Very satisfying watching you open and enjoy the genuine calipers. Cheap feels cheap, quality feels smooth, feels well finished and works flawlessly 👍👌🇦🇺
Yeah if you're into hobby machining you're better off with legit calipers. Those cheap ones go through a few batteries a year. It's annoying. The cheap ones don't hold zero too swift either. You have to check them every time you use them. The Mitus you just use.
Abssolutely. They are expensive but relatively inexpensive compared to other tooling you will use in your shop. Calipers are used in Every single project I work on. Get the good stuff from the start on this one for sure. No comparison to the cheap ones. My Neikos are at least 2 thou out now but zero out when jaws are closed. I dont trust them for anything that requires precision. I checked them againse gauge blocks.
@@deezworkshop yeah you have to trust your calipers. The Mitus you can trust. In time you'll grow to really appreciate them I'm sure. As the years go by. More than you may now. When you do have to replace the cell get silver oxide. It's worth it. Actually take the trouble to make sure it's silver oxide. Your Mitus are worth it.
I use rotary rasps in a die grinder with wood. The best shape is the conical one. The other shapes look useful but it's rare I ever have a use for one. Rotary rasps make quite a mess but what they can do is amazing. Rasping how you always wanted it to work. Zoom! I use them shaping plane totes or saw handles. I wouldn't use those wire brushes you have in an air die grinder unless they're rated for the RPM. Or you're going to turn yourself into a porcupine.
:-) Those cheap pokers do fling the wires all over the place. I remember working on cleaning up a rusty piece of stock over a year ago now...I literally had those dang things stuck in my belly and arms. lol. I didnt think about it with the die grinders but definitely need to be careful about that. Also thanks for the tip with the rasps with wood. I suppose thats where they would shine. I will look to use them next time im making a handle for something. Got a few projects in the hopper that come to mind. Cheers.
@@deezworkshop a rotary rasp in an air die grinder works like magic for me. Like many tools there's finesse and technique involved. It's dangerous. The number it can do on wood it can do to you. So I wouldn't be palming the work using it. I have lots of wooden screw clamps. They're handy tools. Any die grinding operation can get grabby zippy on you. So I'm a big proponent of work holding with clamps. Better safe than bleeding. For wire wheels in die grinders I like the 1" Twisted Knot Wire End Brush, 1/4" Shank type. But even those are sketchy if you full throttle them freewheel.
So far I have my refund but the reseller didnt mark them as received. I doubt they will do anything but there is alway a possibility they could charge my card again as I did open them. Not a bad idea to contact my CC company and let them shut it down.
@@deezworkshop yeah you were victimized. I'm sure the CC company hears it a million times a day. When you ordered those calipers you thought you were getting the real thing. Then you received counterfeit goods. That's not your fault. You were taken advantage of. I don't even think you had to or even should have sent the goods back. Those calipers are illegal. By rights they should have been seized at the port. There's government agencies that deal with that sort of thing. They take it and whoever is out their shipment and maybe even due in court. Counterfeiting trademarked goods is a serious crime. It's organized racketeering. That's bad.
Well done mate, years of happiness 👍👌🇦🇺

Seems like Travers has a 39% discount on those calipers currently
Yeah, They had the best price I could find and they are an authorized reseller you can find through the Mitutoyo site.
Screw Amazon just call your credit card company. They'll take care of it. Your CC company will shut them right down.
