- FRET12 was able to catch up with the guys in SEVENDUST on their massive headlining tour with fellow heavy-hitters (and very recently-reformed) COAL CHAMBER! This sold out show at MoJoes in Joliet, IL also featured the Morgan Rose-produced CANDLELIGHT RED as well as Italian rock/metal outfit LACUNA COIL rounding out the bill.
Fresh off the release of their newest album "Black Out the Sun", SEVENDUST has been playing to packed venues across North America on this tour that has taken many of us back to 1997! Mosh pits, huge circle pits, and crowd surfing were seen everywhere as SEVENDUST took us through a huge 14 song set of their heaviest tunes, spanning their impressive nine album career.
While many of you know SEVENDUST as the well-known guitar duo of Clint Lowery and John Connolly, Clint has actually been off the road for a few weeks to be with his newly born child. Some of you may know his fill-in, as Troy McLawhorn (of Dark new Day, Evanescense, Seether, and DoubleDrive) who can also be seen in some of our live footage playing the not-yet-released Clint Lowery SE signature PRS!
Despite all of the chaos, we were able to find peace and quiet in the basement of MoJoes to sit down with the always-amiable John Connolly for an extended Artist Connect interview where he was able to get all of your questions answered, and a ton of ours as well, many regarding his highly-anticipated Dean Signature guitar, as well as the stories about how the new record was written, and much more!
Grab a seat, and get ready to get Loco, this late 90s revival is one for the ages, and provides good times for all. Check out the live footage, as well as this extended Artist Connect for all of the newest info from this massive tour! Видеоклипы
super relaxed and professional guy! Sevendust is definitely one of the best yet most underrated metal bands out there...
Preach!!
black out the sun is awesome. thank you john, thank you sevendust
such a well spoken individual and one hell of a guitarist!
John is like the encyclopedia of Sevendust, none of the other guys give you anywhere close to as much detail as John does on everything. He always gives these long-winded answers to the simplest questions but it's that extra detail is what makes it so interesting to the diehard fans out there. No wonder they did the rig rundown questions with John and not Clint. Clint doesn't know nearly as much about what goes on behind the scenes but that's why we love Clint too. They're a perfect pairing.
I believe Black out the sun, has been their best record so far.
Great interview!
Sevendust are way underrated.
Been in love with John for years!!!! Just finally got to see them in concert last month, crazy good.
Loved this interview, it explain everthing that's going on behind the record process and what goes through their minds about what happens on the band right now and the side projects as well. Hope to see more interviews like this one with the other guys too.
I have both John and Clint’s Fret 12 DVD sets, but the fact this was something Fret 12 also made is really cool. I think this was made actually before John’s Fret 12 DVD dropped and this is really cool just for the fact amongst all the awesome stuff featured on the DVD’s, this video here is still different with some other stories etc. Some of the same obviously is throughout the DVD but overall this is a whole one off all in itself. Tremonti’s bro and team have done great with Fret 12 material. At least I think so. All of the artists they have featured and then they have additional features like this they will post to social media, as well as clips from the Sounds and Story sets. Just like this video of John there is also a good one with Steph from Deftones. Also a little over 7 minute video with Max Cavalera talkn Sepultura days. I would love a DVD set featuring just Max. The Story and then him playing riffs from all of his projects he has so many it would have to be like a two parter almost there are so many riffs in his arsenal. Luv Fret12🤘🎸🤘🤙
This is my favorite rock band of all time! Been a fan ever since I bought a copy of “Seasons” when I was in High School and been hooked ever since (I know they have a lot of material before “Seasons” too, which I do listen to as well) ☺️
If I didn;t already love the guy (and band) his In N Out shoutout sealed the deal, lol!
Dude, in terms of attitude, that is awesome to use both methods of tracking LIVE and individual tracking. Great!!!!
should cover Cult of personality.
John is Nom, Nom!
+Bobbie Duck OMG..I hate the words nom nom!...lol
Fuck, he's HoTT!
Of course he has great things to say about an amplifier that was gifted and not paid for...
I wanna be involved in it!!!!!!!!!
where is that live footage from? potential live dvd?
Skims right across the GCX.... 6 minutes describing the EVH, 6 seconds describing the GCX hahaha.... Come on John...
Thats john....he's from Sevendust
The music in between the answers is too loud and and the rest is too quiet. That's pretty annoying.
Who's the other guitarist at 7:00? Def not Clint or Sonny...
Erock Friedman I think. He's the 2nd guitarist in John's other band Projected. He must have played a song live with 7D or something.
The other dude was wrong. It's Evanescence's Troy McLawhorn, a longtime friend of the band, who filled in on tour for Clint when he took a hiatus from touring.
It actually says this in the video description. XD
this guy is sevendust lol
What's the intro music ?
Decay from Sevendust on their album Black out the Sun!
hopefully not cause clint isnt there
Relentless clint has been back for 4 years yahoo!
7D, one of my all time favorite bands...... but what shitty guitar tone.
