  • Hayate has a much better jump than Kaede, as well as possibly being stronger? I feel like he's stronger, or there's just something about how his strikes register. Kaede is better on the ground, though it makes me really question what the point of the Shinobi Step is other than to be speed run bait. Really don't like stuff like that where it's just min/max BS with very little function than to make something convoluted. You can't cancel into Shinobi Step and it doesn't serve as a dodge either.
    Kind of stings!
    No plans to really co-op this, since it seems like it'll be offline/couch co-op and my health makes coordinating for a parsec playthrough something I don't want to deal with. I wasn't sure what to do about item spill over, so I botched the score at the end, but that doesn't really bother me.

    Slower but more strength, it looks like... I like the look of the game, but I'm not a fan of the "offscreen" parts not having any real indicators besides the 1P on your char's general position; seems like it'd be trial and error to feel your way around up there, or was it no problem?

      It really depended on whether I was bumping into objects. The realism or naturalizing the game uses can be super awkward to interact with. I won’t say it didn’t cause problems, but it was purely in the context of if I was trying to play super precisely to put on a show. I think people will have more issues with the controls than they would with the camera.
      If you do a spin to prolong your hang time in the air, the game won’t let you ledge grab platforms above you. Also, collision with objects like platforms will cause grabs to initiate if you’re holding up. It just feels very odd, and I do think it’s part of how the game used to feel. Very weighty and, as a result, cumbersome feeling.
      All that is to say… my issue wasn’t necessarily not being able to see my character, it was whether I was going to fumble the controls. It’s hard to describe in text how sometimes I have to triple tap up to climb a ledge then also remember the game won’t just let me press down to dismount a ledge. Lots of weird details I already feel I’m over sharing about. I like the game, it’s just eschewing a lot of modern comforts for what I think is going to be puzzling to most players.

      Also, what is crazy is Hayate is effectively faster than Kaede because of his jump and Shinobi Step, I still can’t get over that lol.

      There are no difficulties in the demo, though enemies have more HP in multiplayer.
