I have raised rabbits for more than 30 years and changed to Silver Fox 3 years ago. I was shocked at how docile they are. No scratching or being hyper. Coats are beautiful. I started with unrelated trio of black buck and 2 blue does. I did buy a chocolate buck totally unrelated from another breeder. I bought excellent stock all are silvered. I was trying to buy some unrelated stock but no one close enough. Found 1 at 5 hours each way.
Is it normal for silverfox rabbits to have brown or burnt orange in their coats? Both my blues and blacks have a slight burnt orange spots esp when molting. Thanks ahead of time
That’s they only reason why I got my rabbits for compost. They are good poopers! What she does I can’t do. I can’t slaughter and make pelts out of them. They are my indoor pets. Easily get their litter box and dump it in soil or grass everywhere.
Thanks for the informative video! One question for you: have you saved any silver fox pelts from 8 week old grow outs or do you let them mature a bit longer when you are planning to use the pelt? I've read that 4-5-6 months is best for pelts but curious what the lower limit might be for getting a usable pelt (I'm hoping to start a small herd of SFs soon). Thank you!
Thank you! 😊 Silver fox pelts don’t look very attractive until they reach 12-16 weeks old (the old the better). If you truly want to save pelts, I would wait until they are 16 weeks or older at least. My lines don’t start showing silvering until around 8 weeks! For our current growouts I hope to keep their thick winter pelts to tan. They’re always so much prettier in the winter ❤️ Hope this helps! 😊
Hi! I am also a teen and wanna get Into raising rabbits.. do I need a liscense or something to do that? Also do you hv more videos on how to get started 😅
I raise them for breed preservation, meat, and show. I often sell to prospective show buyers. Sometimes I will take juniors available to shows to sell.
Hi Tiffany! I was making a plan for my breeding program and i was wondering if I can breed 1/2 siblings (different moms/same dad) with each other! Cz we are starting with a trio!
It’s not called a fluffle that was a cute nickname that people made up. The more proper term is a “herd” when domesticated or in the wild a colony. (You can have domestic colony set ups)
Rabbits and quail are the easiest way to be self sufficient in meats. With only these 2 quick breeding animals you can eat meat daily and never go to the grocery store to buy meats or eggs. And you get feathers for down for pillows or blankets. And pelts for blankets hats and gloves and all manner of pillows. Not to mention that quail average about 1 egg daily per hen so you can refurbish your flock in one week of eggs and still have plenty of eggs to eat. Their super small footprint makes them idea for anyone even in an appartments

Its sun bleaching, its normal, but I'd work on providing them more shade.
i can usually sell the poop to gardeners to get back at least 1/3 my feed costs
You had me at cold compost.

How much do you charge for a trio of silver fox rabbits
It depends on the quality of the animal 😊

No you don’t need license but you should learn and get educated as much as you can about rabbits before getting some.
I not sure if I told you I subbed u ,love your channel
Thank you so much! ☺️
Do you raise them to sell? My pet rabbit just had 6 bunnies....What are some ideas to place them?

Do NOT get angora if you live in the southern U.S. The don't do heat. Just an FYI
If you had an air conditioned shed they would do great! 😊

How do you kill your rabbits for meat
We do cervical dislocation. It is quick and instant.
why is a group of rabbits called a" fluffle" and a group of hares called a "drove" ?

man know I kinda wanna get some rabbits. I know my dad would love the meat. Definitely gonna have to think about this for the future.
Apsinthos Arts go for it! I love the fact that I am able to raise them for meat and know that they’ve lived a happy life. That makes me happy 😊
