Thanks for the update; it sounds like you've got plenty to keep you busy in the new year. As for January videos, I'd love to see how you draw those track diagrams; I think that would be interesting, especially in a digital age where that is often not done anymore. Looking forward to seeing more progress in the new year.
love how it is all coming together! Whatever videos you decide to produce in 2025 I'm looking forward to them. Even my wife knows SC comes out Sunday mornings! 😊
Hi Tim, I hope you and your Family had a Good Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. Drawing the Ph. 2 Track-plan would be my favourite since I am 'Old-School' Drawing-board trained Draughtsman and am intrigued to learn your methods. However, you have a lot of work to do just sorting the Ph.2 Room before any Model Railroad building can commence and that is a priority affected by Time. Unfinished bits such as the Cement Works are usually niggly, and it is always good to get them and off your list too. I have been studying your Realistic Ops. series quite a lot recently and seeing these applied specifically to ADM, would be good. Thank you for the Series so far.
Happy New Year to you and yours. I've already adopted a version of the textured paint method based on your earlier videos. I'll be looking forward to the great content upcoming in 2025. Also congrats on being published in both MR and MRP.
Thanks for the preview. It all sounds interesting, but as an operations guy, my firstborn interest will always be a topic like your ADM compound operations. Also looking forward to reading your MR contributions. Keep up the good work, railroader!
Count me in as wanting to see your process for drawing trackplans. Also, if you have friends, acquaintances, fellow modelers who are handy at hanging drywall, framing walls, or doing a drop ceiling, don't be afraid to ask for help. It's amazing how fast it can go when someone knows how to do it. And free food doesn't hurt as an incentive! 😉
Happy New Year, Tim! Your 2024 videos have been great, and I'm really looking forward to what's coming in 2025. I'd love to see how you develop your track plan drawing for Phase 2. I'm also looking forward to the video(s) on your entire operating session. Thanks again for all you are sharing!
That's cool Tim can't wait to see the January issue. I don't remember the one in August I"ll have to go back through a library of magazines to see 😊 so have a Happy New Year with your family!
Happy New Year Tim!!! I’m going to start planning an expansion of my layout so I would love for next weeks video to focus on how you do it the “old fashioned way”. But no for sure that whatever you publish, I’ll be watching! Take care of this week Scott
Happy New Year Tim, and to all the SC viewing family. Looking forward to an exciting and inprational 2025. I'm torn between selecting a perferred topic. Your planning and design detail always intrigues me. I've never been that percise to to detail, because whenever I put anything on paper, as simple as they may be, it ends up not appearing as intended.🎉🎆🍾
Hey Mr. Tim, you were saying something about engineer controls. To me, I like both styles of controls depending on the type of locomotive. The GM EMD F-40PH could've had better visibility for engineer if the engine had the desk top controls. Of course, I'm not an engineer, but I do like the control stands for most of the locomotives out there. Some locomotives have the control stand and desk with makes more sense for engineers copying Form Ds or having a copy of the Bulletin Order. Happy New Year My Friend!
The desk top is really better suited for cowl units or passenger units. For freight units they are terrible. Newer units have a small desk on the engineers side which is nice. Happy New Year!
Whew! Tim, What a great future plan. You're going to need to build an Air B&B to house at least 15+ crew, dispatchers for sessions one day. LOL Lot's of traffic Can't wait for the videos. Happy New Year to you and your Family. And to ALL the Model RR souls. May This beloved Hobby bring Joy. WOO WOO. Ding Ding Ding!
Hi Tim it's Neil schwerdt in west valley city Utah, you have some great plans for the layout for 2025. I'm trying to work on my ho Montana rail link layout, I'm trying to finish the Billings train yard . I got done with my Aspen trees I did 100 of them . But you are doing a great job. From Neil schwerdt 😊
Happy New Year, Tim. I really admire your attention to detail and watching your videos. I would like to see how you put pencil to paper to plan a layout. Keep up the great work, and thanks for all you do for the hobby.
im in newnan and have been for 40 years. if your close id love to see the SC in person. Im starting my layout soon. ill be modeling newnan to Fairburn csx Intermodel
I would like to see your design steps. I am in the process of finishing my basement so I can then start building my layout. I would also like to see your operations. Your layout is coming along good and looking very nice
Track plan design and when you get phase two room done and ready for track and bench work will build the staging yard first to or build at the same time your doing the back wall
I will talk about that in the video. Probably at some point in 2025 I’ll build part of the staging yard so I can extend the tracks going through the wall to improve operations at Gadsden.
I enjoy your videos and interesting to see the 'phases' that will keep you busy for decades to come. I am especially interested in how you plan to enclose the helix and if this is a 2025 goal?
Thanks! I might enclose part of the bottom adjacent to AC Jct but I will leave the rest open. My grandkids love to watch the trains spiral up and down it. And my non model railroader guests think it is so cool. Stay tuned and you will see the changes and additions. Tim
Going to be a busy 2025. My choice is track planning, then current ADM ops with the remote loco. Two person crew or does the engineer do it all? Will you have a figure placed appropriately (ground or loco walkways) for the movements? Curious to see your plan for powering turnouts - Tortoise (by Circuitron), servo, fascia lever or knob, other. And how these will be controlled. Will any mainline turnouts be "controlled/power thrown" from the yard tower? Will a track diagram show route selected or just visual confirmation? Too bad you can't just hire a carpenter to finish the new room.
nice update vid... i didn't realize how big the layout is gonna be until you showed the rooms for phase 2 and 3... WOW... pretty big so are you doing this alone or do you have some help (i hope you got some help)... also operations question... a train leaves gadsen yard, goes up the helix and then either has a line up for ragland or carrolton at the top of the helix... will there be a signal at the bottom of the helix to show what the line up is at the TOP of the helix
Thanks! I have help with electronics but the rest is all me as time permits. No signals on the layout. But I do plan on installing a shove light for track three in the yard. Crews walk with their trains on the mainline and hand line the switches. The yardmaster instructs which track to use on the helix.
Looking forward to your work in 2025, Tim. On a side note, what would be the normal operating mileage of an SW1500? Given the size of their fuel tanks, I'd assume not that far.
Thanks! SW1500 units are yard switchers and so they don’t travel too far away from home. Part of an engineer’s responsibility is to keep up with fuel levels and notify the proper authorities when tanks get low.
Yes my ballast is made from actual rocks. It is a mixture from Arizona Rock and Minerals and Scenic Express. I showed how I ballast my tracks in an earlier series.
January video on track plan drawing would be useful. ADM can be February. Phase 1 operations in March. For April, turn the railroad back to the 1960s with Alcos, passenger service, and steam! (April Fools, of course).
Looking awesome! I just posted an update on getting my layout in its new home earlier this evening. The garage it's going in is nearly completed with updates, and I spent last Saturday while it was warm and dry moving the layout section by section from the attached garage on my house to the garage it's going into. ruclips.net/video/z24gtha54_M/видео.html
Track plan first, then ADM ops. I really like your videos. Happy New Year!
Sounds like a plan. Thanks for commenting.
Track planning...look forward each week to your videos!

