Thank you for this! I finally understand now that there are really so many issues for owning 2 female dogs. I didnt know that before getting them. So I experienced everything you said here. I was frustrated earlier to them because whatever I do they always fight. Even when seperated!! They still growl at each other! Its super frustrating! But, thank you with this video. Atleast now I know Im not alone. I hope I can learn more guide about calming them. Especially after they eat. This is the worst part of my day to day routine. Thank you.
So sorry you experienced the tension! My girls still have tension from time to time but with the bonding time and also each getting their alone time its really helped my two girls. Did yours grow up together or did you get them at an older age? Hopefully you can pinpoint the issue! and glad to help :)
Thank you for this and forward that video. I have a toy poodle mix and I have had her for about a year and a half. I recently rescued a yorkie and we think her age is between 3 to 5 years old. Meanwhile, the poodle mix is about a little over 1.5 years. So far they get along well, even though the Yorkie is on spayed. I hope to get her spayed soon. I am nervous, because of everything I have read about female dogs and how, even after a few years they can suddenly turn against each other. Hopefully everything goes well for us.
Hey great question! It is really all situational and long term things could always change (hormonally, owner life style changes, etc), but in my case my two female got along pretty well when the younger one, Misty, was much younger but as she matured there was definitely changes happening in the pack hierarchy. I have to be constantly vigilant now, that there is peace in the household which for the most part there is. But sometimes (like on our walks where we encounter strange dogs, food times, play times, anything that causes excitement) I have to really pay attention to their body language and correct any unwanted Behavior.. and they are both spayed now but I still see some issues arise from time to time. But it is possible to have 2 females always get along with no issues but again very situational, you have to have two perfect personalities/temperament match.
What do you think about a neutered male dog and a female dog? I have a 6 1/2-year-old male Golden Retriever who has been neutered. He is a very playful, social boy and friendly to other dogs. Thinking of getting a English Cocker Spaniel female 🐶
I'm having a issues at the house right now, I have 2 females mother and daughter, the younger one is on her period right now and she can't even see her mom she only wants to attack..getting her spayed after her cycle hopefully that helps..she's 2 right now and this has never happened before.
Hi sorry for late reply. I think I messaged you on Instagram. It is common for hormone change to cause a change in their dynamic. It can also be a testing the boundaries to see who is the leader of the pack and can happen to come out at around puberty. And with larger breeds they typically mature at around age 2. What could help is to do some supervised bonding activities. Do not let them attack each other and try not to let them bark at each other either, it will aggregate them. Do you know if theres something external that made them fight like a toy, favorite spot, food, or even resource guarding you or their favorite person? If it becomes a huge unsolvable problem you should contact a dog behaviorist since seeing the dogs in person would be much easier to access what could be the issue and if the issue is solvable.
Hi! I actually have a video up on testing Misty's DNA. I was told she was pure Rott but based on her body structure and markings I suspected not. lol And I was correct on my suspicions!
It really depends on the temperament of both doggos. they older one tend to be more chill/mature and younger ones more energetic /buggy can could make your older one annoyed. Just try to match energy and temperaments when picking out your new pup. You can try to ask the breeder to help with matching.
I have two female German Shepherds. You describe them perfectly. Thank you for sharing your experience dealing with your dogs.

Just say that you’re too afraid to break up the dogfight lol
What if your dog is super friendly with other dogs and the other dog you are getting also loves other pets?

We have a 5 year American cocker spaniel female that’s spaded. We want to get a 2 month old female miniature schnauzer. Is that age gap to wide?
