckled and very bad because of it
46:33 I'm more of a The Jam kind of a man, I think that has more to do with me being a black and white outlaw Michigan borned CHUD bastard, so I know better
Review is on point. As for Alphacore they seem the least interesting out of all the characters introduced. Though I am curious how the guy who made a weird QAnon comic Chuck Dixon does to a story about Space Cops lol that won’t be weird at all I’m sure
Out of the thousands of comics Dixon wrote you reference that? He co created Bane and wrote the Punisher, Conan, Nightwing and he's collaborating with Sylvester Stallone on a movie.
A thing i noticed about ISOM's story that it is designed very similar to Berserk but all kinds of incompetent (and I'm not just talking about thee "art"). For someone who says he wants to being back Normie American style comics (that we're made intended for children) with all the buzzwords, why is it designed to appeal for Weebs?
Everyone hating on dude for being creative and just trying to do something different that will be better than what is out already. @Jeszilla I'm not threatened at all kiddo, you created this channel to directly disparage Eric for no other reason. It is sad that people like you are threatened by the fact somebody is more creative than you and it is why you can't cope with it. BTW I agree that you have moronic opinions.
Say I heard from the grapevine that you went to Eric July's great grandfathers grave, and took a picture of yourself doing that just to troll, is that true? Because if it is "and i'm speaking as an onlooker" that wasn't funny, that was a very scummy and cowardly thing to do, especially if you wore a mask while you did it. You don't have to like his books, but the fact that you harass him and his fans just to laugh at them is what a bully does, and it wasn't just his fans that found it disrespectful, surprisingly they were onlookers, other comic book writers, and even some of the antis agree as well. By trying to make him into a joke, you ended up becoming an alogger. That alone makes me not want to subscribe to you. You can accuse me of whatever it is you want "I've noticed a lot of antis seem to do that to anyone who disagrees with them even the slightest" it's always just a joke until it ends up not being one, I enjoy dark humor I won't lie to you, but that's mostly in fiction, stuff like that in real life is just harsh 🤦 Get help.
Yeah, that's been a common complaint. I'm still learning about editing and trying to figure out the proper levels has been a problem. I wear headphones when mixing the audio and it didn't sound nearly as loud as the final product turned out to be. This video taught me to do a test viewing both before and after I export the final file.
It blows my mind watching the antishills become shills themselves. You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
As someone into writing and composion music, that tweet infuriated me. There's a difference between not being perfect and EDITING YOUR DAMN WORK.
The most on-point, accurate and honest review of ISOM #2
And there's no way to unscramble it.
Which means you've left me no choice.
I'm calling the police.
Haha. Awesome.
Great review but unfortunately you have committed grave tom foolery and will be arrested promptly
In good faith 🙏
Haha 😂

Well if you weren't before, you're definitely on the list now.📃

This has all inspired me to work on my own writing again. I'm currently drafting out a story, but I'm creating my own world as a backdrop for said story. So it's tough
Keep going!!
Same, I can't stand this art. And after hearing VanScivers review of #1 the other day I am really glad I didn't waste my money.
I wish that voice hade talked to me
Story editor, ISOM head writer - July should focus on RV overall and be the front man.
If Peter Parker became Isom.
Peter Parker gets Isom powers.
Uncle Ben dies.
Peter Parker quits.
Peter Parker falls on a car for every following issue.
It's not new that superheroes have quit being superheroes when overcame by trials and tribulations, but just not in the second issue of the release even in a flashback ...
Nothing to really say besides i like this video. You present your opinions and reasoning well. It's a very entertaining video. Thanks
I'm just amazed that Eric didn't hire a story editor. Creative writing is insanely hard and our brains can easily read over our own obvious mistakes.
Taking some time away from your work can help you realize those mistakes too; he has no plausible excuse to explain this blunder. He was simply too negligent because of his egomania.
Wow, Eric needs a lot of help.
But seeing as how he acts, he's gonna end up being his own worst enemy. So arrogant.
Mark miller gave the thumbs up to the isom comic,he ain’t listening to nobody now 😂
@@brandonspencer5594 He was probably drunk.
Any tiny support for him left in me ran out then
I feel the same. I don’t like or even respect Eric July. I think he’s a dangerous person
@@Linklex7 I’m not sure that opinion agrees with what I said but fair enough. I understand
@@Linklex7Dangerous? You need to get out more
This is a great review!
@@ethanhandel1001 hopefully he just at the very least gets someone to grammar/punctuation/spellcheck 😂
@@lordcorporal4247 Yeah it would be good to have a better editor on staff but as I've seen someone else note:
Those are the types of mistakes which people ignore if they like a book and which stick out if they don't.
So they're
not there to serve the story, they are advertisements.
A lot of repetive head angles which contributes to an overall sense of boringness, proof: twitter. com/thomasroiloup/status/1711232614881697793?t=aOtocqPD4ZQgYlvB3xKkdA&s=19
The best thing about Isom is all the reviews like this one that remind creators of the basics.
Great review! Hard to find as well! None of his buddies would dare to talk about the story. They will promote it though based on...something!
Will be hard for any of them to come for you as you articulate everything very well and seem like a reasonable unbiased reviewer.
Cheers!
One of Eric’s shills defended saying they aren’t really comic readers in that level so reviewing it would be redundant
I’m sorry but BS.if the characters were good, story kept you interested, writing was good, and art was excellent, you ain’t gotta be a “expert” to say all that 😂
They decidedly do not talk about it or say anything related to it being good or bad.
A manga is 121 pages no color complete with arks and only 8-10$ who pays 40$ for a comic book goodness.
In this case people who agree with the creators politics or people who want to spite the big corporations.
Love your content brother. I know this is gonna be amazing.

