I was born in 1990 in Japan. I have been listening to hip-hop since I was 14 years old. These facts mean a lot to me. One thing is that I am not be able to really understand the black youth culture because of my nationality and the barrier of language. Second, the 50-year-old-history of hip-hop has had many ups and downs, and by the time I met the culture, many good talents had already passed away; Tupac, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, Eazy-E, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, to name a few. That is, there is no way for the young like me to know the past glory. What I’m trying to say here is that Masta Ace is one of few artists who know the history of hip-hop. I know what is true hip-hop through him. I owe him a lot.

Masta Ace is one of my favorite MCs ever, his tone, flow, style ... is unparalleled. When you listen to him, you just immediately dive into his reality.. He got this power of immersing you right away in the experiences he is describing. With MP on the MP, this is a perfect combo. I saw Masta once live in Dublin in 2016, one of the best shows I ever witnessed..
People always act lie Ace isn’t anything special i swear. I tell them he directly inspired Eminem and then they hear it. He’s not the most flashy MC but he has consistency and perfectly structured albums and storytelling. He doesn’t need to rhyme 10 syllables words for the sake of rhyming to be great lol.

I was in Leicester UK yesterday at the Masta Ace/Marco Polo concert. I've been to many concerts in my time but this was special. I was right at the front. I'm learning to saying it was the best concert I've ever been to. Always wanted to see Ace but it was better than my dreams. Him and Polo are the living embodiment of hip hop. I hope Ace and Polo see my comment 😊
