  • Alright, I promise this is the last install video...There will be some kind of ATV riding after this one! Install of the Ricochet Full Aluminum Skid Plate onto my 2016 XMR 850! Will be a nice addition for when we do the rocky sections at the Pig Roast this summer!

    Howdy Rob . Another great vid . I put the full CanAm skid plate on mine and looking at the bill , $829.93 . After the first couple of snows i left the center plates on but took the front A arm plates and the rear Trailing arms plates off . I plow 300 yards into the property and the snow would build up , turn to ice and tear the boot covers . Had to cut a small center section out of my center plate to access the plow mount . Probably put the A arm and Trailing arm plates back on this Sunday .

      Good to know, thanks Man! I expect to make some alterations and maybe like you say, not a bad idea to remove the boot covers for serious mudding! Thanks for commenting and checking out the video!

    Love the look Rob. I'm going to buy a sheet of composite plastic and make my own .For two reasons liter and almost just as strong. For around a hundred dollars I can make 2 skid plates and ill fasten them like the ones on you video. O my arctic cat I had made my own out of 1/4 inch aircraft aluminum and the were great too. Thanks for sharing.

      Be cool to see your video on that DIY! Might have to take off the Axle guards for mudding but that's a faily easy removal, other than that, they are doing the trick! Thanks for watching Frank!

    you are gonna love those skidplates, I put a set on my outlander minus the a-arm guards. its been 3 years now with them and looking at the damage they have taken its been well worth it. they are less than half the price of the can am ones and way more beefy... lots of rocks where I ride so they are a must, hate having to worry all the time about clipping something and taking out the engine case or something

      @RobFarrowATV  7 лет назад

      Yeah, I'm hoping there's no issues with them, seem to be well built! Just have to watch rocks and sticks getting jambed inbetween the plate and the boots but other than that, they should deffinitely do the trick in the rock fields...and there's a lot of those around here! LOL! Thanks for tuning in!

    This really helped me install my skid plates. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It worked exactly as you said and now I'm good-to-go. Your're right there are some access issues with these skid plates. I'll need to take the T27 and T40 drivers with me on the trail as well as the 10mm and the 13mm wrenches just in case there is an issue. Thank you!

    I think it's a good idea too have extra bolts available. Looks like they will get ripped off going over rocks.

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  7 лет назад

      Yeah, it's quite possible for sure! Just found out that it also makes it harder to wash the mud out from underneath! LOL! Thanks for watching!

    On my 2020 outlander I noticed in the front there is a slight bow up on the chassis. Is this normal I have only put 6hrs on it no crashes.

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  4 года назад

      I'm not entirely sure what you mean but with only 6 hrs on it, it should be fine. If you're concerned about it, I would take it to the dealer as if it warranty stuff they will take care of it. Good Luck!

    I am torn between these and the IB plastic ones. Does the aluminum really add a lot of noise?

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  Год назад

      I don't think they added any noise. They don't slide on rocks very well like the plastic ones do. They are pretty strong and take a good beating, as the plastic ones will crack and split under the same abuse. I eventually took them off as they collected a ton of mud and skeg on them and made the machine sluggish and hard to clean. If you're running mud and skeg a lot I'd go without but if you ride rocky trails they are a bonus. Good luck.

    will those a arm protectors work on can am renegade

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  2 года назад

      Not sure if they make them for the Rene or not, they should. If you're running skeg I'd recommend not running them as they fill up with mud and make the machine super heavy...hard to clean also. I ended up removing them to clean them and get at some other parts and just never put them back on. Nice for rocks but if you ride like a normal person, you can pick your lines and not tag rocks. It is a good piece of mind for lots of rock riding though. Happy Trails!
