Fellow people from Massachusetts, let’s team up to laugh at these people!
Ok
Itll be my pleasure
It’s hilarious. I live in Wayland luckily
Yes
Yup
To the people saying, "They just stole the names of English cities!", it's because America was colonized by the British. The *British* named the cities.
The British don't know that though, apparently.
Yeah, they were far away from home and wanted a little something that reminded them of home in the New World
Thebiggestcheese they sure don't, lol.
Ikr! How do the British NOT know this sh*t???
Have you people ever taken in account that they probably haven't learn the material yet in school? They probably learn it late into highschool or something.
“I’m saying every letter”
Yeah that’s why you’re wrong
They easiest way to pronounce Mass towns is just skip half the vowls and forget about the letter C
they just salty
In the delicate language of Boston, the letter R does not exist.
@@Anomaly-ov1so and R
@@samanthasays3603 sure it does, otherwise, how would you say "Roxbury"?
"It's like the sauce."
[Proceeds to mispronounce the sauce.]
TitanFind ñño .
And this is why every Massachusetts resident says they're from Boston.
blackjac5000 but I'm actually from Boston I do live there :(
Lived in Mass my whole life and I had that habit. I’m from Billerica and proud of it.
New Beige!!
blackjac5000 except I actually live IN Boston
Well I'm from Taunton, is that close enough?
I love living in MA....you know someone is new to the state when they tell u they live in "WOR-CHESTER"
Alice Rizkallah yup!
Definitely
Wistah.
Or Peabody as pea-body instead of peabuhdy
You mean "Wistah"? I'm from Watahtown.
WHAT THE HELL THIS IS HILARIOUS LMAO i never realized how hard our town names are for people outside new england
Fr
Look up gerrymander 2 in massachusetts salisbury haverhill methuen andover middletown danvers salam lynnfield lynn chelsea marblehead it looks like a serpent..
Yep lol
Would've been funny to give them Dorchester at the end to see what kind of crazy stuff they come up with, and then it's just read as it's spelled lol.
The trick is to give them Dorchester after teaching them how to properly pronounce Worcester. Then the comedy would really start 😂
When I worked in telemarketing, I had to call residents of Massachusetts for health insurance purposes and we seriously had an entire training segment on how to pronounce the names and cities.
LMFAO
CountessOfPerth That's hilarious.
CountessOfPerth HAHA thats great!
Rebecca StarButterfly You'd have to ask whoever started telemarketing. For me, it was how I made money. And unfortunately, those of us who make the calls have no control over who we call, when, why, or how many times. And you'd be surprised at how many people are kind or even purchase something! :)
WORCESTER
As someone who lives in Massachusetts, I was hoping they would try to pronounce the name "Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg" (It's an actual name).
I googled that name thinking you were trolling but now my mind is open to new opportunities
Grégory Try living in this town in Wales

I feel bad for the people who have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia reading these names.
I bet the guy came up with that name as he was drowning in it.
“This is why the rest of America doesn’t like to hang out with you”
Me: uhh... no, you’re all just jealous of us
They hate the fact we got free healthcare!
Lol, He presumed people from Massachusetts want to hang out with his ignorant ass.
Na it’s because we are impatient af. If you from Mass you probably didnt even read this hole thing. Im so impatient and lazy that i dont care about spelling and grammer
@@incredibleeli97 Don't be such a ball Busta.
Yea
Imagine if other things were in Massachusetts:
The capital city, "Washtan"
The great city, "Newrk"
The river, "Mispi"
"Mispi"😂😂
You nailed it! :)
Would save time, not gonna lie
I live in a town called sandwich
Jeremy Dunford I know where that is
I love how the cruisers in your town all say "Sandwich Police" on the side.
Used to live there.
Sandwich mass or sandwich NH
Yup every time I drive threw sandwich I look at the cop cars
the guy who is triggered by Massachusetts town names is clearly from new york
Muh dutch settlements
don't forget RAHchester, Onondaga, Canandaigua, and Cheektowaga
I am from The Bronx but raised in Massachusetts but i know how to pronounce some
I’m a So Cal girl and am totally with that dude😂
pougheepsie
I live in Massachusetts and this made me laugh until I cried. Also it's funny that some people get so mad. And I'm very proud of Ned and Chris for getting some correct
You always follow up "Worcester" with a "Dorcester" to really show everyone just how inconsistent that state is.
This^
Lmao
...It's actually spelled Dorchester. 😂
It got an H in there pal
Oh my god yes! They’ll kill ya 😂
So basically Massachusetts has a load of copied names from Britain?
Astrofishisist Because America was colonized by the British. That's also the reason that this region is called "New England".
Well really the very first place that the British group that left England was Massachusetts and so there we have a lot of names that are from Britain.
Exactly
Um considering it was British colonists who docked in Boston first and named everything yeah.... So it's not copied Hun
um like no.
i agree or it wouldnt be called new england for a reason
The title should be, "Americans Try To Pronounce Massachusetts Town Names which are named after British Cities"
Exactly what I thought
Omg yeah its just copying British names😂
That's why these degenerate half breeds can't pronounce them correctly, because they're not American names.
George Cooper Maybe if you used you head to realize that thats because their named by british people who colonized Massachusetts aka New ENGLAND......
Almost every town in Massachusetts was named after a British city. Trust me because I've lived here all my life.
Only people from Massachusetts can pronounce these names because we have a higher intellect😂
Well, Brits would probably do fine...
Max Spargo High intellectual??? 🤔Is this why you guys all from Mass do not pronunciate your "R" for example when it's actually Cars...C.A.R.S. and you say Caah..C.A.A.H...no higher intellect there...😂🤣😂
Hotpinkpanties 272Your just thinking of stereotypes I live I Massachusetts and everyone I know pronounces it “car” so
Hotpinkpanties 272 so apparently British people don’t have high intellect because we don’t pronounce the R with a hard accent clearly you have low intellect for labelling someone on one letter 😉🙄
Hotpinkpanties 272 I’ve never heard anyone talk with a Boston accent and Ived lived in Massachusetts for my whole life
Loved this! There's another town that's deceptive to out-of-staters (except Rhode Islanders): Scituate. It's pronounced "sitchewit," not "skitchewate."
I guess it's not that the rest of America can't read, it's just that nobody in Massachusetts can spell.
We can spell, we just have acents so it sounds differently
They are British and Native American names. The people in this thread terrify me. Read a history book.
I'm sorry Amy B, but I have to let you know that you just spelt ACCENTS wrong. You see? Two c's
MonkeyGaming A typo, on the internet... groundbreaking.
Go to England and you'll get the same pronunciations. These are British names given by British people when they colonized what they called New England.
I’m from Lynn and notice people struggle with Peabody. They pronounce it “Pee Body” when it’s more like Peeebadee lol
I think you meant to say "I’m from Lynn and I notice people struggle"
Alex Dunbar I notice the struggle with heroin in the suburban areas around Lynn 💁♂️
Aayyyyy someone from lynn😎😎😎
karen pleitez 🤟🤟🤟
Billie Dahling 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
The title makes it seem like MA is not in America....
Anyone else think that?

