Designing a bot is a constant balancing act, and part of that is recognizing threats to different parts of the bot and armoring against them, but also not spending so much weight in armor that you cannot drive the bot or give it a competitive weapon. That Minotaur is so consistently high-seeded is a testament to full package they bring combined with the amazing driving. They just have an issue where Sawblaze is a hard counter to them. If they rebuilt specifically to fight Sawblaze, then every non-hammersaw bot would rip them apart.

sometimes Jamison isn't thinking tho, he drives well and has good awareness, but why did he go with those high-forks? those are like food for minotaur, he was lucky that he won it. he needs very low forks so instead of getting smacked by the drum, it would just slide under it and drum would only grind on top of forks, but wouldn't be able to get "stuck" on the edges of forks and wouldn't throw his bot. i'm surprise Jamison didn't realize this, he usually knows which config to use

all of the bots that beat Minotaur have one thing in common. A powerful weapon system (eg. tombstone massive weapon, death roll massive weapon) I think that this is key to defeating minotaur.
I mean when you have a metal bull relentlessly charging towards you, running away is not an option. Heavy ordinance is the only thing that will take it down.
Have you noticed the difference in names/themes too? In BB the names are usually aggressive and strong sounding like Tombstone, Bloodsport, Copperhead etc. RW was usually daft names like Fluffy's Revenge or something like that and they'd lose in the first 20 seconds lol
Sawblaze is great. But actually, it makes great use of kinetic energy and the complications are nessesary for their strategy.
The fight with Witch Doctor was a huge screwup by the officials. Witch Doctor should not have been freed when stuck. And Minotaur absolutely should have been counted out as there was clearly no controlled movement.

Witch Doctor can be freed because it could be done *safely* . I agree with the count out portion but even if they can continue and the ref declares it, Witch Doctor would still beat them.
Generally, I really like Witch Doctor but, I didn't like their attitude in that fight. Because witch doctors ref was actively telling the team that minotaur was gonna be counted out, that's why the other ref was getting in position to count him out, but the team insisted they were moving stalling the count further, and because the witch doctor team were still being told minotaur was gonna be counted out they didn't engage. It's not bad sportsmanship, and neither team were in the wrong, it's purely the rules fault.
that’s what I find about super simplistic, vertical spinners. 90% offence 10% defence. unless they get a few early shots the matches always end with their batteries damaged
There are two things I feel Minotaur need to do to improve their bot. One is protect the batteries better. They should shed some weight elsewhere and have the option to add plate on top and below to avoid being sniped like Sawblaze does. The other is change to a four wheel configuration or put the wheels a bit more to the rear of the body, to stop that bouncing movement that pretty much render any forks they use useless. Or use magnets on the front for the same effect. Minotaur is an awesome bot, but I feel these flaws always ruin their run in the end. That back end constantly hitting the floor and lifting the front is to me the biggest flaw on their design.
but the "problem" with the bouncing never was a problem. you see, they won against end game (the king of the forks) twice and knocked out all the flippers they fought, even hydra. plus, they almost won against sawblaze, but they lost due to another problem (fire).
Honeslty it takes some serious audacity to be complaining about your opponent not being counted when your bot got stuck and they stopped the fight to free it manually.
They are abiding by the rules and they could dislodge Witch Doctor *safely*. As a Minotaur fan, yelling at the face of the ref to not count you out is rude. This is a ref and rules problem, not a Witch Doctor problem. Besides, Witch Doctor actually caused the damage to Minotaur that got their wheel off. They would've won if the ref says Minotaur is still in it..
In fact, when facing Sawblaze, all you need is a lighter and narrower drum and a protective plate to protect the battery. It is actually very simple for any robot to defeat Sawblaze. All you need to do is break its fork. The attack range of the drum is sufficient. Breaking the fork will allow you to attack Sawblaze's weapons, which are even more fragile than the fork. Just like Endgame crushed Sawblaze in the Golden Bolt Cup. As long as you can attack the fork and break it, this is Sawblaze's weakness.
what's really surprising about minotaur, is how hard that small drum hits. probably because of how blunt those "teeth" are on it. it's also bit confusing how it can catch fire and still have all functionality, i mean what exactly did catch fire? i'm thinking it was some component that got really hot, but didn't break and instead some non essential material caught fire, like some tape or plastic near it. still quite insane that they don't take this into account, just use higher rated parts, not like it would add more weight, maybe 1kg for everything, but that's like nothing to bots like this. i'm always shocked how those builders always keep everything on the edge, just use higher rated speed controllers, motors ..etc. it's just like with PSU on computer, always leave at least 20% extra "wiggle" room. if your components take 800w, then get 1000w PSU, altho this is total overkill. my gaming PC barely goes to 300w, that's complete with LED keyboards, mice and 2 monitors, but my point is that some builders always build on the edge and then their bots burn out

I cannot believe we still see a lot of bots with big wheels that are totally unarmoured even tomestone has it takes one hit to damage or remove one and then you are finished
they have those just to cut weight. tombstone can use its weapon to defend itself so adding wheel armor is kind of pointless. once it loses the main weapon, tombstone will lose regardless of armor because it can not win a push fight whatsoever.
