ABA player here! Love the video as I think this where Strive can improve with better character weakness. I have a weird perspective since I was a Baiken main and then switched to ABA full-time on her release. I also use a bunch of combo routing, pressure, and tech not represented by a majority of ABA players. A lot of it is manually time stuff that are 50/50s with grab fake outs but I love the increased risk for the way I play ABA. Regarding match-ups here are a few of my most interesting takes. I can't really say when I fought players with similar experiences thanks to Tower. For any reference, I've been celestial several times, currently around lvl 650 with a bunch of 0s ofc. Lastly, I'm nearing 1000 hrs since Baiken release but have been playing the game casually for the most part. ABA losing - ABA winning Against Zoners Axl 6-4 I fought a lot more Axl's thanks to 3.5 changes and onwards. For a while, it was my most common match-up. This helped a lot since when I started ABA the match-up felt like a 9-1. Thanks to a bunch of recurring Axls on floor 10 and celestial, I got used to the match-up. I personally like round start air dash into normal jump heavy slash is surprisingly effective for such a clunky button. Axl's health and damage are the biggest factors in how this match is balanced this way. Testament 6-4 leaning hard to 7-3 This is the first big sign of my weird ABA; recently I started doing dash kara rekka in jealousy mode. I use this catch whiffed button far outside the range you'd believe. In the blink of an eye, the first hit can reach opponents FULL SCREEN. The windows are tight to do that, but similar results can still be achieved. I've whiffed to punish a lot of Johnnys well past mid/farscreen spacing with this. Try it it in training mode! There's obviously counterplay like grab and 6p (not back dash). But learning more unique movements has helped. However, testament naturally makes ABA rewrite her game plan. Testament's 6H hits both ABA's hop and cmd dash. Their 6p walls off a lot of ABA's ariel movement. Testament can easily waste jealousy mode with pressure. And ABA's defense has a lot of indecision against Testamnet. Like whether or not to parry Arbitter Sign. Or how to approach Grave Reaper which walls off normal mode like nothing else. Asuka 6-4 maybe 7-3 but only before season 4 I haven't played practically any Asuka after what they did to him recently. However before I loved how interactive ABA was against him. Like ABA's cmd dash, both heavy slashes and parrying. Depending on what cards or modified wands are in play there were plenty of mind games to go around. Given my own techs 50/50s/grab (yes this is all one otg setup) I had a lot of combo routes that drained his manna. Still though once he got distance and ABA was in normal mode, the game swung hard his way. Happy Chaos 5-5 Oddly enough this nowadays feels like a more balanced version of ABA's match against Asuka. Of course, this felt like a 7-3 initially when I started ABA. However given her unique defense, HC nerfs, there are a lot more ranges where mind games can ensure. Specifically using normal mode hop and dash. ABA being very offensive in jealousy/normal mode defense and HC being very aggressive with a gun but still needing to approach really balances the match. The biggest factor here is HC's newly reduced HP and damage. Before though would obviously be winning for HC. Shoto-liters Sol 4-6 Ky 4-6 TLDR I believe ABA was designed to uniquely on characters that borrow from this archetype. Given how shotos don't have a lot of screen pollution, have perceivable normals (think opposite of Bedman?), and have DPS; ABA defense game plan becomes a whole lot easier. The biggest folly is the option to DP. I know that option has ruined so many players fighting against me. My ABA has 4 different techniques (outside of run-up Danzai) that beat all reversals, are 50/50s, and are grab setups. The most dangerous options are (all in jealousy mode ofc) otg CS into falling heavy slash that can lead to instant jump slash, instant 2k, or falling heavy slash whiff into grab if done slightly early enough all while holding down back to avoid all reversals. The other is otg 2K into rekka whiff first hit into Danzai, or dash and grab, or 2k/2d/2h depending on spacing and if you want to catch back dashing/avoid grabs. Using 2d has a similar frame when the hop hits making it all the more amazing. Normal mode ABA can do similar results with the 2k Otg option depending on spacing and using parry instead of Danzai. The option to DP just gives way to many counter-hit Danzai chances too of course. Leo 5-5 Leo is simply built differently. Then given ABA's speed and careful use of Danzai against spin, there are a lot of ways ABA can steal momentum. However, Anji strikes hard and is tanky. His health and damage balance match up a lot. Hey man I ain’t gonna say leo guardpoint isn’t busted as fuck (it is) but you were kind of telling on yourself with that I-no clip. If you RRC on it you either break the armour of the follow up and get a punish or force him to block and then you can 2K or throw or whatever. I don't really want ArcSys to buff Dizzy into another feature complete character next patch...
Personally I’m fine if they wanna go the direction of just make every character stupid in their own vacuum, however they do need to still give certain characters defined weaknesses that anyone can exploit even losing matchups,Testament is a good example of them buffing him too much by removing weaknesses he had thus making him stupidly good, only reason he doesn’t hit top 5 is because top 5 are the most stupid

As a pot (who hasn’t played recently, so take what I say with a grain), but I like that flick now has the extra range so it matches the sorta “wind” effect. Flick is 19 frames or there abouts, and it reminds me slightly of MHA when deku uses his quirk to flick as a ranged attack. But after seeing the hitboxes for myself, why is the hurtbox so tiny? They made it smaller than season 3 whilst doubling attack range. Smash Melee Marth is blushing with how much disjoint pot has on this move. Speaking of Smash, maybe there should be a sourspot on the tip of the flick, so that the direct flick hurts more than being hit by the wind of it, as well as maybe some hit property changes on the sourspot hit. Just a thunk. (also about the eating glue, paint, and crayons thing, it more to do with like, the idea that because we play a big buff gorilla of a character, we get to play stupid and funny. Since grapplers make people scared, after conditioning takes hold on someone, we usually get to make plays that would be stupid literally in any other situation. By all means, the no mix-up mix-up of just 3 command grabs shouldn’t work. And it usually doesn’t. But when it does… Just think of it as lighthearted roleplay, like in a ttrpg. Just cuz I play Conan the barbarian, doesn’t mean I actually see myself as a enraged buffoon who solves every problem by smacking it really hard.)
@@helidon41384 hurtbox is tiny because it was too easy to disrupt in neutral. Flick was always a neutral/ender tool, but it was getting hit out of it and would take counterhit damage. It's similar to how his 5H needed buffs twice to become a mega disjoint. It's still less janky than xrd Pot flick where it behaved like a bizarre anti cross up anti air on occasion due to the hitbox interactions.
Well how tf should people label themselves then? "I got to floor 10 by learning to throw." Is that impressive? Is that bad? Is that a meme? Is that commentary on the state of the game? I think it can be all of that! Why should u nhilists be telling me or anyone else it has to be just one thing aka "nothing"....like get off ur wooden horse, this is literally the game. What game are you even playing? "The game has no ranking"....meanwhile the community is driven by videos of "top x ranked" players going at it. "The floor system has no value" meanwhile it's literally the only real game mode in the game and everyone plays it competitively. "The game has no value" now u get banned for saying that; u have to lead everyone to the cliffs of misery but u freeze right before the final step as you egg everyone else over it, cause apparently that's the peak of strive's content creation.

But when it does…
Just think of it as lighthearted roleplay, like in a ttrpg.
The Guilty gear subreddit is easily the most cringe fighting game subreddit ive ever seen
True!
I cannot stand Slayer players
can you crouch Slayer players?
@TohoEggbirb I can prone Slayer players
@ damn he's good
Well how tf should people label themselves then?
I'm just kinda done with this game. SF6 is so much uglier in my eyes but way more interesting gameplay wise

You're over exaggerating the effectiveness of guardpoint.
