Hi really enjoyed what you are doing my problem is how to you set the volume for playing live. When you are making your patches in your studio how do you set your level when you go out live is it Patch level knob 2 or knob 3 to adjust your sound. When you hit a patch at home fine but levels are to low Or to loud hope this makes sense Thanks Brian
Hey there, Brian! What an excellent question, thank you, I really appreciate it, as well as your kind words! 😊 Your question is a part of a much bigger topic, also referred as "Level Matching", and it's comminly used when talking about multi effects units and its patches. Getting the volume/level of the individual patches to match each other requires some patience and knowledge, let me try and explain it. I always create my patches using a studio dB-meter, which monitor my output level from the GT-1, as I create the patches. I start by finding a "Target Level" which is the overall level I will match all the remaining effects to. It's important to establish a "Target Level" because it will ensure that the following effects will be matched to that specific output level. For me it's the Clean Twin preamp model on the GT-1, coming from the PREAMP block. That preamp model is my "Target Level". I've found that it gives a string output, and by matching all the remaining effects to that, has been great when I play live. Once the "Target Level" is established, then I will go through each effects, toggling the ON and OFF, while I listen for any drop or increase in volume. I use the dB-meter for that, but you can use your ears, to a certain extent. An App for your phone or a dB-meter plugin for your recording software is good as well. So, this means that I'm leveling out each effect, so it's level it the next one, because of my "Target Level". I never touch the Patch Level knob.. Because it adjusts the whole patch, and not the individual effects, which is what's really needed in this case. I only see the Patch Level knob as a "last way out" option. Of course, when I get to the venue we're playing, I will have to tweak a few things, usually during sound check, but it shouldn't be anything major. I'll get things close at home, then listen closely, at rehearsals, and have it all good to go, before the show. I know this is a lot to process, but as I mentioned, it's quite a big topic, but it's so important, in order to get the most out of the GT-1. Hey there.
Go to the Boss webpage, and find the GT-1, then there should be a tab for Drivers or other links, where you will find the drivers to download. However, once you connect your GT-1 to your computer, then the driver should be installed automatically, and all should be good? Make sure to have Boss Tone Studio installed as well as Adobe Air - that should do it.
Give it a go, and see what happens.
All the best.
thank you for the answer friend, but the problem is the driver can't install automatically, everything I've tried and nothing changes
@@magghot5965 - Hmm, that's strange...
Have you tried downloading the drivers from the Boss webpage then?
Cheers.
@@magghot5965 I fixed it by using a different cable. Apparently the pedal is finicky with cables. The cable I originally used works with everything but this pedal.
I know it may not be necessary to mic my little Orange which is a solid state works great
I all depends on what you're after. The GT-1 can simply be connected via USB, for recording, and that might be easier.
All the best.
Can we change the order of the blocks around as much as we like. Just for fun.
Yup, the order of the effects can be changed. You simply drag and drop them, to the desired location.
@@GuitarNTabs Great, thanks!
what's a good thing I could use with this to record stuff?
Hi Matt,
Personally I use Cubase, and that is pretty straightforward. I will have a tutorial uploaded on that topic, later today.
Besides Cubase there are other alternatives, like Audacity, which is free.
I hope this helps, if not, then let me know.
I've had so many obstacle s like the last time I forgot to plug the mic into computer.
Take your time, and I'm sure it will all be good!
You'll figure it all out!
All the best.
gt-1 does not light up when connected to the computer via the usb-cable
Hi there,
No, it does not, you still need to plug in the power adapter for the GT-1. The USB-cable and connection will NOT power the GT-1.
I hope this helps.
@@GuitarNTabs I had the power adaptor connected
@@therockbeast591 - Did you have a jack connected to the GT-1's Input?
@@GuitarNTabs No. I see what you mean
hi , all your tutorials are very helpful , in some of my settings in the signal chain i moved the preamp icon first and its more powerful, is that ok? let me know your thoughts ... thank you
I replied to your comment on my other video - make sure to check it out.
@@GuitarNTabs sure
Export patches ?
Yes, we can export patches, using Tone Studio.
Did you have anything particular in mind?
Best regards.
This was very helpful. Your audio was out of sync with the video, though.
Thanks, I just noticed...
Have a great day.
You got some serious "essing" going on with that mic.
Yours are probably the most insightful vids on yt regarding the boss gt-1. But man, for me they are unwatchable. It is so serious and your voice puts people to sleep (you sound like a math professor) and there are no playing samples and if there are, you should put them at the beginning of the video.
Hello Michel,
Thanks for your comment and opinion.
I would like to make it clear, that all my videos are free, they are made in my spare-time and they are made to inform at help GT-1 users out. Such videos, and topics, will require talking, because a unit like the GT-1 isn't Plug&Play, which is what most people think...
Your suggestions are taken into account, and it's something I've planned for my future videos - as you may have seen, many of my tutorials are a few years old, so I made them with what I had available at the time...
Let me know if I can help you in any way.
Have a good day.
@@GuitarNTabs I didn't fall asleep