Excellent Review!
I've just finished watching your review of both ISOM #1 and #2.
What really elevates your review is that you give plenty examples of other comic books to compare ISOM to and show how hard it fails at accomplishing the simplest things.
The art in this book is deathly boring
it's weird looking too.
That’s the perfect way to put it. Not bad but utterly boring and not memorable at all
@@Lastlineshow He should make Isom a coward in the next issue, maybe he had some flashback to his dad walking out and he just gives up and hides.
Then working up the courage to get back let alone save the day, would be a great arch.
It’s better then the sjw art style
I've been waiting on this one!
That awesome cover with his arms spread and alll the faces, man, what a false sell 😭
Best part of Isom is the EVS cover.
The Dick Show episode on which you made an appearance was great, I had a great laugh.
@Moronic Opinions: Any interest in reviewing my soon to be completed comic?
what's the name, he might want to do it.
The art of the demon monkies is awful. The tusks protrude from nothing on their faces in many of the pictures.
Background music was a little too loud and obnoxious
Yeah, just an observation. Drop the 8 bit music when you're speaking. Love the review and like what you're doing here. *subscribed

@@OhNoJeszillacould cut the music volume in half or drop it. Only complaint - this is an excellent video
@@badnewsjp I really appreciate the feedback you guys. I'll keep fiddling with the volume levels to get something that is a better mix. Large jump in quality from Ep1 to Ep3, @moronicopinions ! I likwd the first one, but cool to see such fast growth. :) Keep rockin'.
Superfriends cut 🤣
25:50 I think he means "Even though I'm in the middle of nowhere, my truck is good enough to handle the terrain"
Oh cool I was hoping you'd do another one of these
Jasmine is not Avery's niece. At least not in Eric's version
Hate to be that guy, but there's no way this book succeeds without ideological loyalty. Its exactly what C-Gate people complain about in mainstream comics.
And you would be right on the money my friend
there are like 60,000 fans at best, but more likely it's 30,000-ish since a ton of them buy multiple covers of the same comic book
Plotlines that need resolving
- Avery Vs Darren
- Jasmine
We will find out what Yaira is up to in her comic coming early next year and I'm sure someone is going to die in the third issue but who? Altona or Jasmine?

Fantastic review. Keep it up
Do you only review final products? I have a rough draft volume of five individual one shots that I could throw at you. Each is around 22 pages.
I love this guy he needs to more videos
Great vid
love the NES background music. Good pacing and structure to this review, unlike it's subject matter. LOL

Nice review, thorough, well done
the tweet here at 10:59 shows that Eric clearly didnt learn that lesson properly because hes using it in the wrong way.
So many blonde women getting beaten up, is Eric trying to tell us something? lol

