    I also recommend getting "Clean Burn" in the fire tree: Each spell cast reduces cooldowns by one second. Since you're spamming Spirit Blade the Cooldown on barrier, Fade Cloak and anything else you might have is getting reduced quickly.

    • @KazumiKiguma
      @KazumiKiguma 9 лет назад

      Downside to this is that if you go down the Spirit tree and the KE tree as far as is needed, then you're going to be pretty high level before you get to the point you can get Clean Burn. I agree with the theory, but it's just not plausable without sacrifices that you shouldn't be taking.

    • @CreativeUsernameEh
      @CreativeUsernameEh 9 лет назад +11

      Rukifellth The Shadow
      KE: 4 (Blade, Mana Regen, Barrier, Cloak)
      Spirit: 4 (Barrier, GS, MB, SoS)
      Fire: 2 (Immolate, Clean Burn)
      Total Level: 10

  • @HairFIip

    I just beat my first dragon today and it was so satisfying. My character is a KE as well but I also fought with the objective of keeping my entire party alive. I brought Cassandra, Iron Bull, and Solas. I spent quite a bit of my time in the Tactics view commanding everyone specifically. I'm not even playing on Hard or Nightmare, but I'm not that good and this is my first Dragon Age game. First time I saw the Ferelden Frostback I ran towards it with the mindset of the Dovahkiin, needless to say I got face rolled. One hell of a welcome to the series, but in already hooked. I'm about to spend my entire winter break on this game and there will be no regrets. But my main point is, I don't see the fun in playing a broken character, but whatever, people can play the game however they want as long as it's not affecting anyone else (i.e. Multiplayer).

      Ferelun You don't even need a tank in this game even on nightmare, spec'd right. Necromancer/Knight enchanter can basically become immortal and obliterate every enemy type in the game. Walking bomb is completely broken, because you can exploit it with the fade touched walking bomb material + spirit barrage + flash point allowing Dorian to basically spam detonations. Giving him a walking bomb ring just makes the AoE damage insane.

    I solo dragons with dual wielding rogues. All you have to do is stay under it and the most she can do is swat you with her foot. Her flames/ice don't do a thing because it doesn't even come close to you. If you have the guard/hidden blades/fortress enhancents, you probably won't even have to use a potion.

    Stumbled upon the fade shield + barrier + spirit blade combination last night fighting the storm coast dragon and it surprised the hell out of me to see how effective it was. My entire party died on me except for Vivienne and she seriously pulled through with essentially .01 percent of life left and an infinite barrier. I have the terrible habit of never paying attention to skill trees and such, and this was a bit of a wake up call lol. Thanks for the vid ign, I tried explaining this to a mate of mine today, whos playing aswell and I honestly couldn't explain exactly what happened. Pretty much ended up being, "yeah bro - she wouldnt fucking die! Barriers bro, barriers!" Cheers!

    So this is basically just praising the Knight Enchanter specialization, not Vivienne herself. Well, at least I know her specialization now, that means I can go on playing as a Necromancer and still have access to Knight Enchanter.

    • @Macder10
      @Macder10 9 лет назад +9

      but you can also become a knight enchanter and let dorian do the necromancing for you? dorian AI takes advantage of his specialization....vivviene really doesnt. also: Dorian>Vivien

    • @Allen_the_Fallen
      @Allen_the_Fallen 9 лет назад

      Macder10 I just prefer being a Necromancer. Melee doesn't suit a mage and it's cooler to play with death.

    • @KazumiKiguma
      @KazumiKiguma 9 лет назад

      Allen the Fallen Too bad that necromancer got the short stick in this game. Simulacrum is bugged (it's not supposed to be using mana, but it is), spirits just do their own thing and no loot or death flag is triggered until the spirit dies too, all that remains are a few good debuffs. Rift Mage was much more enjoyable imo.

