Old Rusty Hand Water Pump Restoration (FULL RESTORATION) Elephas pompa dell'acqua manuale

  • Today I want to show you how I fixed my old rusty hand water pump, with a modification.
    This pump is usually mounted on the wall, but since I wanted to put it in the garden I made some changes and with a cast iron stake I created the base stand.
    I made a new cup and lower valve with a piece of leather scrap used by a shoemaker friend.
    I found this pump ten years ago in a farm house in the Italian countryside, they were throwing it away because it was old and no longer working. I'm glad I brought it back to life.
    Hope to inspire you to save old items ;)

    The best instructional video I've ever watched... peaceful even, just listening to you work, and the birds in the distance. Not talking, yet understood entirely. Thank you ✞🕊

    Loved this video! Was against a restoration prior because of the gasket issue. Was presently surprised as this is the same technique we use for our buggy wheels. Leather coils. I’m off to buy a pump we saw yesterday at a flea market. Awesome! Praise Yahweh for He is faithful and just.

Il mio Italiano e arruginito come quella pompa, Ithink I will switch to English Capo!
    I was surprised to see you use the pump to make the cup leather-prcise measurement, but risky(?) if a defect in the barrel. I have made these using two pieces of wood using the same procedure. The pump has evidently been repaired before since it has hex hardware. Most pumps are really rusty and I just replace the bolts and nuts, but with the original 4-sided version. Buona notte e Ciao.

    I’m going to do the same thing to my pump. After removing the rust in the inside did you try to paint the inside too ? Or leave it bare cast iron. I’m not sure what to do

      Hello, I use it for gardening, I left it without paint. However if you use a two-component paint it might be a good idea to paint the inside too. Have a nice restoration 😎👍

      for the color there are many types, but if you buy something professional you don't have to think about it for a long time, mine has been in the garden for more than 4 years in the heat and cold and it is still in excellent condition.

    • @HobbyTimeRestoration
      @HobbyTimeRestoration  9 месяцев назад

      Hello, it's a subjective choice, if it is functional and has no rust inside you can always do a conservative restoration. Mine was very rusty and the bolts were stuck as you can see on the video.
