Big Tom McBride's death announced on RTÉ News (17th April 2018)

RTÉ News announces the death of the undisputed king of Irish country music, Big Tom McBride. The pride of Oram in County Monaghan, Big Tom enjoyed a more than 50 year career in show-business, and achieved 19 hit singles in the Irish charts, including three number-ones. Big Tom died in the early hours of 17th April 2018, aged 81, at a hospital in Drogheda following a short illness. His wife Rose, to whom he was married for 52 years, predeceased him in January 2018, aged 72.