    • @sashamaz
      @sashamaz 9 лет назад +2

      Isn't praising the knight Enchanter specialization the same as praising Vivienne since that is her USP and none of the other characters can do what she does and vice versa?

  • @MaerdYsatnaf
    @MaerdYsatnaf 9 лет назад

    Stasis field is actually a really good one to have for her build-up because it's a spell that forms around Vivienne, with her at the center. So since all her other specialization spells really are for up close and personal BIG enemies (like dragons as this video mentions), if you're overwhelmed by a number of forces, using Stasis Field is a good way to slow enemies down enought o either run away, or deal with the biggest threat first. It doesn't really have a use outside of this tactic because enemies bigger than her stasis field are immune. BUT if you're surrounded by a bunch of red-templar knights? A pretty nifty trick to pull.

    You should always get fade step... it's a great move to close distances to enemies that jump around a lot or when you need to close the gap between a ranged enemy. All that time you spent running toward the dragon could've been avoided. On tougher difficulties the amount of time spent closing the distance on enemies could mean life or death.

    After 200 hours and counting, with three dragons defeated, and only one campaign mission remaining, I played with, and barely ever switched from, my two-handed Dwarven Tank Warrior. Only recently have I been informed of Vivienne's Knight-Enchanter Qualities. This will make a fun, creative end to my Inquisition play-through on Hard.

  • @lancerd4934
    @lancerd4934 9 лет назад

    They didn't mention that fade cloak also allows you to instantly recover from knockdown and status effects. It's like a mini dispel that only affects the caster, which is handy. You can also make the build even more ridiculously unkillable by mastercrafting a set of robes with fade touched silverite, giving you +5 guard every time you hit something. Still not as much fun as the Arcane Warrior though.

    Hey IGN, there's a spec I used with my mage Knight-Enchanter. Do the Enchanter tree just like you did, and give guardian spirit and the barrier in spirit tree as well.
    Instead of doing full spirit tree though, I went to fire and if you look about halfway down the tree, you'll see a passive that gives your fire spells (all spells maybe?) a huge boost in damage depending on how much barrier you have on you.
    At one point, I remember 3 shotting a giant at level 24 with Immolate in the emerald graves. Its a pretty effective spec I like to do if I dont need more survivability, though if you do this, Id advise your setup here with vivienne or yourself (if your a knight enchanter mage) Its like a glass cannon sometimes... (not really if you have the guard and health on hit fade touched items lul)

I took Winters Stillness rather than Winters Grasp, so I gain mana when I feel like using my range with my staff, and I dont feel I need to freeze anything. I love KE because I can tank or cast so the people I run with dont matter, I switch groups often. A bit of a down side is that I feel I need to keep everyone geared up, but Im fine with that.

    I recommend using a rogue, and when presented with the option to specialize, become a tempest. I believe sera is one as well, and the focus based ability is a number of blade attacks that do 300% weapon damage per. Once you get the inquisition perk for 300% focus amount, you will do 55 of these attacks. Really easy way to drain a dragon of half or more of it's health in 10 seconds.

If you just max out the tanking tree and champion specialty he pretty much never dies, and very, very rarely loses threat if you set his abilities right. The 1h tree doesn't really offer much for the amount of points it takes. The damage seems negligible compared to how much tankier you can make him, and he doesn't have an issue with keeping threat without it.

    My Inquisitor has a similar build... though I also went down the Winter tree. Running takes too long. Dragon fly-hops away, Fade Step into it's face and recommence smacking it with your Spirit Blade.

    He should ditch Fade Cloak. He doesn't need it with all that barrier. What he should have is Fade Step to help him close in on the target so that the slow running speeds don't cost him his barrier.

    Even more sick, make your inquisitor a knight-enchanter too, two indestructible mages. I do the fire tree. Massive damage keeps barrier at 100%, the choatic focus ability overcharges spells by depleting barrier which of course is immediately refreshed. Ya, I solo dragons.

    it is not just Vivienne who is op actually she isnt at all. it is the knight-enchanter class that is op. choose it for a mage character and get the perks shown here and you will be as strong as what they show in this video.

