    The good old days of Country Calendar on a Sunday you didn't dare miss and amazing the number of people who thought it was kosher, brilliant stuff!!

      I saw this in my early teens and was gobsmacked. Couldn't make head nor tails of it.
      Find it pretty dull now except the shots of Fred $ sons walking single file which I really enjoyed. (Early days in the evolutionary process for this bunch of Daggs).....

    I was Living in Taupo in the Mid 70's , My then Daughter , absolutely loved your add, ( the one with the Bythenzol Paste Gun , she could mimic you to a Tee )

    I was a Fred Dagg fan before he became Fred Dagg! John Clarke started his comedy career in local TV comedy sitcom called "Buck House" and even then quickly became a household favourite ; his catchphrase was "That'll be the door" whenever someone knocked. oh well, you had to be there, i guess!

    For what we are about to receive, we must remember to thank the ol' Sheila... I'm thinking of going into town today so I want the number plate taking off the tractor and putting on the Land Rover..... my god he was good wasn't he? There'll never be another John Clarke!

      Good ol' NZ. Well have to say that his humour was far closer to the truth than some people would like to admit. I worked on 2 dairy farms as a teenager and there was no humour and the scenery was much as you see here. Depressing.

    Absolutely Priceless!! Echoes of Monty Python. Mocking everyone, esp himself…the days when people understood that thoughtful, clever humor is about commiserating around shared foibles/flaws, not about creating victims. II miss my years in NZ 87 & 91, the farmer/sheep conspiracies, the over-confident & Wild West attitudes of ski/raft/jump/ locals, the depression-era culture there(fix things!), and Michelle!

    I recall hearing from a Kiwi friend of mine that the city-dwellers in New Zealand took this episode of Country Calendar seriously, probably because it was (and still is) usually a serious programme showcasing various farms around the country.

    I wonder why there are never any opening or closing credits on these old NZ shows? Were they super-imposed only during the actual broadcast? That might make sense ... they only really seemed to use film over videotape

    When New Zealand English was charming. Men were blokes or jokers; seldom "guys". Refreshingly free of cringeworthy American slang such as "awesome" or "absolutely". Intonation free of uptalk. Wonderfully dry delivery. Those were the days.
