I love the honesty. People's needs and priorities change. I also stopped teaching about 4 months ago and it's been great to enjoy stress-free mornings.
So awesome Tina! I’m right there with you, just got hired myself and excited to create some courses about the things I’m most passionate about. Juggling 101 here we come! Good luck on your new adventure, you’re going to crush it!!
YAY! Teacher Michael, I'm so happy to know that you've also started on Outschool. I just may pretend to be 18 so I can sneak into your classes 😅 It's important to keep growing and exploring!
Thanks for this video, Kristina. It was life-changing for me. I'm now teaching for Outschool because of hearing about it from you, and I am absolutely thrilled with what I've already been able to accomplish, and with where I'll be a month or two from now. I cannot thank you enough!
Hello, dear! It's SO wonderful to hear how much you're enjoying Outschool. Let me guess (based on your name here on RUclips)...are you teaching photography? I'd love to hear more! Thank you for sharing your experience! This was too awesome of an opportunity to keep to myself!
@@KristinaGarcia Oh, yeah, I think I need to change my RUclips name! Anyway, yes, along with cupcake decorating, I'm teaching a five-day/1-week DSLR camera camp and as of right now I'm filling two sections of it per week and am thinking I might even be able to fill a third. I have another photography class launching next week. I'm introducing new classes slowly because I put a massive amount of prep work into each one and want each to be really solid before coming out with new ones. Am loving it so far and loving my students.
@@KidPhotographer Gotcha! I love that you want to do an excellent job with what you've got before expanding your repertoire. That shows great integrity! Keep up the awesome work!
Hi there! Love this video so much and I have some questions, if you don’t mind. My fiance is currently working for VIPkid, and she’s trying to get her OutSchool classes booked up but is having some trouble. Do you have any recommendations? I can give you a list of her classes if that helps! Thank you so much for your time :)
Thank you, Tina! Timely for sure! I teach with VIPKid, but after being sick and away for awhile, it’s been hard to get back in the booking race. I was wishing I could teach art or work with kids with special needs, or both. And then, you appeared! I’m going to give it a try, Thank you for your optimism and enthusiasm, and especially your encouragement! I wish you the best in anything you do!
Hey there, Teri! I'm so happy to hear that this video was timely for you! It can be hard to rebound sometimes in VIPKid, that's true. And Outschool sounds like an awesome opportunity for you! Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate you! I wish you all the best, too! Your positive attitude will certainly help! Thanks again, Teri. 😁
Thank you for giving teachers credit as content creators. I been a public and charter school teacher for years and when the Common Core curriculum was being pushed it made some new teachers feel very uncomfortable with teaching...
Oooh, yes! Good teachers work SO hard and deserve way more credit than they receive. I know that the Common Core is very controversial. It's awesome on a platform like Outschool to have more creative liberty, for sure! Are you considering teaching online/already doing it?
@@KristinaGarcia I have a group of 31 TK students I am presently teaching them online because of the pandemic, but what I learnt is with the extra content I been giving them online some of them are getting more work done than did in our classroom.
Oh, you've got that right--it was a tough decision to be so vocal about a huge shift like this...but I try to be transparent because I know that it helps other people! Thanks for saying that I'm your go-to person. That means a lot, Lindsey!
Hi Kristina! I would love to hear more about this new company once you start teaching for for them for a while, I love that you always give us the good, the bad, and the ugly. Looking forward to hear your unique perspective about the company and perhaps how it compares to VIP kid.
Hey, @broadwaygenius! Thanks for being here! I'm excited to continue to share my experiences. I know how scary it can be to try new things, so I look forward to sharing! I appreciate your comments!
I have watched your other videos and got sent here... You are very articulate, honest and good natured. I wish you and your family the best in your transition and keep making videos. People will watch. Teachers and Instructors from around the world share one key trait.. A passion for sharing knowledge... Stay safe everyone
Hi, Paulo! What a kind comment. Thank you very much for your support! I plan to continue to create content to help teachers! I agree with what you said about teachers having a passion for sharing knowledge. Now more than ever that feels especially important! Take care and thank you again for your presence, Paulo!
Thank you so much for your transparency. I've always kept Outschool in the back of my mind. I'm still going full force with VIPKid for now, but I look forward to following your journey! 🍎🧡
Hey, Caroline! Absolutely. It can be scary to try something new but it's easier to take that step if someone else is paving the way, so I wanted to share! Best wishes with VIPKid!!! And thank you so much for your support! 😊
This video popped up at exactly the right time in my life. I just retired from teaching and was looking at VIP kids, but so happy to know that there is something out there that may be better suited for me, especially after this last year of teaching online. Thank you for your honesty and also…you are adorable!
