HFA review - Ayon CD 10 II CD player and DAC

Here is a quick review of the Ayon CD-10 II's functions and sound quality, judged in isolation and briefly compared to a Mark Levinson CD390S CD player.

Nicely done video! With the absence of motorised loading mechanism the CD player looks like it is build to last. Perhaps even outlive its owners. Good investment for the grand kids 😄

Nice video, thanks! One question though, I read somewhere that it can "upsample" the PCM signal from the CD into DSD 128 or 256 signal, and then "convert" it to analogue, so you get that signal through the tubes and RCA/XLR analogue outputs, is this correct? Thanks!

DSD upsampling is part of an optional module and I did not opt for this for the CD10. I did, however, hear it in combination with the CD-T II when I reviewed it some time ago and I personally felt that the sound became a little too soft on the transients when using the DSD module. See my review on hifi-advice.com for the details. I should note that I like my sound very precise and some might find what I regard as ideal relatively dry in comparison to the more fluid DSD-upsampled variant. YMMV.

In the Netherlands, all Ayon products come with a 1-year warranty when purchased new. Certain dealers may offer longer warranty periods.
