    It's interesting to consider what this line looks like now compared to 10 to 20 years ago. I remember voicing my support for Southland station when feasibility was being seriously considered. Might take a ride to Parkdale soon to see what the new station is like.

    One thing I love about these suburban electric trains, is their rapid and effortless acceleration. My first experience, one that still sticks with me, was on the first test run of a fully laden train on the Noarlunga (now Seaford) line after its electrification.
    So different from a sluggish diesel railcar.

    • @driver667
      @driver667  6 месяцев назад +2

      Electric trains benefit from not having to generate the power for propulsion (whatever type of propulsion) on board so are lighter and just as, if not more powerful. 👍😀

    Great looking at the line that I worked on initially as a Station Assistant in 1961 and latterly as a Signal Assistant at Seaford through to 1965 after which time went into the Australian Army, and thereafter from 1967 though. Following my military service, I went back to the Victorian Railways as a Station Assistant at Cheltenham, and soon thereafter re-qualified in my Safe Working Certificates, and went out as a Signal Assistant at McKinnon Railway Station in 1968. In the latter part of 1968, I qualified as an Assistant Station Master Class 5 and was posted to Darnum. After an disagreement with Stewie Rae the District Superintendent, I resigned and joined the Regular Army for 10 years and then went on to qualify as a Lawyer. Just one point I would like to raise. Why is there no indication of the station names between Patterson and Cheltenham??? The first indication of the station names after Patterson is *MENTONE!*

    This is so cool. As someone who takes this route most days (as a passenger), thanks for sharing this video so I could see it from a driver's perspective. One question please, if you're allowed to disclose, are you rostered on the same Frankston Werribee/Williamstown route each day and each week as you then become familiar with exactly when to stop and the intricacies of the route? Or do you get rostered on multiple routes?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  6 месяцев назад +1

      I actually drive for vline these days and not Metro any more so my camera went for a ride on this one, but the drivers are rostered over different routes each day after qualifying along each of the routes. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the ride along the line 😀 👍
