People need to get over the whole fear mongering with blades. Most people surprise themselves with how well they hit them, from low to mid handicappers.
I put the Wilson Staff Blades back in my bag (after a 30 year hiatus playing Titleist & Callaway) a few weeks ago and they are just phenomenal…great playing clubs.
So glad to see u back, Lee. I have a set of staff cb and had to go back to the forgiveness stealths because of time off and rustiness. But the wilson cb range is an amazing club
Been fit into many sets of blades and one of the deciding factors has been that the narrower sole works for me. This is something overlooked by a lot of fitters
I know what you mean about bladed short irons and help in the longer ones Lee, I had a set of John Letters TX irons from the early nineties, they gave you help in the 3 through to 6 but became more bladed 7 through to SW, they were just a lovely set and I've never found anything like them since.
have you considered 8,9,pw in Wilson blades and play "8",7,6,5 in dynapower - :), as for the idea of blades having more control - that pretty much has been demystified human and robot testing- only advantage of blades is versatility :) you are hitting the longer irons because it is perfectly teed up, try it from the fw and most of not all players will hit a "chunkier" club closer to the hole
I have the idea too. The problem could be the lofts. Since the CB have about 3 degrees more loft. That's almost 1 iron difference. But for a player with slow swing speed it might work. In other words, players who no longer have a difference in length with the longer irons because the balls no longer rise as high.
Hello Lee, thank you very much for the video. I know you're a Wilson fan. Quick question: I play HCP 5 myself and currently have the Ping I210 Standard Loft Irons with a stiff shaft. I love the irons up to iron 7. From irons 6 and 5 onwards I hardly have any difference in length due to my low clubhead speed (74mph with iron 7). My thought is that I play the Staff CB from the PW - 7 iron and the 6 and 5 irons with the Dynapower forged. Both with a lighter regular shaft. How do you feel about that? Does that make sense? Best regards from Germany.
My only hold on these is that badging. It literally looks unfinished. I've been playing FG Tours all the way back from 2009. I can say if you want an ounce of help, a Forged cavity without crazy hollow-body tech will scratch the itch. But I always wanted one of the FG Tour 100 blades.

Gorgeous irons I play the D9 Forged they are incredible
I know exactly what you mean. The good shots feel so good. The bad shots can hurt your hands and score, but the good ones. Oh my!

You can mix that set Lee. You may be carrying two eight irons with different lofts though but you could probably make it work
You could alway bend the blades to match up better with the higher end of the irons
@@brianmurray4199 that won't work unfortunately
I agree they are just about the most beautiful irons out there. I would love to try an entire round with them to see how they feel.
Good to see you back lee

I've always found that if you have the right shaft and lie, blades are not so hard to hit (and I am not a very low handicap golfer).