Hey, Nina! There are lots of great options for teaching online. It's remarkable! Outschool is awesome because it's super flexible. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to bounce ideas off of me: Teacher TinaVIPKID@gmail.com (yes, I use this email address for Outschool, too!) Aw, shucks...😊thanks!
Wow! This sounds amazing! I got hired with VIP KID in March right when COVID happened and haven't opened any classes yet because I became a homeschool mom to my own three kids. I also work from home as a caterer/baker. I actually taught culinary arts for 10 years and this sounds like something I could continue doing on the Outschool platform! I am excited to learn more. Thanks for sharing!!
Hey there, Lauren! What interesting timing...ha! You are a busy lady but it sounds like you enjoy teaching so perhaps Outschool would be a great way for you to add to the organized chaos that I imagine is your life 😅. Thank YOU for being here! Baking is an awesome thing to teach on Outschool!
I totally understand you! I enjoy VIPKid, but after a year, definitely wanted to branch out. Unfortunately I cannot do Outschool, because I live in Asia, and they only allow teachers to live in certain countries. I am excited to hear about your journey with them though! I am looking into teaching online independently. Love your videos, you helped me out a lot when I started out with VIPKid! Good luck :)
Hey there! It sounds like a lot of people are resonating with wanting to branch out. It's so cool that you are hoping to teach independently! The world is your oyster since the internet makes such cool things possible. Thank you for sharing...I'm happy to know that my videos have been helpful to you! Best wishes in your endeavors!
This sounds super interesting! I'm having a slow start with VIPKID, and, while I know that's totally normal and I'm not giving up, I definitely want to look into this as something to do in addition to VIPKID. It seems fun (and scary) completely choosing your own course! Can't wait to hear more about your journey with Outschool as you continue on!
Hey, Bri! 😁 It's normal to have a slow start with VIPKid, you're right...and this could be a great option to add into the mix! Thank you for being here--I love seeing more of you! I'll keep sharing about my journey so that it helps other potential Outschool teachers like you!
Yes mornings are so very precious!Thank you so much for all of your videos they were so helpful to me when I started VIP kid. Best wishes. God bless you.
Hi, Neeta! Yes--there's nothing like the promise of a fresh morning! I'm grateful that you shared with me that my videos have been helpful to you. I plan to continue making videos--just generalizing most of them to online teaching/offering insight about Outschool!
Kristina, thank you I'm so happy you made this video. I am experiencing a little a burn-out after 3 and half years. I love VIPKID and will always be so grateful to this company but I do need to get back to my first love which is teaching art. I have actually started my own platform for art teachers that will launch soon but I will also let my peers know about this opportunity. Good Luck to you!!! I have always sent my referrals to this channel for guidance.
Thank you! I joined VIPKID in October, and enjoy my classes, but I am on the west coast and the mornings (nights) have been BRUTAL. It really has affected my energy for my other activies. This might be a better fit for me, and where I live.
Hey there, Heidi! Oh, I hear you! I don't know how so many west coasters do it for so long. I hope you check out other opportunities like Outschool where you can use your skills!
I am now in my fifth contract with VIP kid and I must tell you you have always been one of my favorites and was one of the primary teachers to help me when I started. Very happy for you and wish you the best. I will definitely at least look into this and see where it might open up some doors. Thank you for your honesty and be happy!
Hey there, Jennifer! It's awesome to hear from you--thank you so much for your confidence in me and for your well-wishes! I hope that when you check it out, you get a good sense of whether it's a great opportunity for you. Take care, Jennifer!!
Hi..thanks for sharing. Checked out Outschool..they passed on me. But prior to that I was hired by another company thats keeping me busy plus I teach adults n kids. The lessons vary widely and the platform is head n shoulders beyond vipkid's. I havent had a class booked since March at vipkid. All Ive gotten are tons of useless emails and crickets chirping on my booking schedule. Good luck at outschool and happy trails to all out there navigating the online teaching world. Aloha
So excited for you! I am on the path to burnout for the same reasons and have been considering other platforms. I am going to check out Outschool and see if that would be a good fit. I'm not completely ready to cut all ties with VIPKid, but it may be a good time to open up more doors before I find myself completely over it. Congrats to you! Change is good :)
Hey, Katie!! I feel like I came to that same point--suspecting burnout and wanting to branch out before I get there! Thank you for your support. I'll make videos to share about my journey so it's less daunting for newbies!
Wow! This seems like a more practical way of teaching Online. I always thought some of these other platforms were restrictive, especially coming from a teaching background. Especially with remote learning, this sounds right up my alley. Will totally use your link too!👍🏻
Hey, Heather! I didn't realize how restrictive some companies were until I discovered Outschool. I couldn't believe the flexibility! And thank you so much for using my link...I appreciate you, Heather!
