    Have you got any footage of Thurlestone? Wonder what the storm has done to the Louis Shied...

    Very impressive, and a great record, apart from the fact that it isn't South Milton Sands. It's THURLESTONE Sands, and has been for centuries. They're named after the Thurle (or ring) Stone which you can see in the video just off the beach. History can't be rewritten, much as some people might like to.

      I appreciate your comment, Chris. The whole beach WAS Thurlestone Sands for centuries, and many people will continue to call it that, but the National Trust have renamed the southern half South Milton Sands. If I ignored that in my advertising literature my watersports customers might park in the northern car park and be unable to find me! I do agree with you - the Thurle Stone is at the south end of the beach!
