- Happy anniversary to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who was officially named the starting QB for week one of the season on this date nine years ago, August 26, 2012.
Russell, a third-round pick (No. 75 overall), entered camp in a three-way competition for the starting position with Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson, but earned the nod after impressing coaches on and off the field. He is currently the active leader for consecutive starts with 144 consecutive regular season starts dating back to week one of 2012. Full story and photos:

Makes me remember when I got a ticket from the owner of a teriyaki place in Tacoma I would visit often. He asked if I wanted his 2 preseason tickets to the Hawks in 2012, Of course I said yes. That game was preseason week 1 vs the Titans with the first start from Russ, new uniforms and the return of Matt Hasselbeck on the Titans.

What a lucky day that was for the Seahawks when coach Pete Carroll selected this Dynamic amazingly talented young man to play quarterback for the Seahawks. Kind of like the story about Seabiscuit the racehorse. He was "too short" he was "too small" he was "too big"

@@Covert_Smalls hahahaha. Oh man. Nah, I definitely missed on this one. I think his comments and behavior on the way out made me realize the truth behind all the rumors that I had always written off. Hope he bounces back next season though, that was hard to watch. My faith in the Seahawks organization improved a lot with the way they handled this last draft and we’ll see if they can keep making good decisions. Geno’s contract will be interesting.