I’m excited about outschool. Got my classes listed and it’s pretty cool how your creative juices get flowing when you’re given a chance to create classes your way. I could relate to everything you said. Vipkid has been good to me. I love the company but man the hours. They have introduced me to a whole world of online teaching. I will continue to support vipkid because the company gave me the skills and knowledge. It’s just time for this bird to fly and grow her business.
You fly, Ms. Sparrow! 😅 It sounds like we are on the same page. What classes will you be teaching? And yes, I am forever grateful for VIPKid since it is how I came to love online teaching!
Kristina Garcia I am teaching a poetry class on Tupac Shakur and I’m going to do a lesson on the horse’s hoof. I have so many ideas. My masters is in literacy so I can go so many routes with this.
Thank you Tina! Not just for your honesty but also the willingness to help other teachers! Your videos helped me a great deal during the hiring process of VIPKid! I still haven’t gotten any bookings yet. But I understand it takes time and I guess I will need to work on building my clientele. I’ve just been procrastinating on doing so. Perhaps it’s the hours and I Also have a one year old who wakes up in the night often ( pardon the tmi😂) but Thanks for this information, am also gonna check out outschool. God bless :)
Hello from one Tina to another!! 😁 I hope that you can get the ball rolling with VIPKid...and it's great to know that there are other awesome options like Outschool, too! By the way, I encourage you to check out our VIPKid Christian Fellowship Community!! facebook.com/groups/VIPKidChristianFellowship/
Best wishes to you, Kristina! I have reminded my husband and myself that, while marriage is a binding covenant, our jobs are NOT! Change is something we often avoid, but God really uses it. Enjoy this next phase of your life. Blessings and JOY!
Hey, Julie! Thanks so much for your support. That's so true! For almost three years I felt guilty about even considering branching out. But it's time to explore! You rock, Julie!
I'm looking at the Outschool website right now. It sounds intriguing, but at the moment, I'm trying to think about what 'my are of expertise' might be! Can I find a list of topics that OTHERS are teaching so something might resonate with me (or spur me to think of my own "original" idea)?
Hi Tina, I'm a brand new online teacher Watching all videos I can. Would love to hear more. This seems like a more practical way to teach. I've been teaching in front of the class for about 26 - 30 years, but now is the best time for me to start a new path....teaching from home. I will definitely join you with Outschool
Hey there, Melinda! Wow--I'm excited for you to convert that traditional classroom experience into online classroom experience!! I'm happy for you! Thanks for being here, Melinda 😊
I stopped working for them about 4 months ago after 4 years of working for them, and I’m so thankful for letting go of the stress of working for them! Great video!
I see you the best teacher from Vip Ma'am, i admire your skills, hope it will rain down over me that skills. :) i'm about to have training from a certain company for online English teachers here in Philippines, and i kept watching your videos for many many times just for me to not forget your advices and tips. ❤️🙏🏼
Glad I 'happened' onto this video. I had started the process about a year ago for VIPKid, but there was too much going on at that time with family and school that I opted not to "get up early" and teach before going in to work. I have been looking for other opportunities to teach outside of a brick and mortar setting so this is worth the investigation. I have started the process through your link and will more deeply into it over the coming weeks. Thanks for sharing this opportunity!
Hey there, Brenda! Sometimes it's not the right time...sometimes, it's not the right opportunity! I'm happy that you found my video and that it was helpful to you. Thank you for using my link and I wish you all the best as you get started!
sounds interesting. I currently teach with Vipkid (since a year now) can you make another video once you start teaching with this new company? I hear ya about vipkid teaching the same lessons over and over. sometimes I teach the same thing three four times a day lol. I am grateful but vipkid needs to change things a bit.
I plan to keep sharing about my experience with Outschool, yes! I agree--things can get repetitive in VIPKid! Do you have a variety of certifications? Sometimes having a variety of certifications means getting a variety of levels...sometimes not!
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. It can take time to build your business with VIPKid so sometimes the first times you get aren't your favorites. Are you still an online teacher in some capacity, Joslyn?
hi teacher tina i watching all your video , and yes thats what i feel after more than 11 years teaching under the school curriculum i know how you feel , i just apply to outclass now because im from indonesia i think i need help for apply it , but i hope i can join with team to teach with my own curriculum and style and help children to understand more in their golden ages. thank you so much for this inspairing video , may god bless you
Hello, Delta! Thanks so much for your kind comment and for being here! May God bless you in your new online teaching endeavors. It sounds like you are passionate and that is so important for a teacher!
