All these years, and I never noticed the outfit swap until Corbin brought it up in this video!
I like that it shows what happens in summer for gay boys in a cute way; Ryan & Chad are singing innuendo to each other and the audience. The outfit switch after is more blunt; Ryan is at HIS country club. He and his sister are famous for wardrobe changes so you know Ryan had to have outfits there for him to change into. Chad is at his job. They both have been playing baseball. So they’ve clearly taken showers afterwards. Ryan could’ve gotten a change of clothes and uniforms are a dime a dozen at work for country clubs. To have these two boys switch outfits and then venture off into eating with each other just the two of them in front of their friends after a shower and playing a game that goes along with singing innuendo song cuz Ryan’s gay as hell is very intimate blunt and very backdoor forwards ❤❤❤❤❤❤🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🌈🦄🏳️🌈
i remember being on fan forums at the time where the median demographic had to be girls/gayboys somewhere between the age of 10-16 and ppl were in a tizzy over this whole scene (yes, even back then).. . and the outfit swap definitely wasn't lost on any of us.. . again, i doubt anybody over the age of 18 was watching hsm at the time (unless they had kids) and certainly not discussing the meaning for hours on forums, and we were all saying all of this.. . "how could any part of 'i don't dance' be interpreted as anything other than gay?" "how/when could they have swapped ENTIRE outfits?" "doesn't that mean they'd have to get nekkid with each other at some point between the gayest baseball game ever played and lunch afterwards?" i was a prissy whiteboy who only had girls as friends and recognized ryan as my avatar, so the idea that he could become 'friends' with one of the cute 'popular' guys definitely wasn't lost on any of us and we all collectively had a f#@king meltdown..

I didn’t think he was going to even mention the subtext of that song, and I almost thought he was going to mention the subtext of the outfit change but he went more vague about it. Understandable, really, who wants to give in to screaming 14 year old girls who ship the characters so much it’s become like a fact in their minds. I bet he WANTED to talk about it though, I could tell he wanted to say his piece about it but didn’t want to kick up that dust, I wouldn’t either if I were him.
Never been much of a fan of these movies but I’m not going to lie that I didn’t enjoy some numbers. I haven’t rewatched the full movies since the first time my sisters forced me to sit through it with them years ago but I appreciate when I see it floating around RUclips occasionally. This is one of those numbers that I will always enjoy seeing. The choreography is so fun and clever and I appreciate the time and skill of all involved in it.

Just take a look at the comment section of this video and that will prove my point pretty clearly. Although we don’t have clear ages for anyone here we can definitely say that most of the ones putting little rainbows and such and going on about how it was obvious Chad and Ryan were gay, are likely in the 12-16 range in age. This is a common thing with adolescents and teenagers.
