Hi, Thanks for the video. I will have a full day in Dubai and would like to do some sightseeing, I will stay in Jumeirah hotel for two nights. My plan was to wake up, have breakfast and head down to Kite beach for a quick swim, sunbathing. After that have lunch (where?), and head to the city, see Burj Khalifa and the fountains in the evening...what else would you recommend?
Hi! As a short advice, taking into account that you have only 1 day there, I would really really skip lunch. Take a sandwich to go and use the time (don't lose time at a random restaurant table - NO restaurant in Dubai is worth it) I would strongly recommend seeing Deira with its gold and spice markets. Even though it's not the real Arabia anymore, you get the idea of it and the feeling of being actually in Arabia, which you don't get in the 5 start hotels and at the Burj. Go to Burj Khalifa an hour before sunset, so you can see the land from above and then see the town from the fountains at night. Book a table by the water at the restaurant that I show in the video. You'll have a great day. Wishing you a great time!
@TravelSingFly thanks. I woke up, had breakfast went to the beach for two hours, met a friend, had lunch, went back to the hotel, then off to mall of istanbul, did shopping and sat in one of the coffee shops with a view on the fountains and had dinner there, then went down to see the fountains closer and that was about my day. Its a mission to get out of mall of Dubai!
Thanks for showing, every time I go there so many new attractions. How much bigger can it get ! If you go again try a seaplane flight over the city, it’s awesome.. Cheers
I love sea planes! But I wanted to show also how you can see it all without spending much money... Sea planes in Dubai are quite an investment... (in Istanbul it's great - taking a schedule Sea plane there is fantastic!)
Really amazing video ! [So sorry for my late comment; I was really looking forward to this one, but been so busy] . Dubai is such an amazing place, and you captured some great footage and made a huge effort to put it all together all edited for this video. Well, it was really excellent. Thank you so much, I have so much encouragement to make a stopover in Dubai instead of just connecting at the airport. I have wanted to see Dubai city for a very long time, I really must do so ! Well done my friend and happy new year
Hi John! Thank you for your wonderful comment, which meets me in the final editing of the add-on to the Dubai stopover film. The add-on will be about Abu Dhabi, which can be added on a longer stopover of more than 18 hours or ideally with a night in the region. (Emirates allows up to 48 hours on saver tickets, otherwise flex fares apply) I'm very very happy to read that this film has encouraged you to turn your wish to reality to make a stop in Dubai next time! That's why I made this. And yes, it was quite an effort and 3 weeks work to put all the tons of material that I have on this topic into 23 minutes with a storyline - but now that it's out, I'm very happy about it! Thank you again so much! Very encouraging!
Travel Sing Fly very welcome Sir! Can’t wait for the Abu Dhabi video also. @@johnhorton5022 Well, opera audiences in Europe get to hear me quite regularly - however, for the moment I'm trying to keep my name out of my channel about my travel passion - because I love my "dream job" too and don't wanna mix it up too much with my craziness about planes and travel and aviation. Great video as well as the emirates business class video! I'm planning a trip to Maldives and have a stopover in Dubai in August this year. Traveling with my wife and 2 daughter (ages 4 & 6) We arrive at 2am and our next flight is LHR is 7:45am. Do you recommend touring Dubai since I've never been in the middle of the night or just stay at the airport and rest? Trying to get upgraded to business if its available using points and maybe use the Emirates business lounge!
Hi Jesse! Thank you so much for reaching out and also for your compliments! I hope I can count you among my future subscribers. That would be fantastic! Now to your question: I would always say: YES! But you'll be having 2 small kids and it's really the middle of the night. There's nothing open at that time of course. However, if you're adventurous and the kids allow it, you could indeed take a taxi, say, at 4am and have you driven to Dubai Marina, passing by Dubai Downtown. Then experiencing sunrise above Marina's JBR Beach (be aware it's even hot at 6am) , and going right bank to the airport. It takes about 30 minutes to get back by taxi. So you need to leave from there again at 6am latest. I'd always say: better seeing it like that than not seeing anything at all. And even just passing by the skyline in a taxi is pretty unforgettable. Since Emirates has a free-cancellation/ free-changing policy, you could consider rebooking your flight to a late afternoon connection back to London. That way you'd be able to see quite a bit of Dubai. In case you do that, let me know, and I'll be happy to help with more tips! Of course, the lounge is a good idea too. You need to know that it's also possible to upgrade just one leg, in your case just Dubai to London - saves lots of miles and you can still enjoy the lounge in Dubai! (I have a dedicated video only about the lounges there - have a look!) Cheers from Germany! Chris
