Way to go Pete/ like I’ve stated numerous times on this channel, you are the quintessential interviewer ever. You let the conversation flow. No interrupting the guest. That is a great knack you have. Great job 👍💯
I was very lucky to see Renaissance in summer '77 at the Aladdin Theater (RIP) in Vegas on their Novella tour. My best friend's Dad took us -- an amazing and magical show I'll never forget.
SOT and Pete introduced me to Renaissance a few years ago and I have been a fan ever since. Annie is amazing! So glad to hear from her. She is an absolute classic, such a beautiful voice.
Such a pleasure to see Annie on SoT again. I’ve been a huge fan since hearing ‘A Trip to the Fair’ on FM radio in ‘75. I immediately bought Scheherazade. I only saw them once, in 1982 at a small club in San Diego. Great show.
Omg PEte you are killing me here.Another great interview, and another band to put on my shopping list. After sampling some of their albums, i now have 6 studio and 1 live album to buy.Thank you once again for everything young man, always much appreciated. An idea for a future HVS topic. Do the spouses/partners/Children of the HVS share the same interest in music. If not what are some of their favourites?. Have the HVS crew managed to get the partners to listen to any of the panellists choices and what did they think ? How do they feel about the crew spending a lot of time discussing music....
Pete I loved this episode with Annie Haslam. She is so loveable and sweet.and boy can she tell some tales. And ( if he hasn't all ready) if Martin would be interested in writing an autobiography of her life or even STORIES BY ANNIE HASLAM. By two people who are great at their craft just sayin. Thanks pete
I rarely listen to RUclips videos this long, but Annie has been my favorite female singer since I first heard Renaissance back in 1978. First album I ever heard from them was Song For All Seasons. It is still my second favorite album by them, Turn Of The Cards being my number one! Regardless of the lack of commercial success that band had, they were one of the most unique prog bands in the 70's. If they were more well known, Annie would get her due as one of the all time great singers in rock history. My only disappointment was that there was no mention of where Jon Camp and Terrance Sullivan are now. It would have been great to see them join in on some of the shows. I know Sullivan was involved with the reunion album some years back, but Camp seems to have fallen of the Earth since the early 80's when the band split. He is another musician that I feel would have been mentioned as one of the all time great rock bassists if Renaissance were more well known. Sullivan had a unique kind of laid back jazzy feel to his drumming. All the musicians that have been with the band as Annie stated were great, but us fans always like keeping up with the classic lineups!
Younger fans who discovered Renaissance more recently are lucky in some ways because their nuanced music blooms with high quality sound. I saw them in Los Angeles in the mid '70's & the Greek Theatre's sound was awful in those days; it didn't do Renaissance (or co-billed John-Luc Ponty) any favors that night! Their appearance in a small theatre in the early '80's was much more enjoyable, even though there were only 3 of the classic members by then. I was a fan of the IRS Lp's (especially *Timeline*) as well as the classic '70's stuff. One of my favorite live recordings is the one done at DeLane Lea Studio 1973, which wasn't released until 2015.
Loved Peter Haycock and the Climax Blues Band they took the blues and made it more melodic for the seventies. Have you done an album ranking yet. Probably to niche?
@@seaoftranquilityprog I saw them a few times and thought Peter was a great player and singer I have most on vinyl from back in the day but recently bought the cd box sets for the quality .Often very short albums but there are some great moments . I fear they are a lost band that needs to be resurrected into the public consciousness.
Excellent interview, Pete! And totally different from “The Snake Man’s” recent one as well. 😉 Been a big Annie and Renaissance fan for decades now. I’m currently trying to get off from work, so l can see the last NYC show. I saw the band about 12-15 years ago in Manhattan - when me ol’ mucker Jason Hart was in the band on keyboards - and it was a wonderful evening! Hope l can make it to the gig two weeks from tonight. Fingers crossed!🤞 ~ Davey Cretin, from Cretin Classics.
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I have several Renaissance albums, but I never reach for one when I'm thinking of things to listen to. I will try to make amends, there was a time when I listened to them a lot. It's good to see Annie again.
Some great stories but....Yes, we all age/get old in the physical and numerical sense, but do we have to in the 'attitude' sense? I saw Renaissance in '76 and to a person in the band and audience would have laughed like drains at the thought of going on a cruise/watching several bands from say the 50s going through their greatest hits sets. Am happy to say my attitude keeps me 'young'. A Prog cruise? With all due respects Annie....and cue laughter. But sincere best wishes with the farewell tour.
Kind of harsh to blame Annie or the band about a cruise festival that’s been very successful for many years now which many newer and classic bands have been invited to appear on. Considering how there are few to none prog festivals here in the US, if fans will pay money (and they do) do see dozens of bands on the high seas over a long weekend, then it’s a win win for everyone.

Annie is such a treasure, thanks Pete for getting this interview!

Exactly. Too many interviewers love the sound of their own voice. Pete does it right.
Thank you, Pete, for your excellent interview with, Annie Haslam.
I really enjoyed this.

I think that the album a
song for all seasons was
the first prog album i ever bought, because of the northern lights single.love this band
Great interview. I was listening the live album from the Academy Of Music the other day. That might be my favorite Renaissance live album.
Annie is the best!

I always enjoy listening to Annie but this is another SoT video where for some reason I didn’t get a notification, weird 🇬🇧