@@lancemartin6782 Oh, you're good! I knew you weren't and I do appreciate the feedback. I'm still trying to figure this a out and want to know what I can do to improve.
Very big problem with Isom
From the first book it is implied that Isom has superspeed
This means that any action scene afterwards should have Avery attempt to use it
His injury caused by the demons could me mitigated if he was fighting them at superspeed
hey aren’t you the guy that went to the gravesite?
Eric July never visited Isom Knox 😂😂
@@MartinMartin-bh4ke idk about that, i just know a weird ass nerd that has never been into any physical altercation in his life did and should get his ass beat for it!
@@codenamecadethe is the guy, I just got him to admit it in my comment bro.
@@brightlord-ov7cm it really sucks that nowadays you can’t put your hands on people and lame pieces of shit like this can just laugh in the confines of his own home and not fear for his safety. karma is a bitch, i’ll tell you that! 🤣
DAMN what is up with the print quality? This looks like its got a photoshop texture over every last panel!
The print quality might be due to the scan I made. While I stand by what I said about the art, The print quality of the book itself is fine.
@@OhNoJeszilla the only reason I'm glad to hear this is for the sake of the poor people who actually paid top dollar to read it.
191 pages and only 2/3 done with only 1/3 the story, that 15 more then Rick Veitchs The Maximortal, that also made me think of Two Fisted Zombies which he did in the 70s when he was half of Erics age and both (separately) the art and story are many times better then anything Eric could put his name to
New subscriber here. I would appreciate if you have some Patreon or Join button to give you at least a cup of coffee.
Also, can you review: Stealing Solo.
I enjoy your video style & commentary. Haven’t bought any Rippa $ thanks to you I won’t. @ save money
Did you get Shadow of the Conquerer? Would love a review?
I don't think they've quite shipped yet.
@@WigglyMcWiggly right. Just wondering if he’ll be getting a copy when it does finally ship lol. Been so long.
Unfortunately, I have no plans to cover novels... However, if Shad puts all of those long hard hours of having a computer make artwork for him and does a comic adaptation of it, I'll give it a read.
@@OhNoJeszilla yo he straight up did! I contributed to the campaign. He’s got Mike S. Miller on art. He did injustice. It should be shipping out this week or next week. I saw some reviews of the book, but they don’t go into it like you do. If you want, I can send it out to you after I’m done reading it!
@@CineBon23 Oh! I thought it was just a novel! My bad! I have my next several videos planned but I'll try to give it a look later down the road.
It's average. I wonder what this comic would look like in B&W because the electronic coloring and inking is shit. Needs to find a better artist.
Bad art lol
Lol that is a lie lol 😂😂
regardless of the cost of printing theres some ugly shit happening on these pages and i dont mean the poses or the designs.
And yet people are hyped for it, truth be told I'm sceptical about it but I will give it a fair shot.
Out of the thousands of comics Dixon wrote you reference that? He co created Bane and wrote the Punisher, Conan, Nightwing and he's collaborating with Sylvester Stallone on a movie.
@@HiddenHandMediacool
What comic has he worked on in the past 10 years?
You're not Movie Blob in disguise, are you?
A thing i noticed about ISOM's story that it is designed very similar to Berserk but all kinds of incompetent (and I'm not just talking about thee "art"). For someone who says he wants to being back Normie American style comics (that we're made intended for children) with all the buzzwords, why is it designed to appeal for Weebs?
This art is soo lifeless
Everyone hating on dude for being creative and just trying to do something different that will be better than what is out already. He just started give him 5 years like with any business just starting, either it will progress positively or it won't and his business will go bust, but, doing what it is you are doing is only trying to hurt his business on purpose. Grow up.
haha you cant be serious 😂
@MartinMartin-bh4ke more so than your hating arse. At least I know how to be respectful to him. You noticed this clown with the channel didn't start making videos until he came along, it is either on purpose or he knows him irl and has beef and throwing out hate on him so he fails on purpose. Like I said grow up kiddo.
@@brightlord-ov7cm Everything you just say just sounds like the rankings of a fan boy who doesn't want to admit that the comic he likes might actually be kind of bad
Eric possibly being a better writer in five years doesn't help him now or make a previously bad story suddenly good. Why are you so threatened by someone who disagrees with you?
@Jeszilla I'm not threatened at all kiddo, you created this channel to directly disparage Eric for no other reason. It is sad that people like you are threatened by the fact somebody is more creative than you and it is why you can't cope with it. BTW I agree that you have moronic opinions.
Please, do compare ISOM to Rosemary's baby, why don't ya🤣
Bad names for places & characters
You should drastically lower the volume to the 8 bit music. I found that shit incredibly distracting and annoying while trying to hear your review.
Yeah, that's been a common complaint. I'm still learning about editing and trying to figure out the proper levels has been a problem. I wear headphones when mixing the audio and it didn't sound nearly as loud as the final product turned out to be. This video taught me to do a test viewing both before and after I export the final file.
