@@mr.butterworth what is it about being French? Apparently you heard the wrong story because their wedding was perfectly fine and it really destroyed Simone when she heard about that. She then learned he cheated so so many times but she never gave up on him. He is not the gentleman he appears to be

Why do people, particularly men have to constantly reduce Marilyn to a sex object? Speaking about her mainly in terms of affairs and her sensuality for God's sake she's a person. Have some respect for the tremendous woman and talent she was. Montand spoke about her in a respectful way at least, well done to him for that. Letterman on the other hand was a jack as always.
Of course Marilyn was sexy and attractive and so was also Montand, but besides that, they both had a similar backround, coming from poor families (Yves Montand's family were italians settled in Marseille, south of France), they were no intellectuals, didn't go to university. Signoret's family was more "bourgeoise", she was politically concerned and was an intellectual (as Miller of course, Monroe's husband in those days). So she probably understood that Montand and Marilyn did have that in common, a similar social backround, something that perhaps did make them closer. (Sorry for my bad english!)
