The same thing happened to my 5 yr daughter at school. Her finger got caught in a chain adn it tore off her tip of her finger with nail etc. I ran her to the ER and her big brown eyes full of tears made it so hard for any emergency workers to clean it , bandage it etc, I took the staff in the hall and told them do not look her in the eye if you can't hold it together, She isn;t going to see any fear from us. I told her she was as brave as "Madeline " in the so named kids' book, She is "bravest of all" . As she got used to missing finger tip we would refer to it as her wonky finger. We would talk about how scars happen because they tell out story. We would show her our scars .Many years later she told me that she thought I rented out space at the ER to take care of her. She is now in her 30's and beautiful and still has her wonky finger. I agree to helping her tell her story. Later she would feel super strong seeing the people she was telling cringe in pain and she was tough.
I’m sorry but she’s the one who actually went through the Traumatic events so for him to be acting as if it’s him and stopping her from talking about it i find that to be selfish as hell and self centered. He wasn’t kidnapped she was. Sure he feels terribly bad but at the end of the day it’s not about him. Respectfully.
Great show Dr John! I’m with you on getting more human connection. As a matter of fact, this year, I decided to have a monthly get together at my home with friends and family. My husband, daughter and myself will host a nice dinner with a small group. Our first dinner is next week with one of my besties and her family. There will be 8 of us total. I’m so excited to enjoy some in person interaction with the people I love and adore! Can’t wait to receive your new book. I will be preordering today! Best wishes to you and your crew!
The first words out of my stepfathers mouth when he found out my sexual abuse continued for years was, “Well, that wasn’t our fault. We were good parents.” John, thank you for showing and having compassion on this sweet girl. It broke and healed my heart a little bit.
John, I hope this travels as for as I think it should... you're an enlightening voice of reason... I subconsciously seek biases, as patterns. I have not felt a more trusting of anyone else I watch on yt for sincere life advice on specific life events. These events are only a point on each of these ppls lives and you help them realize it's common, short, and important.
I think DR John looks awesome in Black! - and I think you rocked the Concert teeshirts. You are right Dr- Powder- you look tough and are amazingly smart. So don't let someone with a basket weaving degree control you.
I think you did a good one on one talk with this woman. I think you told her all the out comes with are boy friend I hope he loves her and understands how open and honest she wants to be because she loves him a lot.
That was my favorite t shirt too! I was ecstatic to see Social D represented on the show! It brought back great memories and reminds me he's about my age, meaning he's been around the block and knows something. Listening to this show reinforces how incredibly knowledgeable Dr. John is - he's fantastic on this show and the Ramsey show. He's by far my favorite person on the Ramsey team. Bring back John's individuality and let him wear what he wants. Wearing a button down doesn't enhance his gifts; his gifts come from inside.
I’d love to see you authentically yourself, John. That’s what makes you great. I hope management sees this. We root for the shirts of your choice.
He wouldn't wear anything he wasn't comfortable with... you just got to get his humor... it matches my sense of humor, so...

I liked the graphic T-shirts!
How the hell hasn't this channel blown up more??
Because not everyone wants to hear the truth
Really valuable information about how kids respond to trauma. Thank you Dr. John!
The best youtuber Dr. Delony😉

I actually dig the t shirts lol

Don’t tell her it’s not painful. If she behaves like it’s painful, treat it and her as if she’s in pain.

I miss the flannels & casual shirts!
The black shirts are 💯 on you Dr. D.
You're done - wear 'em in good health.
dont listen to them Dr John. The Social D t shirt was my fave :-)

James would be the best to consult with on all fashion advice!
Concert / Musician tees were far better setting, and had a uniquely genuine down to earth appearance.
This was a really good episode.
My husbands grandparents met because they each had a part of a finger missing. Kind of a cool story. They celebrated 70 years married in 2020.
I think your shirts don’t have that much affect on how you are viewed… wear what you want. I do see the ease of having a “uniform”
Ummmm… Concert T-shirt’s are the new button down black dress shirt! 🤘🏻❤️😎
It’s funny because the white shirts would make him 100% look like Booth from Bones 😂
Uuiuiiuuiiuuiuuiuuuuuuuuuuujjuuuuiu i de mon vuvuuhuh
Uuiuiiuuiiuuiuuiuuuuuuuuuuujjuuuuiu i de mon vuvuuhuhu
My boss lost the top of his finger in second grade. Now he works in the field of prosthetics
Thank you
Dr. John, you would look dashing in scarlet and navy, and baby blue
I like concert t-shirts.
Shirts are great Batman
Bring back the SOCIAL D shirts!!!
Awesome advive!!
Supervisor didn't like the Social Distortion shirt you wore a while back eh John?
Im a women and I wear a lot of black because it hides my figure mistakes.
When I hear words like “healing journey” I check out… sorry 🙄
Just bribe the kid. It works and she'll remember the treat and forget the finger
I thought the graphic t shirts made you look approachable.
I don’t love the all black shirt. It kind of makes you look like part of the chair.
John, please let your wife dress you, black everyday isn't going to work!
Lol what in the world makes you think his wife wants to dress another adult?
@@tashsme that’s fairly common. Lots of woman dress their spouse. My grandmother dressed my grandfather all the time and he ate the attention up.
@@Dperfater My response was tongue-in-cheek. I think they should do whatever works for them.
