Or not. Because the main element that drives a species to evolve are environmental pressures. Barring such pressures species can remain in a kind of stasis with little change over thousands and even millions of years. And how gorillas or any other species evolve is impossible to guess in the long term. Just sayin'.

@@johnmcmahon8513 Our understanding of evolution is based on evidence not proof. If one looks back at the periods of time when the most rapid evolutionary change occured it was after extinction events. After the PT extinction at the end of Permian Era and the beginning of the Triassic 250 million years ago there was an explosion of new vertebrate species many of which led to dinosaurs.
At the end of Cretaceous another major extinction occured leading to the extinction of large dinosaurs, but the evolution of birds and mammals and many more species. Change creates the impetus for new evolutionary development..

I get that they're safe and they're fed & they live longer in captivity I get all of that. Silverbacks are part of a very very large group Silverbacks. It's the natural order of things in the wild. This isn't what God intended for these animals when he made them just saying if someone took us away from our family and stuck us in a cage to be looked at and said ther all fed and taken care of would it be right?
