  • Join us for Sleep Apnea Awareness Day! All month sleepapnea.org will discuss the less common types of apnea, like #sleepapnea and children. Raising awareness for all people, of all ages, to become empowered advocates for quality sleep for themselves and their loved ones!
Today we speak with Sarah Honaker, PhD, a pediatric sleep researcher. Sleep breathing disorders in children are more common than most parents and caregivers realize. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children deprives them of much needed oxygen to their growing and developing brains during sleep. OSA can lead to daytime function issues including problems with academic performance, mood and irritability, and hyperactivity.
If your child snores or is a noisy breather during sleep, or is a restless sleeper always tossing and turning, talk to their pediatrician about getting a #sleepstudy. Helping with their sleep issues today will ensure a better tomorrow for your child.

What if the child has central sleep apnea? I believe I’ve had this my entire life.
