  • A bit of a different video this time, but there are already so many "How To" videos on the CRF engine that I felt the need to do something unique. Let me know if you enjoyed or if I need to post it again without any music.

      Well put my friend! Yeah I honestly feel the same about it. I needed to push my skills and comfort zone just to see what I could do, but I am certainly at home with just being chill with you guys and inviting you along in the series. Now here I go again, this next video will sort of be the opposite of this one in that it will be in depth and a lot more on the “How to/Tips and Tricks” side of things. I feel like carburetors need that kind of video. We will be back to the… shall I say “normal” videos after this one.

    Hey. Need a professionals thoughts. I have a 04 crf450r with hard start issues. Push starts easily but can't get it going by kicking it. Timing is on, valve clearances are in spec, new stator, new carb, new plug and coil. I'm at a loss on what it can be and what to check next. Any thoughts of something I'm missing. Oh yea when I kick it will pop like a backfire. Made me think something timing. Maybe chain is stretched. Idk. Ur thoughts would be soooo appreciated. Sry I'm thinking of things as I watch thru the video. I have a 04 with a decompression valve just like the one u put in thus motor. Could I have a new motor or would that cam and decompression valve work in older motor? And when I line the dot up on crank it lines to the other line on fly wheel then the one u lined up with. Lol alot I know.

    • @jasonblankenagel5412
      @jasonblankenagel5412 3 месяца назад

      On my 04, I had a similar problem when I installed the slide plate on the carburetor upside down. I also has issues when the Hot-start plunger got stuck open. I disabled my hot start and haven't had an issue since. If it's not a carburetor problem, it could likely be worn rings. I don't race, but riding trails I only got 60 hours out of my last set of rings.

    It’s awesome. Truly. A question for you however. When asking for a partnership, like yours with Specbolt, how do you go about doing that? And do you think having this channel help you secure those partnerships?

    • @nwmotogarage
      @nwmotogarage  Год назад +1

      What an excellent question. You need to see it from their side. Think “what can I give them that is of value?” You need to learn how to sell exposure. A great book is “how to win friends and influence people” it’s an old book but a great book. Then, take what you have learned, give them a call and just chat. Share interests, laugh, ask questions, show interest, and of course, show that you care and truly want their business to succeed. To be genuine is a greatly underestimated quality. Hope that helps

    So curious as to why there is one plastic gear inside the case? Seems like someone would revise with a metal part. No???

    • @nwmotogarage
      @nwmotogarage  Год назад

      I could definitely see what you mean, but fortunately, that plastic gear only drives the oil pump, very little rotational force is applied to that gear. Great question, though! As far as I know, just about every manufacture, uses one.

  • @dean754

    Why did you reuse that worn out clutch basket and not clean up the case covers ?

    • @nwmotogarage
      @nwmotogarage  Год назад +2

      That’s a great question! So to answer I need to go back a step. Nw Moto is my Motorsports repair shop and this channel will one day be a sort of Day by Day type and the kind of work we get in. So, with that being said, I put that clutch basket back in but I already have a billet one standing by to make a comparison video with. Most of my customers don’t understand why they can’t get their bike into neutral or why it lurches when shifting to first or their clutch feels so stiff when everything is new. I left it in to make better content in the future. As for the case covers, boy I tried my damndest to get those things clean 😂 even used an aluminum brightener and let it soak but this is as best as I can do without vapor blasting

    • @nwmotogarage
      @nwmotogarage  Год назад

      Is it a CRF? Those are called cam buckets as a general industry term, but each manufacturer might have a different name for them. Go onto RockyMountainATVMC and head to their OEM portion and see if your specific bike has them. Some do, some do not. Depends on your how your valves are actuated.

    • @Kolbyproduced
      @Kolbyproduced Год назад

      @@nwmotogarage thanks for the quick reply, but no not the buckets. The top of your intake valves have a “volcano” shaped top that the shims seems to go inside of, my 2008 crf450r does not have that. I did check all the oem diagrams on the 450r on Rocky Mountain but I don’t see that type of intake.