As someone from New Hampshire they are all pronounced "Shithole"
lolol me too and i agree, live free or die pride all the way
And people from New Hampshire are pronounced New Hamshits
I just call you guys little Canada.
and here in mass we pronounce new hampshire as "incestville"
You New Englanders are funny. I live in So Cal and I am off tomorrow. Should I go to the beach or go snowboarding in Big Bear? You know what, I think I'll go camping out in the desert, thanks anyway though..
I guess only true Massholes can pronounce all these cities😂 But I'm happy that somebody finally did a video on my state, I feel like everything's about California on RUclips

Moving to Leicester in 3 weeks. I'm so glad I watched this video. I'm from Memphis.... Def wouldn't have gotten any of these right 😂
I love it when people say “lee-oh-men-ster” when they try saying Leominster
That honestly got me mad
beep_creep_cheap _peep right lol
When I was little I did that on purpose to annoy my parents
The original town is pronounced Lemster.
"Why even have all these letters if you're not gonna use them, Massachusetts?
Either pronounce them the way they're written, or write them differently Massachusetts!
This is why the rest of America doesn't wanna hang out with you." Lmaoo the guy who got angry by all these names was hilarious
yeah ikr im from Massachusetts and it was so funny to watch

I'm from Massachusetts and seeing this made me laugh so hard! Especially on Worcester! Anyone else from Mass?

I'm from Massachusetts and this is so funny! Finally, something about Massachusetts for once!
Everything is about Massachussetts. Its the most historical state in the US
Elijah Falconer Despite it being the most historical state, it's never about Massachusetts. It's always all about California or New York; the places where the celebrities, stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. are, which is pretty disappointing. Regardless though, I love this state.
IKR!!!
What about the other 47 states...
"Why do you have all these letters if your not even gonna use them Massachusetts"
THATS WHY THERE IS A TON OF SMART PEOPLE IN MASSACHUSETTS THAT ARE NOT LAZY OK.
Hahahahahaha
So true
+Aribah Hussain I KNOW THEY R JEALOUS CAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST EDUCATION.
+Aribah Hussain I'm _from_ there and I don't know a few of them (I've only ever been to Worcester usually stay near the southwest not the center.)
Uhhh, no see how many idiots are in Boston
I live in Leicester and it’s so cool that they did this bc everyone always just says we’re part of Worcester county bc our town is so small
I grew up in Stoughton (stou’ton), or, as everyone else pronounces it “Stof’ton.”
Massachusetts I like you, you have UK place names like Gloucester, Leicester, Worcester and Leominster and pronounce them correctly!!!!
well are the ones with the history background
its called new england for a reason...
We did screw up "Harwich."
Finally someone likes Massachusetts besides the people in Massachusetts
I was looking for a comment like this !
I live in MA and I didn't realize these names were ridiculous until watching this. It's funny how we normalize our surroundings when we grow up. And NO we do not all have that accent that everyone loves to do. In fact, people from Mass whose families go way back to the pilgrims and puritans (like my grandma) have a weird sort of British-ey sound to their voices...
Same
Yep i have snow outside right now!
ya i know i live 5 minutes away from gloucester and its weird that people would have a hard time pronouncing that!!!
Yeah, I thought Only Boston made sense
I live in Boston and I don't have an accent period BYEEEEEEEE
As someone who lives in Leicester and works in Worcester, I love showing this video to people around the country!
I lived in Haverhill for a while, and now live in Salem NH, right across the border. This video was part of my Cognition class for SNHU, its wicked funny. In true Masshole Form I did a paper on the Smaht Pahk commercial from Hyundai too hahah

shadowslayer0420 Oh yea, Western Mass. Everyone forgets that place even exists, lol
shadowslayer0420 Wait, wtf is a "western" Mass? Don't you mean New York? Nothing exists west of Worcester.

