You can go between November to February if you want to experience, for moderate snow go in March and April.

Hi Sanjana, yes you can definitely travel to Almaty with infant, but yes going on day tour might be challenging and good thing Almaty is full of infants and children so you will not be alone.

Normal shoe will do in snow or snow special shoes one need is shoe are available on rent as in Gulmargh
Normal shoes will work if you’re not doing ski, if you’re planning to go for ski then you need gear otherwise normal shoes will work.

Why didnt you visit almaty lake?
Route to Almaty lake was not fine when I visited as told by locals, so have to skip it
