Great video! When I was youngster growing up in Queens back in the 80`s I would sometimes play hooky from school and just ride the buses all day long, transferring from one bus to another!
I remember the green bus lines going on the Q35 bus was my line going to the Beach from Flatbush Brooklyn back in the days I missed the classic rts buses and fishbowl buses
Hey Trainluvr, thanks for posting another wonderful classic transit video. I certainly appreciate them. Excellent angles and shots, especially from the upper floors on the buildings you were in. Really neat seeing the #7 line with the "White Bird" train at 2:15. Captured that time period so exceptionally well. Also very nice overhead shots at 0:20, 0:40, 0:43, 2:08 and 1:14. The shot of the "fishbowl" at 1:35 looks sharp.
I didn't come here because of the buses (although its cool seeing the old ones)... But just the streets where I grew up to remember what life was like back in those days. Awesome video. Great soundtrack too, perfect.
jrichman21 it was a special time for sure. the WAPP radio poster really brought me back.remember the commercial free summer? and the korvettes store! good stuff
1:21 Long Island Bus Terminal on Merrick Blvd across the Queens Borough Library Central Branch. The Q5 and other buses that travelled on Merrick Blvd used to stop there before they got moved to Parsons Boulevard and Archer Ave when the subway station was built.
From 2:20 to 2:25, yup I remember Green Bus Lines Incorporated as one of the seven private bus lines under NYCDOT!! Although I remember riding Green Bus Lines tenure when they had the '97 reject Orion V's from WMATA, GMC & TMC RTS's as well as the MCI Classics, it was great riding those buses! Great vintage photography!
We would ride the Green Bus over the bridge in the late 1960s from Flatbush Ave to Riis Park to play pitch and putt Fare was an extra 10 cents to ride over the bridge
Yeah my bus line back in the days was the q35 from Brooklyn to queens and the q22 bus in Far Rockaway Queens and the q60 and q8 bus i miss the green bus line it was part of my childhood 😢💔
Screw the hybrid cng low floor plastic ones I remember a lot of those of fishbowls by gmc and their lookalikes by flexible and gmc old looks didn't even have automatic transmissions the. Just four speed manuals
You didn't even have to own a car in New York ever you still don't the transit system in New York is phenomenal between the trains and the buses they come every 15 minutes in Florida you're right to get a bus and is no train system and you ride a bike you get run over and killed there's nothing like New York Transit system I miss it so much when I was when I was growing up I wish there was a time machine but it will never be like it was once before God bless everybody peace out show kindness and love 🙏👏👍☺️
Just beautiful, I don't even know where to begin. At 1:56, I see both AMGs (production units, which didn't last long) and the 1979 Grumman 870 demonstrator, which MTA kept and renumbered 199. The Grumman looks very sharp. Did you personally ride the AMGs?
HI Trainluvr. I listened to a slew of James Clarke instrumental tunes, but none of them are ones that you put in this video, including "Short Cut". Do you have the names of the 3 tunes on this video? They sound really cool and I'd enjoy hearing the full versions ;-)
OK, thanks for replying so quickly. I'll continue to search. I remember this type of music so well and, interestingly, the tunes you used here have a "1970's New York style" sound to them. High Greens ;-)
Hi ACLTony and Trainuvr......I got the 3 tunes info...... 1. Thrilling Spectacle by Brian Bennett 2. Survival by John Cameron 3. Short Cut by James Clarke
Thanks!! It figures such evocative sounds would have been composed and performed by such maestros of easy listening. I might as well admit that I got these three, in this form, from a Western Airlines commercial.
Hi AJ, man thank you so much for doing the research. Much appreciated! One thing, if you don't mind. I found the first two songs, but when I found the 3rd song or tune by James Clark ("Short Cut"), it did not match the 3rd tune on Trainluvr's video. Any thoughts?
I lived on College Point Blvd until I was 9 years old. My Father worked for Queens Transit in College Point. Nice memories from my childhood. Nice video.
This brought back so many memories.
Great video! When I was youngster growing up in Queens back in the 80`s I would sometimes play hooky from school and just ride the buses all day long, transferring from one bus to another!
Thank you so much for this. Great editing and perfect choice of music.
I remember the green bus lines going on the Q35 bus was my line going to the Beach from Flatbush Brooklyn back in the days I missed the classic rts buses and fishbowl buses

I saw the Ramons live in 1988 in a Catholic school Gymnasium, Our Lady Of Lords in Queens Village, what a show!
