Absolutely Priceless!! Echoes of Monty Python. Mocking everyone, esp himself…the days when people understood that thoughtful, clever humor is about commiserating around shared foibles/flaws, not about creating victims. II miss my years in NZ 87 & 91, the farmer/sheep conspiracies, the over-confident & Wild West attitudes of ski/raft/jump/ locals, the depression-era culture there(fix things!), and Michelle!
such a shame New Zealand has become woke and pc over the past 6yrs - pleased that John Clarke is not here to see how stupid we have become and how we have lost our sense of humor
I was a Fred Dagg fan before he became Fred Dagg! John Clarke started his comedy career in local TV comedy sitcom called "Buck House" and even then quickly became a household favourite ; his catchphrase was "That'll be the door" whenever someone knocked. oh well, you had to be there, i guess!
I recall hearing from a Kiwi friend of mine that the city-dwellers in New Zealand took this episode of Country Calendar seriously, probably because it was (and still is) usually a serious programme showcasing various farms around the country.
I wonder why there are never any opening or closing credits on these old NZ shows? Were they super-imposed only during the actual broadcast? That might make sense ... they only really seemed to use film over videotape
I only just spotted the "Mount Crawford office" 🤣 For context it was a prison in Wellington City. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prisons_in_New_Zealand#Wellington_Prison
2:34 Tom Lehrer- "He majored in animal husbandry, until they caught him at it one day..."

Pure gold classic 70's NZ humour
Adopt a stray
Eating breakfast and smoking a cigarette at the same time. Funny as F&*K trev
New Zealand Legend. Of course the ozzies steal the proper talent
The original reality show down on the farm real gritty lifestyle
such a shame New Zealand has become woke and pc over the past 6yrs - pleased that John Clarke is not here to see how stupid we have become and how we have lost our sense of humor
that was true about the weather forecast

New Zealand is a small country population wise, so most of us have some knowledge of farming life!
Way better than Monty Python.

by God, may the spirit of Fred Dagg re-assert itself in this culturally lost and confused country
This is the New Zealand I remember...not the one we have today and not that Aotea shit
Fred Dagg is a NZ national treasure and no one can convince me otherwise.
There's not a lot of return on hamsters on the open market
New Zealand, the way we were and should be. A sense of humour
Bring back Fred Dagg and FIX what is wrong with NZ!!
I only just spotted the "Mount Crawford office" 🤣 For context it was a prison in Wellington City. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prisons_in_New_Zealand#Wellington_Prison
Must have been after "Margot the Fitter" & "Cloud of Wayne" as She wasn't dry then her spine.
I miss this era in kiwi comedy and this legend
Things I miss: Fred Dagg, steel shower trays, shower taps and shower curtains, glass milk bottles, and bloody good blokes ❤️ 😭
yep, those steel shower curtains were damn indestructable.
@@racketman2u commas and common sense help.
' The VW Commas engine was very slow. ' But they couldve fit plenty of Trevs if they had the seats removed.
Love this. My hero <3
John Clarke was a funny bugger: there's even a joke in there about a rotary milking set-up and homogenised milk.
It's ingenious. The milk is homogenized before exiting the cow, in fact.
OMG, I remember this when it was first on - just a kid at the time. Pretty funny!
Where are all the Trev's now? Did the smallest one grow up?
Comic Genius. If you can’t laugh at him see a doctor
That’s right farming is a science.
A very unfunny man. John Clarke just thought he was funny.
Yeah, him and a whole lot of other people. Mind you, we're easy to please.
Good ol FRED
Good to see Fred and Trev and Trev and Trev and Trev and Trev and Trev again. The only one missing is Bruce Bayliss.
Milk in glass bottles, loaves of bread and butter bring back a lot memories.
Fred was shaking the milk because of the cream on the top. Remember doing that.
When NZ was NZ, not like all the bollocks n PC rubbish we have today.
"Trevor here, he's the first born, and he's the eldest, as a result of that"! Minister for the bleedin' obvious.... LOVE IT
Come back soon John ( Fred ) !
bloody pathetic
Long live fred dagg
John Clarke .... seriously missed.... especially in this “ rape of the politics session)...
Brilliant comedian and could see clear through any politician and see the truth