Glad I came across your video. I was debating between VIPKid or Outschool and I think I’m going to go with Outschool. I’m not much of a morning person and also live on the east coast of the US. I love teaching preschool art so hoping to do that on Outschool.
Thanks so much Kristina! You are one of my favorite presenters! Please ignore my goofy picture...I had a RUclips channel for about a minute several years ago. I'm not sure how to become "me" again. Anyway, I've taught with VIPKid for the past year and half but I am getting burned out. I'm exhausted all the time because of the schedule. And now, the bookings have slowed way down. I am seriously looking at Outschool. I was kept awake last night very late watching youtube videos...yours and others....about Outschool. I appreciate your honesty about both platforms. Thanks again!
Hey there, Mimi! Yes, I recognize you from commenting on my channel before. You are always so kind! Feel free to reach out if you'd like my help with Outschool: TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. There's no need to feel exhausted! I hope to hear from you soon. 😁
Hi, Missy! Congratulations on getting hired with VIPKid...I hope that you enjoy it! I'm sorry that Outschool won't be a good fit for you. Do you mind me asking where you are living?
I’m only 3 minutes into your video but your morning routine comment really resonates with me. I use to have an early schedule doing what I wanted and now none of that gets done until after 9 if at all. I miss my mornings
Aw...yes! Mornings can really set my day off on a great (or not-so-great) path! I hope you can find a way to enjoy your mornings again, Melissa. Thanks for being here!
Just in time! I saw an ad for Outschool on social media a couple of days ago and was just wondering about. I’ll definitely check it out! I have suggested VIPKID branches out to teaching other languages and in other countries; I would love to teach Spanish in the afternoon, for a change. Best of luck and many blessings!
Hooray--how serendipitous! When I was at VIPKid's home office in Beijing a group of us was talking about how awesome it would be for VIPKid to branch out to other countries. I imagine that will continue to happen (VIPKid has some students in Korea) but it's very complicated when you think about translating the curriculum, hiring support staff in each country, etc. The world of online education is growing so fast, though---it's just a matter of finding what works for you!
Kristina Garcia Absolutely! It’s not an easy task to translate all the material into different languages, plus the support staff issue. I’m sure the future looks more like Outschool than VIPKID. I’m planning on still teaching on VIPKID, but most likely cutting back. Many blessings!
I passed my mock classes and submitted my profile over a month ago and it’s still under review :( I’m doubting they’re even going to get to me at this point. I’ve already reached out a couple times about it
I'm sorry to hear that, Jessica! Have you tried contacting support via the teacher portal? Log on during "business hours" in Beijing--click on the headset button and inquire about your status!
Kristina Garcia thank you! I’ll try that. I also signed up for out class- I wouldn’t teach ESL, just music and makeup so I don’t feel like I’m cheating on VIPKid if I’m able to do that too lol
I have added Outschool as well. I have not started classes yet, but have passed and I am approved. My husband has signed up as well with Outschool and will be teaching about Band and Music. Best wishes on your new venture!
@@KristinaGarcia I am a special education teacher. I want to see if I can help with the students who may need that extra... I also love traveling, so I want to teach about that and maybe math and maps. My husband is a Paraprofessional, but loves band and music. He is so smart with band and music, he just didn't get his degree. I am hopeful he will like this opportunity and get some confidence in it.
I just finished my interview process and JUST saw the change. I didn’t sign yet because the application isn’t finalized yet. Doesn’t seem worth it now. 😢
@@keishaangelique5110 the payment structure has been this way for new teachers since the end of December 2019. The change just affects veteran teachers (they keep their base pay--just the incentives will match newer teachers now.)
I'm sorry about the incentive structure change. I know that it's a bummer for a lot of teachers who don't teach a lot of classes. Let me know if you're interested in Outschool! There are lots of cool options for teaching online!
Good for you, Kristina! Also very timely for me. I have a friend who tutors international home-schooled kids math. She works through a friend who has an online counseling business for bright "twice exceptional" students. She suggested that I develop some hands-on science classes, so I have been working on that. She now tutors a student in Bahrain. The pay is 10 times (!) VIPKid, but you do develop your own curriculum. You can PM me if you'd like to know more. But, I also will look into Outschool. Sounds like a similar set-up to what I am doing. Thanks for sharing your exciting news. I take it that you are still taking referrals for VIPKid that I could send your way?
Hey, Scott! Thank you so much! It's really amazing when you look around and see what else is out there. I had VIPKid blinders on for years and I'm so grateful for VIPKid, but it's time to branch out. Please send me an email, Scott! TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. And yes, I'm still helping referrals get hired with VIPKid. My new VIPKid referral link is bit.ly/ApplytoVIPKID or my old code is KRIST0230 (for folks who have already applied.) 😁 I hope to hear from you soon!