    @amandagrogg3487 6 лет назад

    Hell, at a point you get good enough gear (armor/guard generation per hit, health per kill/hit etc)
    you don't even need health potions or Vivienne.
    Rock out dual weild, with The Iron Bull/Cassandra, Sera/Varric, and Dorian/Solas you're good.
    And if you get Deft Hands, you don't need another rogue, grab another warrior for DPS or mage for barriers.

    Well If you want to make a Knight Enchanter really strong. Grab a Fire staff, Take Barrage and step into the fire tree. Gives more options for ranged sustained damage. The passive which consumes barrier really doesnt hamper survivability. Immolate -> Barrage -> Frost step is a fun opener especially if you try to tank (Skipping treath reduction). If you crit with immolate you can also get 2x Barrages off for mega damage.
    Any dragon is soloable as knight enchanter, especially if you match a vurnability with barrage (so you can build barrier at range when required). This is fully possible using either the Inquisitor or Vivienne. Kinda regret i did my first playtrought as a knight enchanter inquisitor. But felt kinda heroic taking on the last mission solo, just for the heroic parts.

      As for my spec.
      Masterworks:
      3x Mortalisari Staffs one of each element (since the schematic is rare it can be subbed by first enchanter staffs). The Masterwork of choice whould be Hidden Blades x5, kinda hard to get but is farmable in hiddenwastes. Adds more dmg then alternatives especially when matching bosses weaknesses(the dmg is based on staff element). Alternatively you can try critical crafting on staffs and instead add hidden blades on robe.
      As for robes i made different ones. I have a hard time deciding on a masterwork who fits. Tried poison, walking bomb etc. But pull of the abyss works nice for AoE stacking (its not reliable). IF your fine with just making one robe id recommend put hidden Blades and different ones on staffs. Shieldbash is a decent alternative, 10% chance for extra raw dmg with huge bonus to armored works really well with barrage.
      Core skills: (16 points)
      Knight Enchanter:
      Spirit Blade - Defending Blade(Optional never found much use for it)
      Combat Clarity - Fade Shield - Knight Protector (Remaining skills and passives are optional)
      Spirit:
      Barrier - Elegant Defence (Optional, Since you can manage without casting your own barriers but decent as a fail safe)
      Rest of the spirit tree is optional, the mana regen and extra defencive options synergizes well with KE.
      Storm:
      Energy Barrage + Energy Bombardment
      Conductive Current (Since you shreds alot of your mana in burst its a decent dmg increase).
      Winter:
      Fade Step + Frost Step (Its mostly for mobility, but extra damage / barrier / dodge can be very usefull).
      Inferno:
      Immolate + Wildfire or Flashfire + Blistering Pain (if you really want a fear).
      Flashpoint - Pyromancer - Cleanburn - Chaotic Focus
      Once the core is complete id recommend abilities which focus on mana control / barrier control. Most likely filling up spirit tree, dispel and lifeward is really nice. Fade step is great for higher difficulties.

    Disruption field completely stuns enemies, not just a slow, not sure what they're talking about. That ability is great, especially for stopping a big enemy from hitting you, or prevent mages from teleporting.

    Knight enchanter is awesome but if you want to tear through everything you learn that and fire mine it really changes the game you do like 1 to 5000 each time it goes off then hack at it with the spirit sword

    Actually i crafted for her a staff what its a MAGIC SWORD !! like a lightsaber its called "sword of Tidarion" it do melee attack only so it works exactly as a warrior sword, with around 200 points of melee damage. plus i crafted it to build guard when it hit an enemy and put on her armor a seal for extra guard so i turned Vivienne ON A WARRIOR WITH MAGIC SPELLS AND GUARD, i think no one noticed she its a knight enchanter and can easly turn on a magic warrior, and with her spiritual damage she turns on a amazing warrior of melee
