One thing is that I am not be able to really understand the black youth culture because of my nationality and the barrier of language. Second, the 50-year-old-history of hip-hop has had many ups and downs, and by the time I met the culture, many good talents had already passed away; Tupac, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, Eazy-E, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, to name a few. That is, there is no way for the young like me to know the past glory. What I’m trying to say here is that Masta Ace is one of few artists who know the history of hip-hop. I know what is true hip-hop through him. I owe him a lot.

Saw Ace in a small club in Durham, NC years ago. Spent part of the show wondering if Kane would show up for a mini-Juice Crew reunion. Didn't happen. But didn't matter. Ace tore it up! Dope show. And afterwards, he manned the merch table and was the nicest, coolest guy chatting with the fans. Keep doing what you're doing, man. Thirty years on and you're still the Masta....