YAY Tina! Miss you! I have been teaching full-time K-3 Spanish at public elementary since September so this sounds like a perfect opportunity for me to use my curriculum over summer break! I will definitely use your referral link and may reach out to you via email with some more questions. Muchas gracias!!!
Hey, Saron! Long time, no chat!! It's great to hear from you. Thanks for choosing to use my referral link, too. Since you already have content for teaching Spanish, this seems like a great transition for you!!! Sounds good!
Hmm, thank you Kristina! I also worked with VIPKID and I miss the children, most of all. I work as a collaborative/special education teacher at a brick and mortar so during this pandemic I think going virtual wasn’t quite as much of shock to my system as many of my colleagues. Now we are about to switch over to 5 days/week but I’m going to miss that virtual piece. lol. I think I’ll check out that Outschool. Thanks so much!
Hey, Lynda! Wow--what an interesting school year you've had! I'm prayng for your health and safety as you return to five days/week in person. Have fun checking out Outschool and feel free to reach out with any questions! TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com
Very interesting! I’m glad you’re feeling happier! I’ve just started with Outschool! I’m sure you’re loving being able to work normal day hours and creating your own lessons! I do enjoy VIPKid, but the curriculum- I agree can be a bit redundant at times haha!
@@KristinaGarcia Hey! Of course! I am always happy to support awesome people and teachers. I also love that there is a multitude of possibilities! How wonderful is that? I am trying to figure out where to start, because I have so many ideas and interests, like Disney and princesses, superheroes, mythological creatures, Greek myths, Harry Potter, and so many more haha!
I just found your channel and am starting with VIP Kid for extra income. Thank you for all of your great advice, and know that all of your work is great for ALL kinds of teaching! I don't see doing this for more than a year because exactly of what you are saying. They should hire you to keep the curriculum fresh! Their loss.
Hey, Samantha! I'm so happy to know that you've found the videos to be helpful! Thank you for your kind comment. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions as you start with VIPKid! My email address is TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. 😄
Hi Kristina. I worked for VIPKid as well. I saw this video over 3 years ago when you first posted it. Are you still working for Outschool or something different? And how are things working out for you? I have a degree in Elementary Education but have worked in Real Estate for years. I'm looking for something different because my husband is now retired and we like to travel a lot. I'm just looking for new options and you sound very knowledgeable about online teaching.😊
I've been thinking about this for over a year....kind of hovering over the "blast off" button. I am a retired B & M teacher and the flexibility of teaching at home has extended my opportunity to continue to invest myself in others. I think the "hold up" is the process of creating curriculum of my own because though I use the technology very successfully with VIPKID(which was a great learning experience for me) it is a terrifying thought and overwhelming to think of copyright, new platform, etc. Wondering if you(or if not, someone you can recommend) offer any coaching or instructional platforms. I've even got what I think may be some great ideas for classes, started writing publishers for permission(which was difficult with Covid) but just need a little help taking the plunge. Can't wait to hear back and discover if it is finally the right timing for me. Thanks!
Hey, Deborah! Oh, I can so relate to what you're saying! If you've not yet created an account with Outschool, feel free to use my referral link and I'll be happy to assist you! bit.ly/ApplyToOutschool You can also reach out to me at TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com 😊
I have been with VIPKID for two yrs now and just signed my 5th contract. I have been thinking about out school, but have been scared to make that jump. I will definitely use you as a referral when the time comes. I am very interested in teaching cake/ cookie decorating. I really enjoy your videos and I'm looking forward to seeing your videos about Out School.
Hey, Dandy! Wow--you're a VIPKid dinosaur like me! 😅 I appreciate that you plan to use my link...thank you! I plan to continue sharing my journey so that it helps other new teachers!
@@Nicole-ss8jj Yes, you create the curriculum...but it really doesn't need to be anything cumbersome! Some teachers, for example, simply do a "show and tell" class with pets!
Hey there, Allyce! I plan to continue to create content for Outschool. Thank you for your support! The online teaching community is awesome! I'd love to hear what your story has been like, Allyce!
Great info from one. teacher to another. Yes I found this video more so than others to be 💯 useful chalked with value is information that speaks volumes for those of us looking to make the change or who have already done so. Thanks! Much continued success! Yay! ❤️
You are so kind, Charlene! Thank you for your support. When I create videos I work hard to make them worthwhile, so I appreciate your feedback. Are you thinking about teaching with Outschool?
hi there! i am just about to do a demo with VIPKID, i really need to get some work going if you have any pointers i would really appreciate it! i have thought with DADA so i understand what u mean with always the same curriculum its gets boring after a while! however for now i would like to start off with vipkid, however i did click on the link for this new company you have started with, cause it definitely sound so much more fun, i would like to give it a try with them too! anyways thank you so much for being giving in sharing your experience of what u learned liked and didn't! Everyone is different some ppl dont like change others do, so ur honest explanation is much appreciated! Thank you for sharing the link of the new company! Thank you!
