Thank you very much for posting this video. I am one of your subscribers, owning an SLK350, over here in the UK. Very pleased with my SLK so far and good to hear your are having relatively trouble free motoring with yours so far. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Jon.
I loved how you did this video, great inspiration and example to share what you learned with others, thank so much! May be taking on a 2005 slk with some issues so doing some research before, so if I do I'll join the group you mentioned. Have a great week and thanks again!
Most of the AC problems (intermittant and permanent issues) in the SLK R 171 (2005 thru 2010 models) stem from 4 bad capacitors in the front SAM. The SAM circuit board has to be removed and cut open with a dremel tool. Replacement capacitors are all available from digikey. This is the only way to fix this issue; other than replacing the front SAM. (approx $ 4,000.00 at dealership) Replacing the SAM is no guaranteed fix. There is a detailed video on a mercedes blog but I can't remember which blog. Very challanging to fix but works. New caps have to be soldered in by a computer repair tech.
Great video for us SLK owners and for those members of SLKWorld. You should really promote your videos on the site I'm sure you'd have a great following and increase your subscriber count. Maybe we'll see your car in 'Ride of the Month'.
I’m liking these videos. I bought an SLK350, too. I wanted a roadster to do my 30mile each way commute. My kids are on their own and I bought a new Fiesta ST that I’ve modified for track fun. I really love that car, but it’s not the best ride for daily freeway fighting. I also have a truck for truck stuff. I am starting to think the FiST and SLK are a little redundant, but am now really enjoying them both.
Thanks for the great video! About to fix our '06 SLK, just stopped blowing today. Wwas hard to defrost the mist from the windshield right before it went out which leads me to blocked drain system.
I have the same scanner. It helped figure out what was wrong with my SLK's AC. Mine was the compressor failing to engage. It turned out to be an air bubbles in the high pressure side.
I noticed the passenger side floor gets wet due to water filling under the hood near the battery. In front of the battery is a rubber drain that needs to be cleaned regularly or you may toast blower resistor
OK, great video. Changed the Regulator and when it wasn't fully in yet I opened the driver door (the passenger was left open) and the blower came on and I didn't have the key in. I put the key in and turned it off and on and then shut the door. I assumed I had fixed the blower. finished putting it in and now nothing. Same as before. Is it the multi function sensor I now need to replace? I have read where a blower stayed on after the key was removed. Thanks in advance. Gary
Strange that it came on when it did. MB has a feature that allows the blower to run for a period of time after the A/C is turned off so you get the cooled air blowing through the condenser even after its disengaged. I’m not sure that’s what was causing yours to come on. It could be you need a multi-function sensor, yes.
How much do you miss the slk in hindsight? I think it'd be very interesting for you to make a video comparing all the cars you've owned but especially the slk350 since I have one of my own.
I miss it quite a bit. It’s a rare setup for this day and age - convertible, naturally aspirated V6, manual with rear drive. Those aren’t being made much these days. Good thought on a comparison video. I’ll have to think about that :).
Good evening !! Love this video it’s very helpful. I would like to know where did you purchased your multifunction sensor...? I’ve been looking around and haven’t been able to find my model 2005 slk 350 automatic convertible Benz. I tried looking also on eBay . But don’t know which junkslk you found it in .. thanks much blessings!!
Thank you very much. I believe, if my memory is correct, that I found it on eBay via a decent supplier. It was a well refurbished or new part from the looks of it and did the trick. Sorry I can’t remember the actual vendor.
Great video! Was your AC not blowing at all, or was it just not blowing cold air? I have a 2005 SLK 350 as well that is only blowing warm air, no longer cold. The "MAX COOL" text won't appear anymore and the compressor doesn't seem to be kicking on. Not sure this is related to the multifunction sensor or blower regulator...
Good afternoon: I have a SLK-350 2005 Hard Top Automatic Convertible . I’m having problem with my Air conditioning it’s not working and my check engine light 💡 keeps turning on. I came across your video and it sounds like the issue I’m having. I would like if possible you tell me where did you purchased your code reader gadget (icarsoft obd 2 v.2 ) ..? Because I’ve tried searching for tha same model but it get a different ones they have on Amazon it’s the version 1 . They also have another which looks exactly like the one you show on your video, however it only says icarsoft i980 OBD2 . Can you please let me know if they all work for any Mercedes Benz from 2005 -up or if possible send me the link where I may purchase that exact one you have . Thanks have a great rest of the day ..
Hi there. I purchased mine from Amazon and there are a wide variety of code readers out there with various levels of features. I selected one that works with specific models of Mercedes so that I could get the detailed codes and diagnostics I wanted.
Between The Wheels thanks very much ,I’m grateful for people like yourself that put up productive information videos that helps . The Mercedes Benz in my location is very expensive just to run a code reader it’s $150 dollars 💵 just to run the codes and in my town Mercedes Benz work for $137 dollars the hour. and right now I’m not working so your video opened my mind and was helpful . I’m purchasing the OBD2 gadget & thanks once again for taking time to read and respond my question. Blessings and have a great rest ofve the day & prosperity in your RUclips CHANNEL!!
I think it’s a great car. Solid, reliable, fun, and for a two seater, really practical. I had an old brown Buick as my first car, so I would have been lucky to have an SLK! Go for it!
Hi Juan, no, but I did happen to scan the system in between the repairs and the scanner reported no errors after the sensor was replaced (before the regulator was replaced). So, replacing the regulator might have been unnecessary, but I’ve saved my old part so I have a spare if needed one day.
i got 10 error codes. i followed your video and bought the same scanner 9210 The supply voltage of the control unit is too low (undervoltage) 9360 Communication error of AC bus with component A32n1 (blower regulator) 9398 Communication error of AC bus with component Defoster flap 93A8 Communication error AC bus with component Footwell flap 93B0 Communication error of AC bus component Recirculated air flap 9460 Electrical fault A32n1(Blower regulator) 9598 Mechanical fault Defroster flap 95A8 Mechanical fault Footwell flap 95B0 Mechanical fault Recirculated air flap 9606 Fault in CAN communication with control unit Door control module front left if i can get any help with these it would be appreciated. i see in your video you got the 9460 code and changed the blower regulator
I’m by not means an expert and that’s a lot of codes. For the relative cheap cost to replace, I’d start with the blower regulator, then clear the codes and try your system again under normal driving. Then read again and see if the car throws any of the codes again. Hope that works!
I’ve personally been afraid of cars with those high miles but the price is good. I’d check oil, clutch, maintenance history and drain plugs in convertible top housing. If it feels solid, might be a great car.
I’m waiting for more videos!!!! I have an 06 SLK 280 and you’re like the only slk car guy on RUclips!!!
Thanks for watching, MainlyManny. I’ll get going into production with more soon.
That was one of the best repair videos I’ve ever seen! Thank you!

