How many of you are also thinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald when watching this? Lake Superior is a stunning beauty, but can be VERY moody diva when a storm provokes her into one of her famous tempers.
The great lakes are beautiful, majestic waters of many moods. Not to be underestimated for sure. I've lived on Lake Ontario my entire life, and even though she's the smallest one, her fury can awake at any moment with a wind shift or storm. The summers and autumns are gorgeous. Winter is rough, spring is cold... But the summer makes up for it.
Beautiful! I appreciate that you did not interpose any unnecessary background music, as some folks do, but just let the “music” of nature be heard. (We live near lakes Erie and Ontario).
Thank you for posting. Growing up on lake Michigan this was a familiar site, always thought I just had to walk to the beach any time. Now I am living in a desert state and really missing the big water. I saved this post to view any time, bring serenity to the soul . Thanks again🥰
Again, absolutely stunning. The aqua, green, lavender colors against the pure white of foam and snow. And the sky is flat grey. It's all about the water. Perfect.
I got to experience the Meyers Beach ice caves one year and all the sounds of dripping water was amazing. One time I was east of Grand Marais MN, and there was a crack in the lake and there was an ice river flowing. I could have listened all day.

Never been on Lake Superior. But did some time on Lake Michigan (CGC Mobile Bay 80/81) and Lake St Clair (small boat station). On the ship, been as far as Detroit, and up to Sault Ste. Marie. . I've seen Lake Michigan in a bad mood heading out from the Sturgeon Bay ship canal so I can only imagine what Superior is like when it's pissed. The lakes are a beautiful but unforgiving place. Always file a float plan.
There’s two big rocks in front of where I’m sitting that stop the water from getting me. I can sit right on the water. Sometimes there’s so much water it comes back from shore. Then I just climb the rock
Lake Superior is NOT the biggest Great Lake. Lake Michigan and Lake Huron joined by the straights of mackinaw create the largest freshwater lake in the world 🌎 even larger than lake baikal
Maybe in terms of surface area (not that anyone views the two as a single lake, any more than they view every body of water at sea level as a single undifferentiated ocean), but given your reference to Baikal that's clearly not what you intended. In terms of volume, I'm afraid Superior holds more water than all of the other Great Lakes combined, hence it is mathematically impossible for just two of the other four to be larger than it.
@@drmwpnExcellent response. I was going to respond to the OP with a similar missive however yours was so succinct and informative mine would have paled in comparison.
Catch the video where the waves crash against the 80 ft.cliffs of the North shore of Minnesota & throw over the top...then everyone can judge for themselves the sheer terror, beauty & majesty of the Gales on mighty Lake Superior!! Love my Lakes & Michigan!!
I’ll try it if we get a really bad day. It’s too sporadic unless they’re over 15 feet. Every ten minutes or so it gets bad for a few minutes then it calms down.
And they? Think its us prospecting for gold its nature that is doing the erosen, just like all over the world, has been for thousands of years!! Not people with shoves on the beach!! Prospecting for gold.. ive never been thier have trip planned for July.too do so now may not beable too??? D.G.P.
On windy days i drive down to Lake Michigan 30 mins away and watch the waves. Amazing to behold!

I can’t imagine going in freshwater lake with waves that big.
I went in one winter and it was not fun
Sounds weird though.
Lake Superior is on my Bucket List! ❤
It's so much better in the fall
Went there this year. Some place that most definitely needs to be experienced. Truly Awesome
Mine too....to avoid! 😘
Looks like the ocean.
Beautiful wave action in the big lake for sure! Those waves would crush a surfer!
I’ve seen them go in it like that
I'm watching It from Italy..i'd really like to visit the big lakes in lifetime.

what chance does a little boat have?
Wow...fantastic ❗❗
I will be moving to the Keweenaw Peninsula in Lake Superior. 😀 Imagine if some how there would be a way to harness that energy.
I have seen lake superior in person and it is scary. It looks like a ocean.
Remember swimming in Lake Superior a few times as a kid in Thunder Bay. Even in the midst of summer, it was cold. Brisk. And other synonyms. Bracing.
I went in last week. It wasn’t too bad for the end of may. It seems a lot warmer this year

These are just north of Sault Ste marie
Drove along Superior via Trans Canada. Awesome
It’s an awesome drive
Great videos, does any one have any idea how large these waves are? my guess 7- 10 feet.
I don’t usually go unless they’re around 10
Could heaven exceed the majesty of gods creations on earth. We are truly blessed with the moods of the great lakes.
😊thanks
Needs more music like the other Lake Superior vids on youtube.
- said by no one, ever.
The only music I would even consider is the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Would love to see this in person. Only seen superior from canal park in the Summer. She gets angry in the winter I guess. She’s the boss..
Yeah there’s nothing like being there in person. Especially if you can find shelter from the wind
For anyone who wondered how so many ships could sink on a lake, this is the answer.
These lakes create their own weather patterns.
