  • The Bowmanville POW camp also known as Camp 30 was a Canadian-run POW camp for German soldiers during World War II located in the community of Bowmanville, Ontario in Clarington, Ontario, Canada (2020 Lambs Road). In September 2013, the camp was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
The P.O.W Camp 30 is greatly neglected. Buildings are boarded up, doors are blocked by dirt, or are also boarded up. All windows are broken, and interiors of the buildings are badly damaged with graffiti covering the walls, and drywall smashed.

Graffiti can be a beautiful thing, or an ugly thing, in this case, an ugly thing, this was my home from August 1964 to June 1965, and home to a lot of German prisoners of war, the saying was in those days, was you never had it so good, which was an insult, but you knew that was true,it was like a British army base, march everywhere you go, you started at 6:30 march to kitchen, have breakfast then go do your day, the place was amazing, the grounds were manicured better than a golf course, we had sports fields to train, an inside swimming pool, in the winter, Jim Trottier got to stay out by ourselves, and flood the outdoor skating rink, such memories, any you guys still around, get in touch,I have a lot I would like to rehash
