I take back what i said about defense only being viable in district level competitions, not at the championship level That was probably some of the best defensive driving i have ever seen
Idk why anyone thought that tbh, a double pass meta was pretty obvious from kickoff, and then defense + stealing was the main way to counter it. This year has a lot of viable strategies, and defense has been in there since the beginning.
@@pullfunnystickBrother normally I would agree with you, especially for this game which proved to be a very offensive one however after watching this match my mind has changed because defense did in fact win a championship
Congrats to the teams that won, Crescendo was both a blast and complete insanity. Can't wait for water game next year! Also, at 1:36 he said 1619 instead of 1690, idk why I noticed that...
Honestly, 321's defense is pretty good. 254 could have switched 294 with 1189 since their drivetrain is a little more low profile, and just had them and 1323 shooting notes to 254. Since 321 can't defend two at once, it would sort of serve as a distraction.
321 can absolutely defend two robots at the same time as proven by match 13, where they shut down the double shuttling of archimedes, the best offensive team on einstein.
@Aralluen Sort of, but not really. From looking at that match, it was kind of tough for 321. They didn't really shut them down, as 2406 and 4613 were able to pass to 1678 no matter what. From what I observed, I just think 1678 need to keep a better eye on the notes being passed due to 1690 stealing them.
@@michaelo2286Easier said than done, 1690 is easily the best in the world at stealing notes. Also, by cutting the defense bot you ignore the increased cycle times for 4522 and 1690 they would be causing. Also, all 321 has to do is shut down 1323, which will be even easier to do as a result of crowding by the 2nd pass bot. From there, 1 passer + 1 cleanup with the 2nd pick as passer is going to be slower than the 2 full field from Daly. That's assuming they fully focus on 1323, which is less efficient than what they would likely be doing.
Two things I took away from this year's game: be aware of your bot size when there are space limitations so other teams don't trap you, and be ready to adjust your swerve gear ratios to have more torque when you know teams are going to defend you.
If I remember right robot lancers actually didn't change their gear ratio at all, their bumpers were so incredibly low bc of their over bumper intake, that the other bots bumpers would apply pressure onto 321s, making it seem they have a crazy ratio.
Can we all agree that 321 if the MVP of the Daly alliance. Like watch the Daly matches throughout their playoffs before Einstein and they just destroyed people. Actually crazy.
The defense of the 321 team was absolutely excellent. But the biggest share in making the Daly Alliance champion belongs to the 1321 team. They faced them 3 times in total and could not prevent the defense in all 3 matches. They deprived the Newton Alliance of the championship with the incredible mistake they made, especially in the last 13 seconds of the last match. This mistake did not suit the 1323 team at all. I didn’t want it to be like this. I love the 1323 team very much, but I am very angry with them. I wish the two best teams in history had become champions when they had the chance to form an alliance.
Both finals matches decided by a G424 violation in the last seconds in favor of Blue. Looks ilke the 2nd match maybe should have been a G211 instead. Crazy how referee perception can decide a championship like that.
2nd one absolutely should not have been G211. It's a fairly standard defensive move that got used multiple times earlier during the match (1:12, 1:33). Push them left into the truss to limit their movement. 1323 should have been more careful knowing that it would happen, and since it was the last 20sec, knowing it would result in a foul. The refs made the right call, just unlucky for Newton that they ended up losing because of it.
Insane defense by 321
What's insane is that they weren't a main robot, but a backup
1690 is so slithery quick!! I would never expect two of the best bots slowed that much by 321.
The pushed into a climbing bot for the losing tech foul is brutal
such a smart move by 321 , that’s some crazy good defense 🔥
Is that legal? That shouldn't count right???
@@dts_user1389 it’s totally legal , just smart by 321 to think to do it tbh
Can you give the time stamp

Ty! (I'm on 4522)
321 and 1690 definitely deserve this championship! Wow 😱
What an epic moment, and then the worst remix came on and was so loud it drowned out everything else….

I think he said it twice lol.
Especially sad since this is the first year that they haven't made worlds in a long time
This might be the most intense frc match I’ve seen yet
i dont know what i just stumbled upon. but i am going to watch more.
