Singer Melveen Leed (CHS Episode 813)

Melveen Leed born in Moloka'i is an American singer. She graduated from Radford High School in Honolulu. After winning the title of "Miss Molokai" she begin singing in the mid-1960s and has released a number of records in the genres of Hawaiian, country, and jazz music. Melveen shares some of her favorite local recipes with us.

MELVEEN’S HONEY BUNNY CAKES
INGREDIENTS:
1 box yellow butter cake mix 
3 eggs
3/4 c salted real butter
1 c 7 Up soda  2 heaping T sour cream
1 T vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS:
Mix all ingredients and then pour into six 
small loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit 
for 30 minutes.  When cakes are done, poke holes in each one on surface and rub with butter or any
jam or jelly. Serve.