Thanks! Can do!
Drawings for sure , but I'd like to see how you operate by yourself.
Happy New Year! Your operating layout is the best on the internet in my view. Looking forward to the 2025 videos. Cheers!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Stay tuned! Happy New Year!
Looking forward to an awesome 2025! Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks Chris!
Happy New Year sir!!! Great way too end the year! No matter what you decide to do, you can bet I'll be watching!!! - Gary

Happy New Year Tim, Love to see your track planning / drawing techniques. Cheers Peter from downunder
Thanks! Happy New Year Peter! Cheers!
Hi Tim, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Definitely would enjoy seeing how you drew that track plan.
Thanks! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and here’s to a wonderful new year!
Happy New Year and safe rails.
Happy New Year!
How you operate ADM and the number of cars needed would be a great video(s), along with how you operate phase 1. Thank you for the great videos.
Thanks! I plan on making a series on it soon. Stay tuned!
Happy New Year 🎊 Tim !!! A video on your plans would be nice 👍 😊 !!
Thanks! Happy New Year!
Trackplan for sure. As well as your process to determine siding/spur lengths.
Got it. Thanks for commenting!

Happy New Year, Tim! ADM operations sounds great. I would like to see the track plan for phase 2.
Thanks! I plan on doing both.
I would like to see track plan drawing for next month. Happy New Year!
Absolutely. Happy New Year!
I’ll be glad to. Thanks for commenting. Happy New Year!
Start the New Year off strong, and do a video of both. Thank you in advance.
Can do. Stay tuned!
I would like to see your design steps. I am in the process of finishing my basement so I can then start building my layout. I would also like to see your operations. Your layout is coming along good and looking very nice

Thanks! Happy New Year!
First of all, wishing you a Happy New Year, second, I would like you drawing old school layout.
Thanks! You got it. Happy New Year!
Like your intention to review derailments. In Melbourne, Australia we used to call them “Boards of Enquiry” 😊
Stay tuned. I do plan on addressing those issues because I know it can be a frustrating experience for a lot of modelers.
A live stream of a ops section would be cool
That is something I would like to do.
Going to be a busy 2025. My choice is track planning, then current ADM ops with the remote loco. Two person crew or does the engineer do it all? Will you have a figure placed appropriately (ground or loco walkways) for the movements?

Yes, it’s going to be busy. Powered turnouts by Circuitron with controls on fascia. Stay tuned.
Yard looking a bit full ;) Gotta run some trains.
It fills up in the afternoon and evening and then empties out in the morning. :)
I'm getting ready to adopt a prototype trackplan to fit my space. I would be very interested in how you draw the trackplan.
Alright. Great. Stay tuned!
Do the track design, let's see how you made your track plan and Happy New Year from the Trewsville Southern
Thanks! Happy New Year!
I’d love to see how you do the track plans for next month’s video
Thanks! You got it!
Looking forward to 2025 on the SC!
Thanks! 2025 is going to be a busy year for the SC. Stay tuned.

Great! Thanks for commenting.
I can make it happen. 😁
Track plan. Hands down.
You got it. Thanks for commenting.
How to draw a track plan the old-fashioned way if you would, please.
You got it!
Id like to see how you draw an old school track plan, SCARM and AnyRail are nice but pencil and paper is tried and true
