Another nice Survivor! Eagles like to fly, but this one can off-road, too. There is so much to admire in this AMC, and it's only natural that a fan of the channel would own this one. Thanks, Lou!
I remember when these were new and really liked them. I always have marveled at how AMC could have so little in resources and come up with novel ideas. Yes, the vehicles are archaic and not space efficient, but they always had personality! Thanks for sharing this with us, Lou!
Hi ultraviolet tp, Happy to read "I remember when these were new and really liked them." :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
One thing you can be sure of is it you can never be sure of what Lou is going to feature on his next video 🤔. Nice find Josh. Not only is that rig extremely rare but the have that level of options is incredibly rare. Power windows and door locks? Rarely see them
Hi Terry, "One thing you can be sure of is it you can never be sure of what Lou is going to feature on his next video" I like to share a variety of Makers & Vehicles :-) Happy to read you appreciate the rarity of seeing one of these today, Lou
This 1983 AMC Eagle is extraordinary with that elegant combination of white and dark brown running across the entire lower part of the body! I still remember when I saw some of these rolling through the streets of my city (Guayaquil-Ecuador) back in 1983-84. Its design always caught my attention, a kind of rare combination between a sedan and a 4X4; His height also proves it. A spacious and comfortable interior, with elegant wood touches, both on the beautiful instrument panel and on the doors. Congratulations to Josh, for having such a unique model in such fantastic condition! Best regards, Lou!
Very nice Eagle! Thanks Lou and Josh- this is a great example. Somewhere @joeligo (noted AMC enthusiast) is smiling. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
🙋♂️ THANKS LOU JOSH…I LOVED IT ❤ BACK IN THE DAY ,AS A PRACTICAL CAR …BUT BEAUTIFUL ,LUXURY … for the budget 👍🤗 … and if I remember right it was 232 in.³
Segui adelante. Gracias Lou.
Hi LZ, He would have offered a ride, however he is in a parking spot in a car show, so we moved it to be able to walk around in it. Bottom line, we did the review because that's what we were able to do, Lou
Hi Lou! Never thought you'd cover an AMC Eagle! I remember the Eagle first appeared in the fall of 1979 as a 1980 model. It looked like AMC had something to top the Big Three - and the Eagle was a success; it even helped sustain AMC until the Chrysler takeover in 1987. It's worth noting that the Eagle was the only AMC model to be offered after 1983. AMC dealers were attempting to push sales of the newly introduced Alliance subcompact (I won't go too deeply into that), and it had dropped its woefully outdated 1970-vintage Spirit and Concord models. Their emphasis was on the Jeeps, and they were still selling well. The Eagle survived into the early months of 1988, by which time it was only offered as a wagon, and simply called "Eagle Wagon." It was the final automobile ("crossover" hadn't yet been coined) from the last American independent automaker; after that, AMC survived through 1998 as the "Jeep-Eagle Division." Thanks again, Lou, for stepping outside the box and showing us something different. I wonder what's next, a Dodge Omni GLH or a 1981-85 Chevrolet Citation X-11? _(9/18/2023)_
I remember a period, after AMC was sold to Chrysler, when the Eagle was the best bargain for 4 wheel drive on the used market, because many people weren't familiar with Eagle, since it was a new name. Wish I'd bought one.
I miss the 1980 Eagle wagon that my dad had. It was pretty basic, manual windows and locks. It was full time 4 wheel drive. There was no selector switch to turn it off.
These use to be all over here in NE area. A co worker had a Yellow 2 Dr. Version. I remember thinking they were not the best looking cars but they were a great idea when the only other 4WD sedans and wagons were Subarus at the time.
When they started it up, I thought I was listening to a hundred cats being tossed into a wood chipper!😂😮 Now that is some American automotive engineering technology that had to be why AMC is nothing but a memory. 😂

This car was underappreciated because it was too far ahead of its time. But AMC laid the groundwork for the modern 4x4 / all wheel drive autmobile.
Thank you for sharing.
Now you need to find a wagon version with Woodgrain.
If I see one with a Caretaker willing to share, you'll see one too.