Hey there, Sapna! Good luck on your VIPKid demo! Are you doing the smart demo? Be sure to follow the directions, have your setup ready, and practice before you submit it! Let me know if you have questions about VIPKid or Outschool: TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. I appreciate your kind comment! Best wishes as you expand your online teaching horizons, Sapna!
Hey there! The hours are flexible. Most of the students are in the US and many are homeschooled and have flexible schedules. I primarily teach in the afternoon (Eastern time) but I could do mornings or evenings!
Hey there, Emily! I'm not sure if you're interested in Outschool but currently, you would have to reside in one of these countries in order to be eligible for Outschool (even though you're a US resident): US, Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand. Were you asking about something else?
You totally convinced me to apply and branch out from VIPKID, but....I was denied! I was surprised considering how simpel it was for me to begin at VIPKID some three odd years ago. I am super bummed but thank you for your motivation either way!
Hey, Serenity! Interesting! Feel free to email me (TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com) if you want to discuss your Outschool application. Sometimes the issue is as simple as redoing your video!
Do you have to LIVE in those countries you said or just be a CITIZEN or RESIDENT of those countries. The website says this: "Teachers must be citizens of or resident in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or United Kingdom." Cuz I'm a US citizen, but I'm a resident of Ireland.
Hey, Michelle! For VIPKid, you just have to have legal eligibility to work in the US or Canada (so it sounds like you're fine.) As for Outschool, I suppose it may depend on whether you live in Northern Ireland (part of the UK) or the Republic of Ireland. I suggest reaching out to the hiring team to check! Support@outschool.com.
@@KristinaGarcia Yeah, I already work with VIPKid. Northern Ireland is UK so thatd be fine, but I live in Ireland Ireland hahaha...so I guess I'll email them and see. It'd be weird if they didn't include Ireland, yet included New Zealand. Thanks for reaching out. :)
Tina, I'm so glad you shared more info about Outschool. I've been hearing about it for the past month, but I didn't know the details about choosing your price and all the options for classes. Sounds very appealing! Can you teach Spanish there?
Hey there, Nikki! Oh, great! I'm so happy to hear that this video was helpful to you. I couldn't believe all of the flexibility with Outschool. It's really amazing! And yes, Spanish is a very popular topic!!
These days the world is small and teachers live and travel all over the world, I enjoy that flexibility of moving around and living where my husbands job takes him. Is Outschool flexible in that sense? Can I be a Canadian teacher living outside of Canada and teaching for Outschool? What should I know before applying? Thanks in advance..
Hey there, Lisa! I agree--it's so cool how online teaching opens up amazing opportunities for folks like you! Whether you can pass the background check for Outschool depends on which country you're living in when you undergo the background check. In order to get hired with Outschool, you must currently live in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, or Australia.
@@KristinaGarcia I'm planning my video presentation of my curriculum for my application.. I designed a studio classroom. So I have not applied as of yet.😂
I checked the website and it looks like the top end is 40.00 an hour as it says up to 40 an hour and then take away 30% , I could be wrong though maybe that is after the 30% is taken.
Teachers can charge whatever they'd like. 😊 I know teachers who are making $70+/hr based on what they are charging and the number of students who sign up. Where did you see that number?
I’m heavily considering. I am currently enrolled in university and have one year left till graduation. I am getting certified k-12 in Spanish. I have fears about in person teaching. So, I’m considering online teaching. I am a big animal lover and I want to be home for my animal friends. I also want the level of flexibility you have. The main thing scaring me is how the taxes work...I’m so conflicted
Thanks Tina for the useful info. Which TESOL you would recommend for teachers? Should it be accredited? Are there special tesol for teachers with over 20 years of experience and others for fresh graduates? What are the best well- paid teaching websites for non-native English teachers? May you rank them! Really appreciate your kind support!
Hi, Donald! Thank you for watching it! It can be challenging to share a big change like this, but I believe that our transparency helps to empower others!
Hey, Kasie! I agree...it suited me well for a long time and I will likely still teach with VIPKid a little bit (as long as the internet is ok.) The hours just stopped working for me!
I hope it goes well! Please make new videos to update us on how it’s going. My biggest frustration with VIPKID now is that even if I have to cancel classes and get soft cancellations, my bookings are often dramatically affected for the next 30 days, until my stats clear. I never had this problem until stats started being visible to parents. I have a chronic illness so I have to miss once in a while and then I suffer financially.
