Rick doesn't drink and use drugs because he is smart but because he hates life.
Alcohol is the number-one drug that can/will destroy your life in one use: take a drive, call your boss, lose your pants in an alley behind a news station.
It will absolutely destroy your body over time.
Alcohol is highly addictive, neurotoxic, biotoxic, and induces mild to severe insanity.
So it makes you want more while it kills your brain and body and makes you crazy.
It is only because Rick hates life that he drinks and uses drugs; it is not because he is smart but because he wants to be dead.
If any of Rick's drink or drug induced adventures encourage you to want to behave like him, remembering how often he destroys the world, you haven't been paying attention to the show.
Ah yes. *This* episode. The one that didn’t totally scar me...
This one and the ending of the episode where Rick gets with Unity are the two episodes I will never forget...
Don’t forget season 2 finale is up there with most memorable best finale yet imo

This is the episode where we start to understand why Rick is the way he is. He has access to an infinite number of realities. If nothing matters then why do you go on with life?
Doesnt matter if nothing matters whats important is enjoying existance
But his life isn't that different from ours apart from super portal guns and sci-fi tech. If nothing matters in his reality nothing matters in ours, which in my opinion might very well be true. So the real question is buddy, why do YOU go on?

The catch is, even though it changes everything, it actually changes nothing. That's the whole point. It doesn't matter if it's your "real" family, house, world, dimension, or not. The only thing that matters is the here and now.
One thing I always noticed is that morty didn't need to be traumatized. At the end when the cronenberg rick and morty said they messed up their world and made everything normal, those two set could have just switched. The outcome likely would have been morty just going along with it, since he wouldn't have had to see himself dead (which seems like it sparked the freakout as opposed to replacing the family which was a side effect). I love how you can look at this show from so many angles.
@@mz1r3o I feel like he also could've gone to a reality where Rick managed to fix everything and he could've asked that what he did to fix it.

This episode was really awesome. When I first watched it I thought everything would go back to normal. To switch it up like they did was a twist I never expected and loved them for that.

The thing about this episode that gets me is Morty at the end. Put yourself in his place - you just buried a copy of yourself from a different reality. The people that you know aren't the people you know. They're strangers. They look the same, but they're not the people you grew up with, the people you know. Your own family is a stranger to you - the house isn't your house, the bed isn't your bed. You're the stranger in the world.
Not really. Taking into account that Rick and Morty use the Many Worlds Theory of multiple timelines then that means every single time a quantum event happens it splits into two new realities.there are trillions of such events just within a mile of you, now apply that to a universal scale. There’s not necessarily difference between the new family and the old. It

@2:08 I like how when Rick is deconstructing the pointlessness of love, Dos is smiling away, lost in the episode, while Kacee is clearly uncomfortable and hurt.
David Cronenberg, the Baron of Blood. I loved this episode.
Yep, this was the episode when it really sunk in how far they were willing to take things. And really, subverting the sitcom trope of resetting the premise back to normal by the end of an episode was genius.
I loved it too, but I do have to mention - American Dad did it in their Christmas episode, Rapture's Delight (s6e9)
Not as smart as this show, but still really funny (especially if you are expecting Family Guy level humor, it's much better)

I have Hulu and I use Rick and Morty like a Nightlight, this episode at least once a week I wake up to pee singing "I love Morty, and I hope Morty loves me".
WHEN THE DUDE SINGING started saying i love morty i started dieing because me and my neighbor watched that episode WE DIED LAUGHING FOR LIKE AN HOUR XD im 12 and he is 9

Episode 6 is such a crazy mind fuck and oddly hits you at the heart lol. That’s literally disheartening in a way since for a lot of folk, myself included, you love your loved ones and the thought of fictionally abandoning them for a world where you died is disheartening. Like Morty knows that no one in that world is the “actual” version that he “knows” and I can’t imagine what that does to your brain lmao
They laughed the entire time through the ending but I was just sitting there shocked out of my mind and what I was seeing.
It’s funny cuz it’s like they subvert the expectations by not fixing everything at the end but they still fixed everything at the end just in a unique way 😂
Please dont watch any fan theories until you've caught up with the show... Having said that, a popular theory is that ricks ex-wife is mrs frizzle from magic school bus.
And Mrs. Frizzle is a Time Lord.

And that's how you see the complete first season of R & M and not feeling lonely
This has one of the best endings. It's trippy and disturbing. It's the same but it's not the same reality. This show occasionally has some pretty heavy endings, lol. It's great.
This totally hooked me on R&M for good. Once in a while this show goes to a dark moody place where things aren't funny, and I love it.

The best thing about this show is it has a timeline to follow with each plot per episode. Whereas most other comedic animated cartoons you can pretty much watch anywhere and have a good time. IT's one of my favorite things about it. Hope you got the Kroninberg reerence

THIS is the beginning of rick and morty.
I mean Morty just saw that he and Rick died in that world, and no one even noticed that he was replaced. To realize how little any individual matters, that there are an infinite number of people just like you is kinda horrifying.
Thanks for another great reaction, I've watched this episode countless time and never get bored of it. But seeing other people get through it for the first time is always so fun, can't wait for the next one!!