Typical Americans, sorry 😅
I’m from Massachusetts and I’m laughing so hard right now 😂
Weirdly pronounced cities always get me. My best friend (who's from Kentucky) got SO pissed off at my pronunciation of Louisville-apparently it's pronounced loo-uh-ville. I was like, sure Jan.
Hannah Z. well i just said it Loo-ee-ville and then said the same thing in a kentucky accent and it sounded like loo-uh-ville , maybe she doesnt get its the accent not the pronunciation ?
Because Louisvill was originally French
Hannah Z. Louisville, TX is pronounces LEWIS-ville. That's cool that Louisville (Kentucky I'm guessing) is pronounced that way though!
Hannah Z. It's actually closer to "Loo-uh-vul", with emphasis on the "loo". The closer to two syllables, the better.
Just so you don't get dirty looks if you ever find yourself in the Commonwealth and need to ask for directions.
Hannah Z. I was born and raised in Louisville and we pronounce it "Lou-uh-vull". We can tell when someone isn't from there if they pronounce it any other way lol.
I’m from the uk, and the majority of these have the same names as English towns or counties, so I was laughing my head of at them😂💕
Its cause Massachusetts has stolen them from you guys
Ethan Jandres No they were named by Britain when they came to the new land
Also a lot of the names correspond like for example you have Falmouth Dartmouth things like that which of course are near the water. Hence New England 😀
It's all the s*** we stole from you guys. You guys sing God save the Queen we sing My country tis of thee same tune. While we're chilling here in New England
Ethan Jandres actually we stole names from native Americans too
I can't even pronounce "Massachusetts" correctly
That's because it changes.
When Elizabeth Warren goes to DC it's called M'achusetts...because the "ASS" went to Washington🤣
Please do a video on pronouncing Gulf coastal city names. Like Mobile, AL. Picayune, MS. Kosciusko, MS. D'Iberville, MS. Metairie, LA. Natchitoches, LA. Thibodaux, LA. Plaquemine, LA.
I live in Leicester, but the one in England. I had no idea we have the same names of places, it's pretty cool.
Yeah a bunch of names from Mass has New in front of it like Bedford from U.K. and New Bedford form Mass
then there is bedford mass
Glad I'll be all set if I travel to England. Why yes, I do know how to pronounce Leicester and Leominster. I had no idea growing up that they were English in origin.
Most places in Massachusetts are named after places in England, I live in Framingham, it was supposed to be Framlingham but they forgot the L
JaziTheGamer Aj ayy I do too
I really hate that guy that keeps on insulting Massachusetts. As a resident of MA, I just have a special bond with it. And let's face it, that guy is never going to get a girlfriend
I know I got so mad at him when he said that's why nobody else want to hang out with you
I feel the same way I'm from California and I have family back in Massachusetts and I feel offended
ikr
They should have asked him to pronounce lake chargoggagoggamanchaugagoggmancaugagungamaug (excuse the spelling, I know it's wrong). Then he would really hate us.
Or Braintree because everyone tries to say it weirdly even though it's pretty obvious.
Smartest state in the country, you're welcome. 😂
Damn right
I've lived in Mass my whole life. I think it's easier to say Lowell is pronounced: Low-Wool. (Of course the w in low is silent so it will sound like Lo-wool) ) Concord: Con-Curd. Quincy: Quinn-Zee Peabody: Pea-Buddy or Pee-Buddy. Worcester: Wuss-Tah
They're all English town names, that I'm very familiar with. All except Cochituate, I guess that's Native American? It's interesting to see that modern Massachusetts people (Massachuttians? Massachuttese? The Mass-o-Chusetts???) still pronounce nearly all of them the same way we do. Though Leominster is even more basic in England: "Lem-ster".
Anyway, nice to see one corner of the U.S. with sensible names; you can keep your Omahahas and your Albukweekways ;-)
+Jamie Dawkins I think i'm called a "Bay Stater" because Mass is the "Bay State"
+fadadapple I prefer Massholes- cause we just are ;)
+Brittany R My bf in CT calls them Massholes, and I was about the comment that and then I saw your comment. Yay.

I’m from western mass and I can still pronounce the names great
Like half of these are British towns and cities
That's why they call it New England.
Not at all. At least one of these is a Native American name, the state is named after the Massachusett tribe. Take British Columbia, for example. Most of the place names are of Inuit origin!
I think all but one.
Worcester and Leicester are English town names.