Justine Kulp Thank you for sharing that. It’s good to know that parents can see stats. I’m sorry for your condition and hope that things go well for you!
Hey, Justine! That's a great point. I wish that soft cancellations didn't affect your attendance rate which is visible to parents. I discussed cancellations in Outschool with a fellow Outschool teacher and she said that the teachers have a lot of freedom--if you need to cancel, you essentially can just reach out to parents who have registered for your class and refund them/ask if they can do another time instead. It's amazing! I just paused to pray for you that you would feel peace about whatever's up next for you, Justine!
Hello, Ayesha! According to the most updated information on Outschool's website, Outschool teachers must "reside full-time in any of the 50 United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, or Wales (note that other UK countries do not apply at this time)" So it sounds like Outschool may not be suitable for you. Have you considered freelance teaching?
@@KristinaGarcia I have no idea about freelance teaching . From where I can start. I only heard about editing, logo design, web design etc work on freelance. But never Heard of teaching
Hi, Taylor! It depends on a few factors but many teachers start at about $15/hour with VIPKid. How easy/hard it is to get started on Outschool depends on so many factors, like what you intend to teach, how many class time options you have, etc. Many people I know have started with both companies recently and have had a steadier start with Outschool!
Yes! Any curriculum gets boring if you repeat it over and over. Being busy with VIPKID has done that to me, L5 and up save me because I have kids I can extend and extend with...
Hey, Jason! It's great to hear from you! Yes...it's great that you can extend with your older students in VIPKid but sometimes we desire something even fresher!
Hi Kristina I am a special education teacher in California and teach 2/3rd grade students with learning disabilities. I specialize in teaching reading and math, I would (of course) like to make extra money. I was hired for Vip Kid a while back but the time didn't allow me to teach. Would Outreach be a better opportunity? Just curious of your thoughts
Hey, Lisa! It sounds like Outschool may be a great fit for you! Since the students are in the US, I think you'll find the teaching times to be more agreeable. 😁 Feel free to reach out with any questions! TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com (I use this one for Outschool, too!)

Hi there! Thanks for being here! I'm starting by teaching career readiness like interviewing and public speaking. In the future, I also hope to teach dance and Spanish!
Are you going to do videos on teaching through Outschool? I'm interested in learning about the platform through your channel, since the website only gives us so much information. Maybe tell us about the Outschool hiring process?
Hey, Professor Ben! Ask and ye shall receive! I just posted a video that answers your question: bit.ly/VIPKidOutschool I talk about the hiring process at the end. I plan to keep the Outschool-specific videos coming since folks like you would benefit from them! Thanks for being here.
Hey there, Charissa! You're welcome--thank you for being here and for your kind comment, too! Since Outschool is based in the US and they primarily advertise in the US, most of the students will take classes during the morning/afternoon/evening in the US. Of course, it's a little tricky to predict how class time preferences may change once the school year starts (and however that may look!). I'll be happy to share a chart that Outschool provides that is color-coded with the most popular times (it updates constantly!). If interested, email me at TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com and please remind me about this conversation. 😅
Good luck on your new adventures. The nice thing about VIPKID is the flexibility. You can just teach a few classes a week and keep your contract. I’m interested to hear about your adventure. Personally I don’t want to come up with a curriculum right now but I’m curious to hear about how it’s going for you.
Hey, Kelly! Thank you! I wasn't interested in creating my own curriculum until I took that time to really step back and reevaluate. The cool part is that it's whatever YOU choose to make it...as detailed/intense or relaxed as you desire. I'll plan on sharing my experiences! Thanks again for being here, Kelly!
I have the same feelings about VIPKID....and after 6 1/2 contracts...I'm done...I may teach a few favorites here and there. I'm actually in real estate school right now. My 5 year old daughter has taken several Outschool classes and we love it!! Hopefully, she will be able to attend one of your classes! :)
Hey, Muriel! Wow, you're a VIPKid dinosaur like me! I'm so grateful to VIPKid for opening my mind to the possibilities of online education. What classes has your daughter taken? How old is she, and what would she like to learn? This is exciting!! Thanks for being here. 😁
I’ve heard about it a few months back but was worried about creating my own lessons. It seemed a bit daunting as of yet until I feel more comfortable creating my own lessons. But it’s always been in the back of my mind.
Hey, Michelle! I've been hearing your concern a lot. Note that on Outschool, you are free to offer simple, one-time lessons if you'd like! You can also do something with minimal prep work, like hosting a "show and tell" hour. There's a ton of freedom!
@@Mrsnecess I hear you! Those early mornings can be stressful. I love that with Outschool, you are in control of your schedule and you can choose afternoons or evenings!