Thanks for watching! Its nice to have cars for different uses but it does become a lot of work keeping them up.
Great videos, they're really interesting to watch. Also like the editing. Looking forward to new ones, keep it up!

Where did you get your strut brace, and did it fit up ok? Thanks! Great videos. I got my 2005 SLK350 manual for the exact same reasons you did!
Cgrace12, I got it from CDM motorsports and the fit was perfect. One of my episodes shows the install. Hope you’re enjoying your SLK too!!
Great series man! can't wait for more content
Thanks! More in the works.

Can you please send me the link for the parts.

Thanks. In my case I had no air blowing until my repair. Now I’ve returned to having no cold ac so I sense a recharge is in my future.
@@BetweenTheWheels On my 06 55 I have to wiggle the controls sometimes to get it to work:(
Do u happen to know what it means when the A/C turns and the Steering wheel shakes? Thanks
Id say your a/c compressor bearings failed!

Any idea if the scanner you have will reset your SRS airbag light?
I haven’t had to do it so I don’t know. Personally, I’d want to be sure that a fault was corrected before resetting the light.
very enjoyable video
Would you recommend the slk as a good first car asking because decideing on on my first purchase if not any suggestions

Did you try it after the multi function sensor was installed? Before you installed the blower regulator that is. Just curious. Thanks.

I believe I saw you the other day, maybe Friday, driving down Shore Dr. in Norfolk. Like to catch up with you sometime to talk SLK
Ha, not sure that was me. Maybe someone stole my car for a joyride!
Watch out nah! LOL. You are in the area tho right?
Maybe :)
Did your SLK come stock with the digital AC control?
Yes. I think it was part of a package when these cars were built.
@@BetweenTheWheelsokay thanks, I am wanting to change out my four dial ac to the digital ac and wondering how hard the process was.
Where did you get that front tower wheel brace?