That's awesome, Clarissa! And yes, you're right. Many VIPKid teachers are discovering that Outschool is an awesome option! What do you plan to teach on Outschool? Thanks for being here, Clarissa!
@@KristinaGarcia I got rejected so I need to study and reapply. I guess I did to much of the VK teacher style so I need to go more natural. I don't think I taught a skill very well. I wanted to do a music camp for littles. I have a whole bunch of moving songs. I also wanted to do nature journaling.
Sorry to be blunt, but there's a reason. I used to be a job developer/job coach. You might want to review your videos while thinking like someone who does the hiring. You might see something when looking at your work from a different perspective. Really pretend, and try to be objective. You can also contact the company and ask them why they aren't hiring you. It's scary to do. You might be scared of what they might say, but it's an investment in every job you'll ever want or get! You might not hear back, but if they are kind and can make the time, it will be worth it. Best wishes and best of luck!
I love the honesty. People's needs and priorities change. I also stopped teaching about 4 months ago and it's been great to enjoy stress-free mornings.
Thank you for your kind support, Sarah! What have you been doing as you enjoy your stress-free mornings?

This video popped up at exactly the right time in my life. I just retired from teaching and was looking at VIP kids, but so happy to know that there is something out there that may be better suited for me, especially after this last year of teaching online.
Thank you for your honesty and also…you are adorable!

I totally understand you! I enjoy VIPKid, but after a year, definitely wanted to branch out. Unfortunately I cannot do Outschool, because I live in Asia, and they only allow teachers to live in certain countries. I am excited to hear about your journey with them though! Glad I 'happened' onto this video. I had started the process about a year ago for VIPKid, but there was too much going on at that time with family and school that I opted not to "get up early" and teach before going in to work.

Am really interested but i reside UAE
Am happy for you tina😁

Please send me an email, Scott! TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. And yes, I'm still helping referrals get hired with VIPKid.

I just found your channel and am starting with VIP Kid for extra income. Thank you for all of your great advice, and know that all of your work is great for ALL kinds of teaching! I don't see doing this for more than a year because exactly of what you are saying. They should hire you to keep the curriculum fresh! Their loss.

I was looking into out school too do you need to create your own curriculum ?
Nicole Rosenberg Wow! Have you changed your mind about teaching? I hope all is well.
@@Nicole-ss8jj Yes, you create the curriculum...but it really doesn't need to be anything cumbersome! Some teachers, for example, simply do a "show and tell" class with pets!
I miss you and other VIPKid big timers. I hope we can form an Outschool Teacher environment where teachers get to know each other.
Hey there, Allyce! I plan to continue to create content for Outschool. Thank you for your support! The online teaching community is awesome! I'd love to hear what your story has been like, Allyce!

Hi Kristina, the only thing you didn't mention as an improvement is the Hours. Is it still EARLY in the morning with Outschool?
Hey there! The hours are flexible. Most of the students are in the US and many are homeschooled and have flexible schedules. I primarily teach in the afternoon (Eastern time) but I could do mornings or evenings!
I am a US resident, but currently reside in Mexico. I am also a VIPKID teacher, but am looking for additional resources.

Thank You for motivating me to look into Outschool! :)
You're welcome! Are you an Outschool teacher now?

I checked the website and it looks like the top end is 40.00 an hour as it says up to 40 an hour and then take away 30% , I could be wrong though maybe that is after the 30% is taken.
Teachers can charge whatever they'd like. 😊 I know teachers who are making $70+/hr based on what they are charging and the number of students who sign up. Where did you see that number?
Heard of this company, but have no idea what I would teach about. I get no bookings with VIPKID.

Hi, Eboney! Thanks so very much! I appreciate your kindness 😊
Thanks Tina for the useful info. Which TESOL you would recommend for teachers? Should it be accredited? Are there special tesol for teachers with over 20 years of experience and others for fresh graduates? What are the best well- paid teaching
websites for non-native English teachers? May you rank them! Really appreciate your kind support!
Thank you for doing this video.
Hi, Donald! Thank you for watching it! It can be challenging to share a big change like this, but I believe that our transparency helps to empower others!
Hey Tina! Love your honesty! I think the hours are the toughest part of VIPKid! :) but I still love it!
I stopped making vipkid videos a year ago and have been debating on leaving. A friend told me about outschool and I think I’m going to try it.
Best wishes as you pursue Outschool! Thanks for being here!

@@KristinaGarcia The idea of not getting up so incredibly early and having more schedule control sounds amazing :)
What would the pay be like starting off with VIPKids compared to Outschool? Is it hard to get students with outschool?

I can't get hired through there. 🥺 I've sent in two videos now. I keep getting denied with no reason. 😭😭😭
